Fake Job

"Good evening," a gentle but deep voice says from behind Nabi, "I hope I didn't miss too much."

Nabi turns around to see an extremely handsome, yet beautiful, man with light brown hair staring down at her. Nabi nearly chokes, but instead looks down at his shoes, which are black and look like they have been polished too many times.

"She's shy," Seori whispers loudly to Ryeok. "How adorable."

"I told you she's still my little girl," Worin lightly nudges Nerila, winking, "I can have her all to myself."

"I am Kim Seokjin, heir of the Ryeori enterprise," Seokjin says monotonously, "and you are?"

"My name is Sung Nabi," Nabi bows her head. "I am the only child of Nerila and Worin Sung."

"Why are you both so informal?" Ryeok squeezes his son's shoulders. "Don't worry Nabi, he's like this with all young ladies."

"He grew to be a handsome man," Nerila smiles at Seokjin, "I can't believe how much you have grown, and you're so polite! There you go Nabi, you said you only wanted him to be polite."

"Yes," Nabi quietly replies, intimidated by the handsome stranger standing over her, "I was wrong."

"Dinner should be ready by now," Ryeok takes his wife's hand and leads the way for the rest of the party. "I heard Nabi is a vegetarian, I hope you like fruit?"

Nabi nods before realising he can't see her, "I do."

Nabi frowns as her parents walk quickly away from her and Seokjin, Nabi knows what they're trying to do and she didn't like it.

"It must be nice being rich," Nabi clears her throat. "Getting everything you want, getting all the girls."

"You can't buy everything," Seokjin replies coldly, "I have no interest in girls that only see my money."

"Everything I want can be bought," Nabi thinks about the camera she has been saving up for five years. "You could change people's lives too, with charity and things."

"Or people judge you for not being interested in charity work because you're rich," he hasn't glanced at her once. "What is it that you want?"

"Many things," Nabi smiles, "but most of what I want I can only dream of being able to afford, like a camera for example."

"You would like a camera?" Seokjin finally looks down to Nabi, but she doesn't notice. "You like photography?"

"I love photography," Nabi looks at Seokjin and grins, "I love taking pictures in the moment, moments that wouldn't be caught otherwise. Unfortunately, being a photographer isn't a stable job so that's why I'm going to go to university, but I don't know how I am going to afford it."

"Being a photographer isn't a stable job," he says as if he's agreeing, "it isn't a job at all."

"It is," Nabi replies, not knowing how to react. "You don't think being a photographer is a real job?"

"What's a fake job?" Seokjin licks his lips, looking straight ahead. "You don't have to be talented nor work hard to be a photographer, therefore it's not a job."

"I guess you're entitled to your own opinion," Nabi crosses her arms, facing the other way. "Even if it's wrong."

"I am never wrong," Seokjin smirks at the frustrated expression on Nabi's face. "I am always right."

"You're quite annoying to talk to," Nabi says before she can stop herself, "I think you'd be more likable if you were nice, your looks are wasted, shame."

"I am honoured that you think I'm good looking," Seokjin replies, "I think so too, thank you."
