Chapter Seven: (SiaCallisto)

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Swearing, brief mention of death, weapons, blood

Anxiety clawed at Roman's throat as he thought back. That creature...

Remus called it the Tenebris, a monster among monsters. A demon born from hellfire and malice. Even as Roman thought of it, a shiver ran down his spine like icy fingertips. His memory was a blur. That dark dreary night twisting with nightmares.

A joke. It had been a joke.

Remus didn't mean to.

His twin didn't mean to create the Tenebris. A sadistic monster than fed off people's physical and emotional pain. Draining them.

Roman focused his eyes on Virgil. The anxious side was leached off colour, his eyes hollow and tired, his skin painted in wounds and bandages. It had gotten him. It had run after Thomas too. Holy Greek gods. The panic only then sunk in. The panic which grabbed him so tightly, like cords wrapped around his limbs and throat. Tightening and tightening until he felt as though he couldn't breathe.

Remus had dull eyes sharper than daggers. "Janus... That creature... It has Janus." Roman gulped down the sorrow and pity as he heard how Remus' voice trembled. Remus tightened his grip on the morning star, his knuckles turning white. "I'm going to slit that thing's throat and let it choke on it's own blood."

Patton's eyes glimmered with concern, "Remus-"

"That monster is going to kill him." Remus had a cold voice. A voice too calm that it was terrifying. That is was deadly.

At this point Thomas was dead silent. His chocolate eyes wide and lips locked together.

The intrusive side twisted his heel around, starting to make for the door. Roman reached out, grabbing his brother's wrist. "Remus! Think! The Tenebris wouldn't do this all alone!" Remus turned to face his brother while Roman continued. "Sure, the creature's impulsive, but..." Roman's eyes widened.

"It wouldn't do this alone." Remus finished for him.

Virgil bit his bottom lip, his dark hair falling into his eyes. "Do you think...?"

"The unknown," Remus stated.

Logan, Patton, Roman and Thomas all shared the same look of utter confusion. "In the dark scape... T-there was a dark side we called the unknown." Virgil muttered.

Remus ran a hand through his greasy brown hair, "We didn't know him well, didn't even know what he represented. Jan made sure we didn't. Janus kept us far away from him."

Virgil reached his pale hand out, playing with the strings on his jumper. "If the Tenebris and Unknown te-teamed up..."

Remus cursed under his breath, "We need to find Jan, now!" He stormed out of the room swiftly. Everyone stood in paralysed shock. Cold silence filled the air.

Logan pushed his glasses up, "Ahem, Virgil will not be able to come. As his legs-"

"Won't work. I know... I... Can't feel them. Like I said before." Virgil's eyes darted to the ground, not daring to meet with anyone's.

Roman wrapped his hand around the hilt of his sword. "...He'll get himself killed."

"Remus?" Patton questioned quietly.

Roman gave a slight nod, "We need to find the Tenebris and this 'unknown'."

"Princey, the Unknown is powerful! There's a reason Janus kept him away!" Virgil croaked; his tired eyes drowned in deep worries.

The light creativity sighed, fiddling with the cuffs of his shirt. "I know... I know it'll be suicide to go in there. But... Remus is my brother." He shook his head, eyes seemingly glowing with unwavering determination. "...I'd do the same for any of you. And right now, Remus and De-Janus need us."

"Well I can't really come," Virgil stated with thinning patience.

"Neither should Thomas," Logan added.

The host turned his brown eyes towards the logical side, "But Logan-"

"It's to keep you safe Kiddo..." Patt said quietly.

"Well, whoever's coming can come now. I'm not waiting around," Roman strode out, confidence and bloodlust stringing and knotting itself around him.

Time was ticking by. Every second a deadly waste.

Patton swallowed harshly, his big innocent eyes looking to everyone. "...I think I can help Verge."

"W-what?" Virgil inquired hastily.

"It'll take a bit and... A lot of energy, but I think I can fix your legs. Or at least, the majority of the issue..." Patton's words were weak but his stature strong. He had the kind of expression which warned you he had made up his mind.

Logan tapped his foot anxiously on the ground, "Patton, are you sure?"

He nodded. "I can heal Verge and then stay with Thomas! Then you and Vee can go after the twins!"

Virgil bit into his bottom lip. He could help... But he was terrified. That monster... The Tenebris... God it was horrifying to just think about! But he pushed it all down. Folded that fear into the darkest corner of his mind. He'd be strong. He'd protect Thomas. It was his job as anxiety. He would prove it. Prove he was strong enough.

Virgil let out a shuttering breath, "I'm ready."

Patton nodded and approached looking at his bloodied, messed up legs. It made the anxious side want to throw up. Virgil lifted his chin, looking away from his own legs. Suddenly, the numb limbs felt warm. Sparking with energy and life. Virgil melted into the sensation, into the touch. Feeling it run through his veins, dance through his nerves and repair his muscles. It felt addictive. A sensation he didn't want to end.

But the darkness crept through his mind. He had to get Janus back. Had to destroy this Tenerbis and... Well, who knew with the Unknown. He was powerful to say the least. And that's what scared Virgil the most... Was that Janus could be with him right now. And revenge would be the first gift the Unknown gave the deceitful side.

And the last. Might be death.

A jolt rain through his body and a gasp fell from his lips. Shooting his head towards Patton who seemed half awake. "Patt?" Virgil leant forward, feeling his feet hit the floor as he got up. "I'll be okay... Just... Save them..."

Virgil slowly walked over to a dresser which had two curved daggers. Slowly, his hands connected with them.

Virgil glanced at Logan, "We have a monster to kill."

I really hope that was okay and enjoyable! As for who to tag, I pick my good friend Maybay4 I think she can provide awesome angst and great plot!
