Monsters were never meant to be cute.

∆Samuel's POV∆

"Wow, impressive," Samuel laughed, jumping down from the tree. "You did so much better than I thought you would to be honest."

He was impressed, her fighting was almost professional. She must train with someone, he'd have to look into that. He reach to where she stood, by the monster. He smiled at her, but it went unnoticed.

His motorcycle was wrecked since, somehow in the middle of the fight, it was in the way of the monster and Sammie. Perhaps she just wanted to use it as a shield?

Speaking of Sammie, she was bruised and had a small gash on her forearm. Her face gave nothing away. She had worked to the point of exhaustion, sending the monster to the ground over and over. The monster was currently mewling, and whimpering helplessly on the ground beside the motorcycle.

Probably for the best since Sammie was unable to recreate her green flames to protect herself. Who knew she had it in her? He figured she end up seriously hurt. The monster rolled around unable to get up. This one must be the one from Rosewell.

Sammie tried to stay standing on her own, her breathing uneven. Even so, Samuel had to hold Sammie up, his arms wrapping around her. Finally she bucked, and fell against his chest. She was breathing hard. Samuel admired the aftermath of the battle. She truly was a strong one, maybe after some training she'd be stronger. He could hardly wait.

Huge chunks of fur, and skin started falling off the monster, littering the ground. Underneath was a naked, and bloody human. Sammie gasped, pushing away from Samuel, running to the now human's side. She placed her hands on it. Despite it getting blood on her hands.

"You said it was a monster!" She screamed. "You never sai-"

"It is a monster, no matter what it looks like," Samuel cut her off, he looked it over disgusted. It will always be a monster. The monster looked like a twenty some year old guy now. Eyes closed, and still making weird sounds.

The fight had been enjoyable to see. Very well worth the injuries she had gotten. Sammie done very well in her fight with the nasty thing. He even caught the flash of excitement and pride that had chased across her features each time an attack knocked the monster off its feet.

"I'm still sensing some hesitation," Samuel said, pulling his cell out. He snapped a picture, and smiled.

"But I think you've made some real progress, don't you?" he added, when she failed to get the hint. It didn't feel like a monster to her anymore. All she felt was guilt, he judged by her face. She was an open book.

"There we go!" he dropped his face down closer to hers, cutting off her view of the monster. "See? As long as you keep pleasing me like this, you'll be perfectly safe, Samitch."

He looked over in the bruises, and scrapes covering her frame. "Geez, you got banged up. Let me help."

Samuel hated to use the ointment, but since it was mending the relatively minor wounds he'd caused he didn't mind this time. Sammie tried, and failed to wriggle away from the arm extending toward her. But he couldn't just leave his toy broken, not after seeing what she could really do now. He was going to keep her around for a long time. Much longer than..

"Ta-Da!" he pulled out a small mason jar filled with pink goop. In seconds, the cut, and bruises were covered in the strange sticky goop. The marks on her had all but disappeared in the few seconds. "All better!"

He almost pitied her, but she was the one with the magic. Magic that he needed. Sammie didn't say thank you, Samuel chalked it up to fatigue or sleepiness. It was close to three in the morning, and it had been quite a workout. He grinned at her.

"Now," he said, "I'd like us to keep having this special practice a few times a week, just to get you some control over it. Sound good?"

Sammie shook her head weakly. She turned his head away, hiding her face. "No."

Samuel grinned and, craned his neck to the side. "You don't have much of a choice, do you?"

He showed her his phone, and the pictures he took of her next to the now human shape. It's blood on her hands. Time for some lies.

"I also sent this to my laptop. So if I go missing my brother knows where to go." He lied, shrugging as if wasn't any bother to him.

Gently, he tipped her chin up with a finger, forcing her to meet Samuel's eyes. She stiffened, but didn't fight against his grip. She was learning fast what he really was. She'd be a good toy to have around for awhile, and if he got bored he could always find another.

"I can't do it." She sobbed, the weight of what she did finally sinking in. "I-I can't kill."

"Of course, you will," He smiled, and pulled back. She didn't run. That was promising, very promising. He couldn't wait for next time.

Sammie watched, wary, as he looped an arm around her shoulders. She flinched when he leaned against her, but didn't fight or try to run away. She was being quiet, too. That might have been the most impressive accomplishment of the night. She never stopped talking, mostly in an attempt to woo him. Ha! Idiot.

"I don't want you to be afraid of me, sweet samitch." Now that Samuel had let his arm around her, Sammie's face changed. There was suspicion, and fear in the her face that he'd never seen before. That was exactly what he wanted, to make the naive dumbass wake up to the reality that is Humanity. She needed to learn this world was dangerous, and he was going to teach her.

"Seeing you succeed, and get stronger makes very me happy. Because I'm your bestie, isn't that right samitch?"

"Y-yes." She didn't look at him.

"From here on out, just remember that no-one is to know about this," he said, smiling. "It'd be our little secret, okay?"

"Okay," she muttered, her face blank.

He giggled. "Samitch, are you just agreeing with me so I'll let you go?"

She cringed, and sputtered for a few seconds to spit out a lie. "I-I ye- I mean. Yeah, I am."

"Ha, you're so honest. I've always liked that about you. It's okay, Sammie," He said, giving her a playful nudge on her shoulder. "I know this is a lot to get your head around, and you're not used to thinking. So why not go home, and restup, huh? You've earned it, sweetheart."

With that, Sammie walked off, stumbling and shaky. After a few paces, Samuel called after her. "Hey, samitch?"

The girl stopped short, looking back over her shoulder. Her pretty face fearful.

"Remember that you're keeping my secret!" He winked. "If you tell anyone, I'll tell the cops, got it?"

After a long hesitation, she nodded. "I got it."

"Good!" he stated. He had a good feeling about this time. No-one had to die this time. He looked back at the monster, his green eye narrowing as he sees that it was digging up some skeleton flowers.

Well, no-one human was going to get hurt at least. Pulling his switchblade out, he smiled.

This was going to be a lot of fun.
