Chapter 6: Glowing Eyes.
"Amelia, Seras, I would like to formally introduce you to Captain Pip Bernadotte and his crew. They will be serving as our new guards."
We all turned our attention away from the frenchies to Sir Integra.
The man known as Pip, sat back in his chair and crossed his legs.
"Thank you Sir Integra. I think I mean this for all of us when I say it will be an honor working for and protecting you." He said in a thick accent.
"Come to think of it, what exactly are we protecting you from?" He asked.
Integra took out a cigar and placed it in her mouth. Walter brought out a lighter and lit it for her.
A small cloud of smoke surrounded her face as she chuckled at the Captain's question.
"Well Captain, you will be protecting us from dastardly beings. Super natural creatures, if you will. Such as vampires and armies of ghouls." She said in an amused way.
The Captain looked at Sir Integra as if she had two heads.
He placed both of his hands on either side of his hips and threw his head back in a chuckle.
"You mean to tell me I am actually supposed to believe that these things exist? It's impossible!" He said with another chuckle.
"It's true. The enemies are immortal creatures who sustain themselves by drinking human blood. Your job gentleman is to fight these monsters with bullets, garlic and holy water. Put a stake through its heart, cut off his head, burn the corpse, scatter the ashes at the crossroads." Integra explained as she took a draw off her cigar.
"With all do respect, everyone knows there's no such thing as vampires." One of the recruits added in.
"Then everyone is quite mistaken. Or more accurately, we've helped to maintain the state of blissful ignorance. For over a century the Hellsing organization has served the British Empire. Fighting a secret war against the forces of darkness. The vampire in particular. For those of you who still need convincing, I present to you...A genuine vampire!" Integra said as she pointed to Seras.
"Ah!? Oh no. Just hold on. You...you are really a vampire?" Pip asked.
Seras nodded her head and the men burst out into laughter.
"Sir," Seras turned to Integra. "I have the feeling they're laughing at me..."
"Then show them something to make them stop, police girl."
Seras nodded.
"Hahahahahahaha! If this is supposed to be a vampire, then I'm Frankenstein's Monster! Aargh!" The captain exclaimed.
Seras grinned and thumped his chest, continuously at lightening speed, which was harder than you would think considering her incredible strength.
Pip grabbed at his chest. One of the officers ran to his Captain's side.
"Captain! Are you alright?"
"She is some kind of monster! I just...She kept poking me with the...It happened so fast! And my head was just...I don't believe it. You're really telling me that girl is a vampire?" Pip asked while continuing to clutch at his chest.
"Damn Right she is. The police girl maybe the lowest of the low, but a vampire is still a vampire." Alucard said while phasing through the wall, scaring the whole group in the process.
Alucard threw his head back in laughter.
"What a pathetic bunch of snivelling cowards. Do you really think these men will be of any use to us?" Alucard asked.
Walter stepped in front of Alucard and placed a hand over his chest.
"My deepest apologies Sir, I did try to stop him."
Alucard chuckled once more.
"These men are going to be guarding me as I sleep. I wanted to take their measure."
He nodded towards the shaking men.
The captain stood up and placed a finger on Alucards chest. Everyone in the room held their breath.
"With all do respect Sir, we are very good at what we do. We do not need someone to-" Alucard grabbed his hand, cutting him off.
"Look frenchie, I do not know who you think you are, but you are just a mere helpless human being to the rest of us. I do not need you to do anything for me, so if you would not like to lose your whole arm, I suggest you remove it." He said with a growl.
Integra threw her cigar to the ground and crushed it with her boot.
"My apologies Captain, this is Alucard. He promised he would behave today." She said, putting a little too much emphasis on 'behave'.
Alucard shrugged his shoulders and left the room. The men let out a breath of air.
"This is our newest member of the organization, Amelia." Integra said while turning to me.
I took a small bow.
"Is she a vampire as well?" The captain asked.
Integra nodded her head.
"Yes indeed she is. She was turned by our very own Alucard."
The Captain stood from his chair and slowly walked to me. He stared at me for a few moments as if he were pondering something.
"So my sweet, what can you do?" He asked.
I looked to Sir Integra for guidance, considering I had not found that out for myself yet.
"Just do what feels natural to you Amelia." She said.
I slowly nodded and closed my eyes. A few chuckles from the men rang through my ears.
I zoned them out and tried to search within myself something I had not done before.
I let out a small breath and the room became very chilled.
"W-what the hell is happening?" Someone called out.
I felt a singe of pain shoot throughout my body and then stop all at once. I slowly brought my hands before my face and intertwined my fingers, and then something deep within myself sounded throughout the room.
I slowly opened my eyes and the room was swallowed by darkness. I looked around my body and noticed a small fog of black emulating from me.
Little red eyes and sharp teethed mouths began to pop out in the fog. Somehow I could control where the fog went, so I tried to remember where the Captain was sitting. Once I remembered, I extended my arm in his direction.
The fog practically melted off of the top of my hand and poured onto the ground. It slowly wrapped around his feet and crawled up his legs.
"W-what the. What is this? Sir Integra! Make her stop!" The captain called out.
Sir Integra chuckled lightly in the distance.
The fog crawled up his legs and around his torso until it was right in front of his eyes.
He slowly opened them and a pair of red eyes and sharp teeth opened from the fog and jumped right at him.
The Captain let out a shriek that sounded like a wounded animal crying out for help.
"Alright Amelia, that is quite enough." Intrgra spoke quietly.
I nodded and drew my hand back. The fog trailed off of Pip and ran back into my hand. I took a deep breath and the darkness slowly faded until the light of the room was returned to normal.
The light revealed the whole group of men huddled together with the Captain in dead center shaking.
"S-she's a. I d-don't. H-how did she." Pip stuttered.
"Did I not say she was turned by our very own Alucard? The King of vampires. The No-life King. The most horrified creature that has ever lurked on this planet. She is an Alucard prodigy after all." Integra said.
"Please, my master." A deep voice sounded through the room. "You do not have to boast about me. And yes, she is."
Alucard said as he appeared behind the huddle of frenchies cornered in the room.
The men shrriked once more in a comical way.
"Alucard. Can you quit terrorizing our guests?" Integra said.
Alucard bowed his head. "My apologies master, they are just so gullible." He chuckled.
Integra rolled her eyes playfully.
Alucard raised his head up and a pair of glowing red eyes met mine. Something inside of me felt odd. He slowly stalked towards me until he was a few inches from my face.
He leaned in close enough to where our noses were almost touching.
"Nice work, new girl."
