The Most Dangerous Fight (Game)

"Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated. He heard the hounds. Then leaped far out into sea. After general Zaroff looked over the cliff, he then left. Rainsford came out of the crashing water and gasped for air. Then he looked up towards the cliff to see if the general or the hounds were gone. After that he decided that the coast was clear, he stated the swim towards the mansion that he saw earlier on the cliff.

After a few hours he made it to the mansion and looked around to see any signs of Zaroff returning. After seeing no signs of him, Rainsford tried the front door but it was locked. So he thought for a minute and saw a window in the process. Surprised that the window was unlocked, he open it and climbed through. Just then he remembered that his shoes were dirty and didn’t want to leave a trail. He took off his shoes and socks to find his bare feet. He quickly closed the window and hid his shoes and socks hoping that they wouldn’t be found. He then found a small clean rag. "Perfect!" he thought. He cleaned off his bare feet with the clean rag, then wiped the dirt tail that was left behind. After putting the rag in his pocket, he rushed up stairs to the general’s room.

After an hour or so Rainsford heard rustling from outside the door. He was hiding in the closet. Then he heard the knob on the door unlock then it turned. Next Rainsford made a crack through the closet door to see the general looking out the window and mumbling something. This was the perfect time to come out and sneak next to his bed. So he did. He then hid in the curtains of the bed, waiting for the general to turn the light on.

Zaroff turned the light on and turned with a surprised, yet scared, look on his face. "Rainsford!" screamed the general. "How in God's name did you get here?" "Swam," said Rainsford. "I found it quicker than walking through the jungle."The general sucked in his breath and smiled. "I congratulate you," he said. "You have won the game."Rainsford did not smile. "I am still a beast at bay," he said, in a low, hoarse voice. "Get ready, General Zaroff."The general made one of his deepest bows. "I see," he said. "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford."

With that they both charged at each other, both yelling battle screams. Their screams were so loud that the hounds began to bark furiously, wanting to see what was going on and wanting to help their master. After 30 minutes or so the dogs seized their barking, their mouths were too full of human flesh, not caring who it was. Up in the room that held the battle was also quiet. There, on the bed, laid Rainsford. He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided.
