Part Two
^^Thats Iris Walker^^
We stand there a moment longer. All of us taking a moment to sink in how close we just came to death. Iris is the first to react. She sinks down to her knees, with her hands over her mouth in shock, and tears in her eyes.
Zuri is next. She also goes to her knees, a hand resting on Iris' shoulder,
"Iris are you hurt?" Despite the obvious tremble in her voice, she still sounds urgent and commanding. Iris is shaking from head to toe and obviously NOT okay as she nods, not removing the hands over her mouth. Zuri nods, "Good." She whirls on the driver, eyes narrowed, "You better still be conscious in there because you're about to get the beating of a lifetime."
I can't seem to find the strength to move. To talk. To look away from the Mustard Seed in my palm. Normally, my mind would yell at me that there is no way that could've happened from a seed. None. Nada. However... there's something about this little seed that makes me think otherwise. It heated up whenever I prayed and nobody can tell me otherwise.
Is he real?
I blink at this thought.
Is HE real?
I think I hear a commotion behind me and remember Zuri was about to beat some guy up. I jerk my head up, my fist closing around the seed. Sure enough, she's over there trying to force this guy, who's most likely as shocked as we were/are, out of his car. My jaw clenches,
"Zuri!" I snap. She only spares me a glance, her fist closing around the guy's collar. I walk over there.
Now, here's the thing about Zuri. She is the strongest out of the three of us, but also the shortest at 4'6. And this doesn't make her the shortest female in high school, I mean, she is taller than some of my teachers. But holy hell below she is strong.
I on the other hand, am the tallest of our group. I am 5'8 and a twig if there ever was one. I'm barely enough to not be blown away by the wind here in Texas. However, I do a little boxing and I'm great with a sword. And I do have really sharp nails.
So there is no doubt I will not be able to pull off of him. But then we get to Iris.
Iris got stuck between us at 4'9. And she is the nicest person to walk the earth. I was over doing it with me and Zuri, but not with her. Anyone, or thing, hurts her and we will have them beaten. Yes, I know, we are too overprotective of her, but we aren't going to let up on that. Ever. Iris is probably our greatest weakness.
I lay a hand on Zuri's shoulder and growl,
"You went over to someone we don't even know and left Iris to deal ON THE SIDEWALK. How do you think that makes her feel?" Of course, Iris won't mind. But that doesn't matter right now. The effect is instant as Zuri releases the man and practically runs back to Iris.
I look to him, he looks at me. A mutual understanding of what we both thought just happened passes between us. I'm the first to look away as I walk back to my friends.
The police arrive within 3 minutes and all I can see is blue and red flashing lights as men and women run around us in blue suits. Me and Zuri have our arms wrapped around Iris as she cries into Zuri's shoulder and leans on mostly on our arms. A nice EMT wraps is in a blanket before an officer kneels beside us,
"We are sending you three to the hospital, I don't care if the EMTs say you're fine." I eye the officer. He seems to be younger than the rest here, more emotionally involved. Probably new to the squad, if that's what they actually call the police groups in real life. Not just TV shows.
I glance back to my friends. Zuri is watching me, I don't think Iris heard him. Nodding, I stand and help Iris to her feet.
Few moments later and we are all on the back of an ambulance heading for the hospital. We are on one side, the guy who was driving on the other. None of us seem harmed except for being shaken emotionally. The EMTs sit awkwardly in the back.
Not one of us say a word.
