Chapter 15
Farrell’s P.O.V
*Time Skip To A Month Before Graduation*
I still find it a miracle till this day that both Connor and I managed to graduate high school with flying colours! Even though we have a nearly two year old twins running around, they don’t look nearly one; they are big enough to be considered three or four years old, according to Doctor Carter this is normal for werewolves. I can remember being like that, but Connor can and Eleanor even showed me pictures of Connor being their age; I have to say he looks SO ADORABLE! I have to think of it every time I look at Connor.
What surprised me even more was that Connor found time to play with the kids even though he had football practice, and we finally won the championship this year! Connor was sooo happy! Everybody else too for that fact, it took our team at least four years to climb back to the top. Connor says he has found a reliable new captain; Connor is a senior so he is not allowed to play this year (please correct me if I am wrong). As I walk back to the living room with a light lunch for the kids and Connor, I frown slightly; usually there is a lot of noise and giggling going on, but it is dead silent now.
I smile at the sight that greets me as I walk in; a play mat on the floor full of unused building blocks; the twin’s latest gift from their grandparents (mine), Connor lying across the small space not dominated by the building blocks, curled around the two sleeping little boys, who are in fact drooling a little. Silently I put the tray on the coffee table, pull out my phone and proceed to take a little photo shoot of Connor and the boys; I take a few close ups, a few wide shoots, and a few group shoots. Just as I put my phone away Connor wakes up, smiles as he sees me on the couch munching away on the lunch. He gently gets up as not to wake the boys and cuddles up to me on the couch.
I sigh as I feel Connor’s body heat creep into me; I love his heat, it makes me feel nice and warm inside and out. We don’t have a lot of alone time, because in no time the twins are up and climbing on our laps, munching on the lunch. I swear, sometimes they just do this to annoy me; Connor and I haven’t had a decent night alone without the twins interfering. I love the boys from the bottom of my heart; I really do but sometimes their timing is just really unfortunate.
When the twins finished their lunch they climb back on the ground to continue with their building blocks; I think they are trying to make a tower, but it keeps collapsing on them. I snicker silently when the twins are near to the end and just need to add one more block and the whole thing collapses on them yet again. It's times like these where the twins characters come to light; Brendan will sit there and try to figure out what went wrong, while Dermot just losses interest after a while and moves on to something else.
I phone my mom if she could take care of the twins for a few hours as I, Kate, Genesis, Natasha and Kelley go over the last assignments together for the last time. She was quick to agree, she loved spending time with them; she would bring some old stuff of mine for them to play with or just read old stories to them. They loved fairy-tales and an urban legends, when mom reads to them it is one of the few times that they are silent and stay put in one spot for a long time.
Just as I hang up the phone the doorbell rings, there’s Kate and the rest. Sure enough I hear the familiar giggling and high pitched laughing of the girls. Rolling my eyes, I open the front door and Kate waddles in followed by Genesis, Natasha and Kelley. The twins don’t know what to make of these giggling and squealing creatures and it shows on their faces as soon as they spot the girls. Not long after my mom walks in and the twins light up; they know granny is here to save them from the creatures. Mom takes the twins to the play room so that we can do the studying in the living room. While they get settled I make something to drink and to nibble on during the study session, we intensely study for the coming two hours before deciding we had enough and just share some gossip and what not.
Sipping my tea, I notice that Genesis is not looking very well; her colour is a bit off and she looks like she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep. “Gen are you okay? You look pale and very tired.” I put my hand against her forehead to feel if she has a fever. She just smiles at me, her eyes twinkling (she doesn’t wear her glasses any more, she wears contacts now), “Yes Farrell, I am fine, I just really wish that this was behind me so I can graduate and go to college.” “Yeah that would be awesome!” Kelley pips in “I can’t wait to start at Berkley’s. Maybe I will find my mate there.” And just like that the gossiping is over and everyone is talking about going to college, and what they are going to do after college.
After that they leave, saying their good byes, they walk away chatting to one and other. I closed the front door and am in the process of cleaning the coffee table when mom walks in saying the twins are in their cribs in the play room. I nod my head in thanks; without her, Thomas, Eleanor and Tom taking turns about caring for the twins I don’t know how Connor or I would have stayed sane.
After mom left, I went into the playroom to see the twins just like she said; Dermot was holding on for dear life to Brendan, and Brendan was holding on for dear life to Dermot. I tiptoe out of the room; they need their rest, they have had a busy day and I needed to get dinner started; Connor would be starving by the time he got home.
Connor’s P.O.V
I am really glad that my parents and Farrell's parents would gladly jump in when we needed their help; especially during the cram sessions we had for our graduation tests. Not only that but also with my football training and doing stuff pack related, it was hard work! Luckily I picked my rightful successor as quarterback, not everybody was happy but this guy would do everything in his power to make sure we stay in our top position, that’s all one could ask. My test already ended, but Farrell has one more to do before he could graduate and his test is somewhere this week, I would be happy if it all was over and we would have more quality time together as a family, and as a pack. What also makes me happy is that Farrell and I are going to the same college, so I really hope get to share a dorm together, but knowing my luck we won’t be in the same building.
Today’s meeting was boring as usual; a lot of bitching about the little ceremony that would be held as I rise to Alpha rank officially; I am technically Alpha already but dad insisted that I finish high school first, just like he did when he became Alpha. When the meeting was finally over, I try to rush out of the room before Mindy; the newest edition to our pack, sticks to me like glue, I guess she is either blind or stupid as I have told her repeatedly that I have a mate and two little kids. For some reason she either doesn’t believe me or she just ignores this fact.
“Connor? Do you have a minute? I need you to go over this document.” Sure enough here she is, annoying the hell out of me. “No it don’t have time now, I AM GOING HOME!” I snarl at her. She cowers like she should but she doesn’t give up; well if that’s so you can take it with you and will discuss it there.” I try counting to ten in my head as not to snap her neck just to make her shut up, and to add salt to the wound she says “It will be a good chance for me to meet your so-called mate as well.” I can’t snap her neck; she is my new secretary, so instead I glare at her and say “Fine! If that is what it takes to get you off my case then come!”
Babe? We will have one more guest to day for dinner; it’s Mindy she won’t leave me alone and she says you don’t exist. I feel Farrell’s anger seeping through our bond, as I stalk towards the house, but Farrell stays polite and says we have enough food for our unwanted guest as well. I open the door and there is Farrell; I crush him to my chest and inhale his unique scent; it always helps me calm down when I had a rough day. I hear a polite little chough behind me; telling Mindy was standing there waiting to be introduced.
Unwillingly I let go of Farrell and step aside; revealing Mindy; who thrusts out her hand and says “Hello, I am Mindy Alpha Lawson’s secretary, and you are?” I tense as I see Farrell shift his weight lightly, he grabs her hand squeezes it and says in the deep voice I love “Hi, I am Farrell Lawson, Alpha Lawson’s mate, your Luna.” I feel myself swell with pride as Farrell stays calm under Mindy’s questions barrage, to prevent property damage Farrell looked like he was going to blow up at Mindy; I ask Farrell the question: “Where are the boys love?” This thankfully stops the barrage and Farrell beams at me “They are in the living room, mom is with them. They just woke up from their afternoon nap.”
I made a beeline for the living room with Farrell and Mindy trailing behind me; I missed my little boys! As soon as I enter the living room the boys get excited; they started crawling towards me from their spot on the floor, making weird baby noises. Everything faded away, I can hear Farrell and Mindy talk in the background, something about kids, Elsie joined in, they moved away from me; probably towards the kitchen to take care of dinner.
Not long after that Farrell walks in and says it’s time for dinner, we each take a boy; I hold Dermot and Farrell holds on to Brendan, we put them in the play pen in the dining room as dinner is served. The conversation is pleasant until Mindy asks a question that in my opinion is very stupid; “How do you tell the two apart? I mean aren't they are exactly the same?” Farrell laughs quietly at this, “Their scent is different, not by much but just enough for me and Connor to tell who is who. But for people like you it might be harder, the best way to tell them apart is like this.” here he points at Dermot “This guy here is more like his dad Connor in a way; very bossy and easily distracted and he has a little birthmark near the corner of his right eye. “Brendan is a bit quieter and doesn’t have a birthmark anywhere on his face.” he said pointing to the little boy on the right.
Mindy seemed to think this over; “So you really are their mother and Connor’s mate?” Farrell just nods at her. I feel my rage boiling “How much more do you need to believe we are mates and they are our children? A BLOODY DNA TEST?!” Farrell puts a calming hand on my arm; it does calm me down a bit. “Well it’s just nobody ever sees your mate Alpha and some of the newer members think your mate doesn’t exist.”
Now it was Farrell’s turn to be angry, although he kept it better under control then I did; “Just because you don’t see me, doesn’t mean I don’t exist. Besides I still have one test to do before I can graduate, so I will do that first before showing my face to you newbies.” he huffed. “Connor, the boys need to go to bed now. They are tired.” And he was right, they were quite quiet, which is unusual for the hyperactive boys. Feeling that Farrell and Mindy need to talk about things not destined for my ears; I pick up both boys and walked upstairs towards their bedrooms. They whined the whole way there, they wanted Farrell there too. I hushed them saying that Farrell will be up later, for some reason they quieted down as if they understood what I say; that should not be possible; they are way too young for that.
Babe? Could you come up stairs? I don’t think the boys would be able to sleep before you came and tucked them in. Right, I am on my way. Not long after I hear the front door shut, and Farrell appears in the doorway. Smiling warmly at the boys he tucks them in their own beds, first Dermot and then Brendan, they each get a kiss on the forehead from both of us and they promptly fall asleep. Shaking his head at their antics Farrell leans on me, snuggling into me. Together we walk out of the room and leave the door open just a crack, to let in some light from the hall.
As soon as we were downstairs I flop down on the couch, groaning I put my feet on the coffee table and turn on the TV; wanting to see if anything worth watching was on, not seeing anything remotely interesting I settled for the six o’clock news. I hear Farrell rummage around in the kitchen; probably making tea and some coffee for me. Sure enough Farrell comes in holding a tray of two steaming mugs and a plate of cookies. He settles himself in my left side and my arm automatically wraps itself around him; pulling him even closer to me. Sighing he takes a sip of his green tea, “So I have my last test tomorrow and then I will come with you to the pack house and start a little training with your mother.” Taking a sip of my coffee; “Are you confidant about your test tomorrow? What time is you test tomorrow anyway?” Missing the next news headline completely I turn to Farrell, waiting for an answer.
"Tomorrow at eleven.” comes his answer not even taking his eyes of the TV screen. “I will be fine, it’s not that hard and I had my last study session today for it.” I squeeze his shoulder, “I am sure you will sail through it and graduate with the highest grades.” Farrell looks at me mockingly shocked before sticking out his tongue at me, swallow his last bit of tea and walks out of the room. In the kitchen I hear the tap running; he is probably rinsing his mug before putting it in the dishwasher. Swishing around my last bit of coffee I turn of the TV and swallow the last bit, pick up the tray and walk to the kitchen. Dump the tray on the kitchen table; put my mug in the dishwasher. Farrell rolls his eyes at me; he has told me repeatedly to rinse it before putting it in. he just sighs and bends forwards to take it out and rinse it. Instead of reaching the mug, I pick him up, kick the dishwasher shut and carry him upstairs.
Once upstairs I put him on the bed and give him a look; he better get ready for bed or else. Smirking at me he slowly starts to undress himself, to slow for my taste; so I lunge forward and rip off his sweater and tug at his pants. He unzipped it and shimmies out of them; he is just in his boxers, and dives under the covers before I can reach him, I rip off my own clothes besides my boxers and hop in; once in bed he snuggles into me draping and arm over my chest, and puts his head in my neck. Letting out a content sigh I fall asleep, and wake up to an empty bed, panic for a moment, but then remember Farrell has a test at eleven. Looking at the alarm clock I see that it’s already twelve. Rolling my neck I throw off the covers and hop in the shower.
The only thing I can do is wait for him to finish, and if there is something I hate most it is waiting. Of course the boys are awake, so I take them downstairs to the kitchen where I try to feed them. I almost give up after most of the food ended up on my shirt instead of their mouths, sighing I reach for a cloth to wipe them clean, but seeing that they are still hungry I make another batch of baby food for them and this time they eat everything. After that I put them into the bath, which got me soaked to the bone so I take a bath with them, and then I put them in the pen in the kitchen so I can have my own breakfast. I just finished my breakfast when Farrell walked in the door with a big smile on his face, telling me his test went well.
