Chapter Twenty-Four - The Raid

Anton was roughly woken up with something cold pressed against his temple. His eyes flung open as his arms tightened around Oana. The barrel of a shotgun rested against his temple. Oana started to growl and get up, but Anton willed her to stay.

Flaviu and Robert stood above them. A third man dressed in all black held the shotgun to his head.

"Be smart, Anton," Flaviu's smile was too wide.

Anton glared up at them. "What the fuck are you guys doing?"

Robert chuckled. "What we were sent to do, Anton. What you were joining us for?" He motioned to Oana. "I think it'd be best if we took her."

Flaviu started to kneel beside Oana when she started to growl again. "I wouldn't get close, Flaviu," Anton sneered.

Flaviu rolled his eyes. "No matter what you do, both of you will be taken with us. There's no going against it right now." He turned his attention to Oana. "I have a gun pointed at your mate's head. I will not hesitate to kill him." His smile turned wicked. "We have the hut surrounded as well. You better come with us, Princess."

Anton, Oana's voice sounded small in his head. His heart hurt that he couldn't protect her right now. If he was able to morph he would rip all three of their heads off.

I'm here, my love.

She moved closer to him as his arms tightened around her. The man shoved the shotgun harder into Anton's temple. We have got to go with them. They have killed my people. I know they have. She looked up at him. Her eyes were begging him to comply with the people he used to call friends. We have got to go.

Anton groaned. He wanted to fight them, but he'll obey his woman. He glared up at the man. "Get that fucking gun out of my face."

"He can't do that, Anton," Flaviu answered cooly. "Once that gun is off of you, you'll have your little pet turn into whatever she is and kill us." He shook his head, ticking. "We can't risk that."

Anton shook his head as he started to slowly stand up. He grabbed Oana's hands and pulled her up with him. Robert took a step towards them. Anton quickly pushed Oana behind him. He looked down at Robert's hands and saw what looked to be a thick, metal collar.

"What do you think you're doing with that?" Anton asked him roughly.

Robert gave Anton an impatient look as he rolled his eyes. He held up the collar and motioned to Oana. "This collar is the only thing that will keep her beast at bay. She won't be able to morph even if she wanted to." He shrugged. "It's the only way to make sure that we're safe."

Oana placed a hand on Anton's arm. She moved around him to stand in front of Robert. She held her head high. "Go ahead. No more of my people will suffer."

Robert smiled smugly as he placed the collar around her neck. A small, red light came on once it snapped closed. Robert pressed a button on the front of her collar, releasing a long chain to come out. He wrapped the chain around his hand and roughly pulled her forward.

Anton started after them, not wanting to leave Oana, when Flaviu stopped him. "You're going to be in so much pain, boy."

Anton snapped his glare over to Flaviu. He pushed his hand off of his chest and took a step back. Robert and Oana were already out of the hut. Away from him. "What are you talking about?"

Flaviu poked him in his chest and stomach. "That feeling you get when you're around her, it'll burn. It'll burn when you're away from her for too long." He smirked. "She'll be in pain as well. Maybe even worse because she's able to morph." Flaviu quickly grabbed Anton's wrists and placed a pair of cold cuffs onto him. Pressing a button in the middle of the cuffs, another long chain came out.

Flaviu roughly pulled him forward. "Come on. Come see what you did."

"What I did?"

Flaviu nodded as he led him out of the hut. "You led us to this village. You led us to so many morphers, Anton."

Anton's stomach churned as he stepped out. All around him was chaos. Huts were on fire as people screamed. There were already morphers laying dead all around them as they made their way to the edge of the village. Blood pooled on the ground around them. Women wailed as they watched their mate's life fade in front of them. Women and children were being collared and pulled to the ships.

Anton dropped his head. Was this really his fault? It couldn't be. He didn't know about the trackers in his clothes. If he did, he would have pitched them the day that he met Oana. He picked up his head slightly and glared at Flaviu.

"Did you know that I would meet her?" he made sure that he could hear the venom in his voice.

Flaviu looked back at him. The smile on his face was wicked. "I did. Well," he sighed as he turned back around. "I didn't know you'd be mate's with the chiefs daughter, but I knew you had a mate somewhere here."

Anton shook his head. "Was all that you told me a lie to get me to come here?"

Flaviu shook his head. "No. It wasn't a lie." He stopped when they got to a large ship. He turned around to look at Anton. "Everything that I told you was true. You are extremely smart and will do very well in this field, but you understand that I had to take the opportunity to use you."

Anton shook his head. "No, Flaviu. You didn't."

Flaviu pulled on his chains dragging him closer to him. "I helped you."

"Helped me?" Anton screamed at him. He could already feel the pain starting in his chest. He tried to look around for Oana, but couldn't find her.

Flaviu smirked as he opened the hatch of the ship and pushed him inside. He sat him down in the passenger seat and locked him onto the arm of the seat. "You don't understand something, Anton." He paused as he got into the driver seat and buckled himself in. Anton watched as he began to press buttons on the control pad in front of them. "It is rare for someone like you to find a mate. My mother was a human and My father was a morpher. Half-breeds like me are extremely rare, but we can sense when someone was fated to have a mate." He looked over at Anton briefly before he started to take off. "Half-breeds don't have the luxury of finding their mate."

Antons eyebrows bunched together. "Robert found his."

Flaviu scoffed. "You actually believed that fucking story?" He shook his head at Anton's shocked expression. "He was lying. We can't find our mate's because we don't have one." He snuck a quick glance at him and smirked. "Thanks to you I'm getting a bonus."
