Alone
It was dark. Pitch black, I could hardly see a thing. Lucky enough for me that I had traveled this way so many times I could do it blind folded. The night was cold, an icy cold breeze caused me to bring my thin, battered coat closer to my skinny body. I stuck closer to the shadows, you could never be sure that you weren't being watched. It was eerily silent which was normal for this time of night. Only crazy people came out at night and I happen to be one of these crazy people. I prefer it at night, it hides the horrible truth that surrounds me. But I won't get to that right now. I have to concentrate and I can't let my guard down, not even for a second.
'Almost there.'
Suddenly, I heard it and ducked behind the rubble of a fallen building, not daring to move.
I could hear them coming. Slowly and steadily, a blue light illuminated out of them scanning the area for anything and everything that was alive. You see they kill anything in their path. No mercy. I have seen many people being slaughtered right in front of my very eyes, that always haunts me every time I close them. I couldn't bring my self to utter their name. It made me sick just thinking of it. They call themselves our masters and we are their cattle. These days, killings are less frequent, people learned to stay away from the predator, driving them into the shadows; underground anywhere away from here. Those who are unfortunate enough to get discovered get scanned and either are taken away somewhere I don't know where or are murdered.
They came closer. I have never been caught and was not going to break the habit anytime soon. They glided past me and I was left alone once more. I let out a breathe I didn't know I was holding and clambered to my feet and quickly continued on my way, there was no way in telling when they were going to come back.
'That was close, too close. Maybe I'll have to change my route', I thought to myself as I finally reached my destination. In front of me was once a posh hotel called 'THE COMFORT INN' which would have seen people from around the world through its doors, not anymore. The sign was now cracked and faded. The once light blue paint had chipped away showing the plain grey concrete and brick underneath. No matter how much destruction those things had caused, this building still stood tall and proud, you could say that this gave me comfort, this was my home.
I thought that I knew what the meaning of evil was... But no... You have never met true evil until you have come face to face to it yourself. And that, to whoever may find this. It is a written recording of my time in this hell and I hope that circumstances are better and that this will end because I fear that the human race will be wiped out from existence.
I will leave you with one word
