I’ve never felt pretty under my skin
Not being born light-skinned feels like a sin
You have to be lighter to be heard and seen
For beauty are based on the color of your skin

If you want to be pretty, you have to be white
So, here’s a list you can go ahead and write
Use whitening creams, treatments, and pills
Though, be ready since it’ll add up to your bills

Oh, careful you don’t get burned by the sun
Or else you’ll immediately get shunned
You know, skin tone determines ones value
In this society that’s always ready to judge you

Funny, how many fights against racism
But here we are plagued with colorism
Mocked for being not “light” enough aloud,
Why can’t I just be brown and proud?
