3. Baboons

Monday.

The first day of classes for me.

Also known as the day I'd walk around the school aimlessly and embarrass myself by getting to class fifteen minutes late.

Sky showed me where all my classes were yesterday, but that didn't mean I remembered how to get to them. I couldn't explain how big this school really was.

First period I had math, great way to start the day huh? And to make matters worse it was up on the forth floor, but that was as much as I know about it. I had no idea which hallways to go down, or how the room numbers worked, so I was just winging it.

As I looked for room 487 I tugged on my shirt and sighed. I wanted to look nice today to make a good first impression on all the people I hadn't already met, but I was regretting my outfit choice now.

I was wearing a white tank top under an open maroon cardigan, black leggings, and my favourite maroon converse.

What I hadn't anticipated was for the school to be so cold today. My thin cardigan did nothing to protect me from the icy air, and I was shivering lightly. I found out after Sky and I left this morning that the heat was broken and would, thankfully, be fixed later today. But for now I had to freeze my butt off. Of course the heat would break when it was the middle of November.

485, 486, 487!

It was about time I found my class! I was already six minutes late.

Just as I was about to open the door two bodies were pushed up beside me, one on either side.

I looked up and saw Matt and Cody, Drew's little minions, smiling evilly down at me.

I tried to push them away but they didn't budge. I saw them smirk at each other over my head, and then they opened the door and dragged me into class.

"Matt, Cody, what a pleasure it is that you've graced us with your presence." A tall male in his mid thirties, most certainly the teacher, greeted sarcastically.

"Hey Mr. O!" Cody said excitedly. I don't think he caught on to the teacher's sarcasm.

"And who's your friend?" Mr. O asked when he saw me.

"This here is the new girl Cora. We were on our way to class when we saw her walking towards an exit. So we did the right thing and brought her here with us." Matt explained.

"Hey! Thats no-"

"We couldn't have little Cora here skipping her first day of classes, now could we?" Cody spoke up, cutting me off.

"Well Cora, I don't know what your last school was like but here we don't encourage skipping. Usually you'd get detention if you're caught, but since it's your first day I'll let it slide." Mr. O reprimanded me.

I opened my mouth to tell my side of the story but Matt placed his hand over my mouth and dragged me to a seat at the back while Mr. O nodded in thanks and Cody nodded back.

Those jerks! I bet Drew put them up to that. Now the teacher thought I was a skipper that mouths off to teachers.

Matt gently pushed me down into a chair and sat on my right while Cody sat on my left.

I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, silently fuming. They had no right to lie like that. When I saw Drew I was going to kill him!

"A bird's gonna poop on your lip if you keep pouting like that." Cody suddenly said.

I gave him a 'what the hell' look but didn't reply because knowing my luck the teacher would catch me talking.

"Shut up Cody, I can see steam coming out of her ears." Matt joked.

I let out a frustrated huff of air and sunk down in my seat a little. These two would be the death of me.

After that the two of them bickered and made comments about me, which I ignored, but pretty soon I was going to explode.

"Did Drew put you two up to this?" I asked through my teeth. I had resorted to clenching my jaw shut a while ago in an attempt to control my anger, but that wasn't helping anymore.

Cody put this hand on his chest and gasped in fake shock and Matt replied "Now why would you think that?"

That was all the confirmation I needed to know that Drew definitely put these two up to this.

"I'm gonna kill him." I whispered to myself.

"Would you like to speak up so the class could hear you Cora?" Mr. O asked.

"No sir." I answered, sinking down lower in my seat.

I heard the two baboons beside me snicker, and I'd never wanted to hit a human as much as I wanted to hit them.

Thankfully class ended soon after that, and I all but sprinted out of the room. I swear to god if those two were in any more of my classes I was going to lose it.

"What class do you have next babe." Cody asked, slinging his arm around my shoulder as him and Matt caught up to me in the hallway.

I shrugged his arm off and replied "None of your business, and don't call me babe."

Matt chuckled and Cody scoffed. I guess he wasn't used to rejection.

"We can help you find your next class." Matt offered.

Now it was my turn to scoff, "Like I'm gonna believe that. For all I know you'll just make me late and then tell the teacher I'm skipping again."

Besides, I have Art now and I actually remembered how to get there.

"Fine. Be like that." Cody said, sour from the little rejection I gave him, and pulled Matt away.

I smiled at their retreating backs. Never in my life had I been so happy to be ditched.

I climbed up one flight of stairs and easily found room 531 once I was to the fifth floor. I even got to class before the bell rang.

I took a seat at the back of the class and got out my notebook and pencil, preparing myself for all the questions I was about to be asked.

When the bell rang at the end of class I was so surprised I jumped from the loud sound. It felt like I walked in five minutes ago, not an hour and twenty minutes. I actually enjoyed class, Only three people asked me about drawing with my eyes closed, which was some kind of miracle, and for the rest of class I was left alone.

I quickly packed my stuff into my backpack and rushed downstairs.

Five flights later I was finally on the ground floor and heading in the direction of the cafeteria. This stupid rich school had everything except elevators.

I stopped once I stepped into the cafeteria, scanning the crowd for Sky and Jess.

I finally saw them waving like lunatics in the middle of the lunch line, and quickly walked over to them.

"Hey, how was your first two classes?" Jess asked.

I shrugged, "They were alright. Nothing special, just class."

They both rolled their eyes at my boring answer.

"Next!" The lunch lady called.

Jess and Sky both got soup and a sandwich, and I ended up getting two slices of pizza and chocolate milk.

Once we all had our food we walked to a table and sat down, immediately beginning to inhale our food like the pigs we were.

"You might want to slow down and taste your food." A voice said from behind me.

I tensed when I realized who the voice belonged to, and the girls looked up and blushed like crazy.

"Matt." was all I said.

He chuckled and sat down on one side of me while Cody sat on the other, just like in math.

"Where's your leader?" I asked sarcastically, taking another big bite out of my pizza slice.

"Over there at the popular table." Cody replied, putting emphasis on the word popular, as he pointed at a table near ours.

I rolled my eyes and took another bite of pizza as I studied the 'popular' table. Drew was there, surrounded by guys wearing varsity jackets, and girls wearing too much make up and too little clothing.

Just as I was about to look away Drew's eyes met mine and he smirked, probably seeing the annoyed look on my face.

But then a brilliant plan came to my mind and I smirked back, causing his to drop and his eyes to leave mine.

"Done ogling our friend?" Matt asked quietly, his face close to mine.

"Definitely, I'd rather look at you." I replied flirtatiously, holding back a smirk when I saw his half shocked, half flustered expression.

"W-what?" He asked and cursed under his breath, probably because he stuttered.

It was pretty obvious that I caught him off guard, and that was all I needed to play him like a fiddle.

"You're just so sexy, especially your hair." I told him, running the hand I wasn't eating pizza with, through his hair.

I heard him sharply breathe in and scooted my chair closer to his. Then I brought my mouth up to his ear and whispered "It kind of turns me on."

When I pulled away I almost laughed at his shocked, blushing face. I looked into his eyes and saw an internal debate going on. If only I could read minds, I'd love to know what he was thinking right now.

"Lets go dude." Cody said, breaking the silence at our table.

When Matt didn't reply Cody stood up and dragged him to Drew's table.

It took everything in me not to burst out laughing, because if I did, they'd realize I was just flirting with Matt to get them to leave.

Cora - 1, Drew - 1.

When I trained my attention back on Sky and Jess, their mouths were hanging opened in shock.

I shrugged, "What? I needed to get them away somehow. They were annoying me."

"You could have asked them to leave." Jess replied, looking at me like I grew another head.

"They've been bugging me all day, Drew put them up to it. That's the only way they'd leave me alone." I explained, and they nodded in understanding.

After that they went back to eating and I watched as Drew stormed off after Cody explained what happened.

Well Drew Bates, that's what happened when you messed with me.
