Part Twenty
Tranquil has fallen.
Depression moves into the empty space left behind and the memories shift to the sadder, more hurt feelings.
When Iris got her boyfriend.
The boyfriend that was another friend.
When Zuri announced she was leaving.
Iris and Zuri spend more time together.
The betrayal of a crush and close friend.
Depression feeds off the raw pain that rushes into Minette's mind. It's voice is stronger,
"Remember these? Your friends didn't need you here, did they? No. They didn't. You're a waste of space." The knife turns to Minette, aimed to kill.
If Minette's human part dies, Depression will have complete control. Em will no longer exist.
I grab her wrist,
"No! Minette, are you serious?! She just killed a friend! SHE KILLED A FRIEND!!!" Minette freezes, her eyes widen.
Red.
Dark, blood red. Bright, neon red.
Red.
I hate it, but it's better than having Depression everywhere.
Memories of Tranquil fly around and swim in the sea of now shades of red. They taint themselves.
Depression tries to regain control, but looses badly. The flower shrinks and vanishes while the knife stays.
It's hiding.
I don't get to do anything else because my body is thrown from her, the pit vanishes.
A wall greets me and I can hear my spine snap whenever I make contact with it.
The last thing I see before I sink under is Minette standing with her sword, the room is in tatters from the battle between Lust and Fear.
The look in her eyes makes me very happy that I'm passing out.
POV Fear
Why....
Why am I in pain?
I'm not hurt anywhere, I'm not bleeding.
So then why does my chest hurt?
Lust dodges my blow and his foot pushes the air above my head back, causing a giant burst of wind to crash into the wall.
I respond by grabbing the leg he has all his weight on and crushing it in my hand.
His screams should make me happy, like it did with Minette. Then why do they feel like I'm hurting myself?
With a sigh I toss him to the side and sink into the darkness surrounding my room.
"Honestly Alexander, I would've thought you would've at least put on a better show." Out of the corner of my eye I spot Wrath leaning over the girl.
She is becoming a real pain in my side.
The shadows shift as Lust stands, limping and wiping blood from his lips,
"Same goes for you. If I recall, you fought harder the first time we fought." My attentions snaps back to him,
"Why should I waste my energy on you?" His toothy grin makes my chest feel worse,
"Because you don't want to fight me." He opens his arms like an invitation for a hug, "And that's fine! We don't have to-!!"
I slam him against the wall to silence him.
He's just trying to get under my skin. He knows he is weak.
He doesn't care.
Lust is older than I am. He was the one who told me about becoming an Emotion. He saved me from my father.
He helped me.
What happened to those days? Why did he change? Why did he have to change?!
"Shut up." I pull my hand back to form a crystal.
If I have to kill him to save my power, so be it.
His eyes widen,
"Fear, you can do so much better than this! Be the kid I saw back then!" I realize there is a partial truth to his words,
"You're right," I lower my hand and he looks hopeful, "I can do better." My eyes glow as I make a trap for Lust, one that he can't move in.
Now I can make his death last longer. He struggles vainly as I walk up to him and narrow my eyes, looking.
"Where is it." I demand with the harshest tone I can do. He meets my gaze with a pained smile,
"That Seed changed you. You shouldn't have tainted it." I growl and slam him against the wall, holding his neck,
"We aren't talking about the Seed right now. Where is your necklace?!" The look on his face feels like it's killing me.
An emotion cannot be too far from their Item. No exceptions.
He's afraid. I've scared my mentor. What am I doing?!
I start to pull my hand away whenever, against my will, it starts pushing harder.
You're not allowed to stop, Jake.
I had almost forgotten about the being inside my head.
Ever since I've touched that Seed, this thing has been controlling me.
Lust has tears stinging his eyes as he looks at me,
"M- My pocket-!!" My other hand digs through his front pocket as he grabs at my hand, trying to breath. When I find it I allow him to breath more as my gaze falls to it.
His necklace truly is beautiful.
Casual rope holds it all together, delicate little gems and seashells are woven into it as they come together in the middle for a masterpiece. The middle has a pure diamond that has been specially designed to glisten even in the darkness, the light refracts in it to form a rainbow of color. The link in the back is everyday silver.
It's truly amazing. Much better than what I ended up with.
"P- Please, Jake, stop this-s. We c- can work something o- out." Lust whispers as I run my thumb over the fragile centerpiece.
An Item for the Emotion is like it's lifeline, whenever it gets hurt or scratched it can severely damage the owner.
And if the Item is somehow broken...
...then the Emotion fades away.
If the Emotion is killed, the Item just moves on to find a new host.
"Alexander, why did you have to change?" I can't help it, my voice cracks and tears start to run down my face as I look at him again, "Why?!" He puts a hand on my wrist as he smiles again,
"It wasn't me who changed, kid. The Seed changed you. If you'd let somebody help y-!" I start to crush his windpipe,
"Shut up!! Nobody can help me!" The tears dry and I get ready to kill the necklace.
"You, boy, let go of my friend." I turn to see Minette back on her feet.
Depression is hiding.
Great, another thing to deal with.
I narrow my eyes and pull List forwards, then slam his head directly into the wall again. He's out of the picture now.
I pocket the necklace.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" If I can get her to say she's a nobody again, then I can win this. But her eyes... they're really messing me up. There's something different about them.
Something changed.
Her glare makes me want to back up,
"I am Minette Trueman. And you are the one who made it okay for my friend to be killed." The knife turns into a blade.
So then Depression is helping her.
She grips it tight as roots are visibly spreading across her body, "And that isn't very nice. Not nice at all."
