Chapter 49
A/N I'm going to put a very minor trigger warning here because suicide is mentioned a couple times. What I wrote in this chapter isn't too bad, but there's still a little bit, just to warn you guys.
Anyways, as an apology in case I just made you guys sad and depressed, I added a *gorgeous* cover, made by IceBlueShadows, for you guys to enjoy! She actually made me a ton of covers, so I'll be periodically uploading one every once in a while.
Okay now, I'll shut up and let you read the chapter in peace XD.

"I talked to Lili's lawyers!" Savannah sounded excited.
"Cool, what did they say?" Dream asked Savannah on the phone.
"They said, well, you and Zac are allowed to testify in court about your own kidnappings!"
"Great," Dream said. "Although I'm afraid I have some not-so-great news."
"Oh, no, what is it?"
"I'm kind of, well, grounded."
"What? Why?"
"Because I kind of told my dad that I almost died three times during the trip...and being the overprotective monster he is, he grounded me to 'keep me safe' or whatever."
"Aww, I feel you," Savannah empathised, "My parents would kill me if they found out what happened on the trip. And, they'd probably ban me and Sawyer from ever taking a vacation with our friends ever again."
"Seriously, parents are so annoying," Dream grumbled.
"Can't you sneak out?"
"Sneak out?! Are you crazy?!" Dream thought for a moment. "Okay I'm bored out of my mind, so I'm doing it. How?"
"How did you run away from home in the first place?"
"No. Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no..."
There was a pause. "What do you mean?" Savannah asked.
"I, er, jumped from my bedroom window into Zac's room."
"Um, wow, that's...interesting?" Savannah said. "If it were me I wouldn't have the guts to do it, but you do you."
"You think?" Dream said sarcastically, "My bedroom is on the tenth floor, and so is Zac's."
"Wait what? Girl, are you trying to kill yourself?"
"If I backed out, Zac would never let me forget that I chickened out of a deathly jump," Dream shrugged. "It was worth it."
Savannah snorted. "Right. Well, do you or do you not want to sneak out?"
"I'll call Zac," Dream decided, adding Zac to the phone call.
"Hello?" Zac answered his phone sleepily.
"Dream wants to sneak out, can she jump from her room to yours again like what she did last time?" Savannah said quickly, before Dream lost the courage.
"Thanks a lot," Dream sarcastically said to Savannah. "And yes," she told Zac. "I've been grounded for the past two days and I'm telling you, it's torture."
"Well," Dream could almost hear Zac grinning, "Hop on over."
Dream squealed, feeling her gut drop when she opened the window and looked at how far she would fall, if she didn't make it to Zac's window.
"Just do it, don't be such a chicken," Zac called from the other side.
"Umm..." Dream hesitated.
"Come on, Dream. You want to leave your house, don't you?" Savannah said.
"Okay, fine," Dream said, closing her eyes, before jumping...
Her feet didn't land on Zac's windowsill.
There was a shriek from her phone and from Zac's window.
Then all was black.
---
"Can you believe she tried to kill herself? Am I that horrible of a father?"
"No, no, no, you're great. You were just trying to keep her safe."
"But she tried to commit suicide! After she told me she wasn't suicidal!"
"You don't know that yet. There could be another reason she, er, jumped out of a window."
"Like what? She jumped out of a window."
"Maybe you were a little harsh, with the grounding, especially because she didn't really do anything wrong..."
"I knew it. I can't believe I failed her as a parent."
When Dream woke up, she was in a white hospital room.
"Uh, Dad? Ava?"
"Dream, you woke up!" her dad said, rushing next to her. "What on earth were you thinking? Trying to kill yourself? I thought you told me you're not suicidal?"
"Kill myself? Wh-what?"
"You jumped out of a window. You tried to commit suicide. Oh, my, did you also experience amnesia?"
"Huh?"
"Dream has amnesia," her dad groaned.
"I didn't try to kill myself," Dream said, "I," tried to sneak out of the house, "slipped and fell out of the window."
Her dad's eyes narrowed, obviously not believing her.
"Okay, fine," Dream said.
"So you tried to kill yourself?" he demanded.
"No," Dream sighed. "I was bored to death being grounded for doing nothing, so I was...encouraged...to sneak out of the house. Which resulted in...this."
"Sneak out of the house? What do you mean?"
"Umm," Dream really didn't want to expose her method of leaving the house secretly, even though she'd only done it once.
"Dream," her dad said, a warning tone in his voice.
"Okay," Dream threw her arms up in desperation, yelping when that shot a sharp pain through her arm. "So, my window faces one of my friend's windows, so I can jump into his room, and then leave from his apartment."
"Your arms are injured very badly now, as are your legs," her dad informed her. "And, who is this...friend?"
"Zac, I told you about him before."
"I've never even met him," her dad said. "I'm not comfortable with you sneaking out into other boys's rooms, even staying overnight at their places."
"For heaven's sake, when are you going to let it go?" Dream groaned. "I slept in the guest room, by the way. Also, he's with Savannah, so you can stop being so suspicious."
"Savannah never mentioned a Zac."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Dream grumbled.
"By the way, you're still grounded."
"Yippee! Yay," Dream said sarcastically.
And now she was lying in a hospital bed with some serious injuries.
Could life get any worse?

A/N
Okay, to start off, I'm very scared to upload this chapter, so once I publish it, I'm going to go hide.
Also, I may or may not have put Dream in the hospital, severely injured, because I thought the ski resort scenes were unrealistic. How many times can a person narrowly escape certain death?
Anyways, please don't kill me for it, lol. And thanks so much for reading! It would mean a lot if you could consider dropping a vote or a few comments <3
