A Mistake

Alek stood on his balcony, his shirt sleeve rolled up so his arm wasn't restrained. He closed his eyes, listening to the sounds of the garden. A quiet knock interrupts his thoughts and he opens his eyes.

Bridgette sits in the library, thinking over her choices and trying to decide which would be best.

L: (My alarm went off and I nearly had a heart attack because in my dream you and I were sneaking around this house because we were trying to stop this evil magician guy from killing someone and oh gosh I just about died)

A: (omg wtf)

Alek clears his throat, pulling on his jacket, which went up over his neck and arms. He held to the handle of the sword and opened the door. He sighed seeing Evelyn and set the sword back down. "Hello Alekar." She said, she seemed anxious.

A: (Is watching with fear)

Alek nodded, glad he had practiced speaking. "Evelyn. Is there something you need?" His voice was nearly normal, a slight bit quieter than normal. Evelyn stepped into his room, leaning against the door to close it. "That depends..."

A: (HNNNN I NEED TO TAKE A QUICK SHOWER SO CONTINUE I'LL BE WATCHING)

Alek thought nothing of it and bowed to her. She walked over to him, placing a hand under his chin and making him stand upright. He looked at her confused. "Evelyn why are you here?"
She places her hands on his chest, a simple smile on her face. "I only mean to help you..." She backs him against the wall, her hands moving down to his sides.

Alek gently pushes her away from him. "Evelyn I'm not an idiot. I know what you're doing. Get o-" She silences him with a kiss, holding to his head with one hand as the other searches for the buttons on his jacket. Alek blushes but pushes her away again when she touches the first button. "What has gotten into you?"

"I need a hero~" she whispers in his ear, twisting a strand of his hair. Alek tries to step away but hit the wall once more. Her hands roam his torso. "Someone strong... someone brave..."

A: (I'M DECIDING ON WEATHER TO HAVE BRIDGETTE COME IN CAUSE SHE NEEDS TO GIVE HIM FOOD AND NEEDS HELP WITH THE DECISION, OR IF AHHHHHH)

"I need you Alekar~" she whispers into his ear, grazing her teeth over his skin. He shivers.

"My lady, I don't think that-" she kisses him again but he remains resistant. He pushes her away and moves by his desk. "Evelyn that is enough! I've known you long enough to see this is... abnormal!"

A: (AHHHHHHHHHHHHUH ALEK BABY I LUV UUUUU BE STRONG FOR BABY BRIDGETTE)

"I'm just... crazy for you then." She pushes him back against the desk.

"Evelyn this isn't you. I want you to stop at once." He says, his tone cold.

A: (.... IMMA HAVE BRIDGETTE COME SHIZ FAM.)

Monarch gets some breakfast for Alek in the kitchen, her mind still swimming with the decision she would have to make.

Evelyn pushes herself against him. "Alekar, I know that you do... you want me..." she pulls herself on top of him so her neck was by his head. "I grant you permission... "

Monarch walks up to his room and knocks on the door "Alek? May I come in? I brought you some food and there is something I need to discuss with you..."

Alek turns his head to face her. "Bridgette I-" she grabbed his face, kissing him roughly.

A: (IT'S MONARCH ALEK AHHG MONARCH SHIZ)

She walks in "Alek-?" she drops the tray and glass shatters as she stares at the scene.

Alek had his hands on her shoulders, trying to push her off. He successfully did, sending Evelyn into the desk's chair. Alek wipes his mouth, his eyes looking at Bridgette. "B-Monarch! Thank the heavens..."

Evelyn giggles to herself, smiling.

Monarch shakes her head and her heart shatters. She grabs her arm and looks away, stepping back and trembling. Her mind swims with emotion and her stomach churns, as if she wants to throw up.

Alek stands moving towards her. "It isnt what it looks like, I promise!"

Evelyn moves up, grabbing his arm. "Of course not~" Alek pulled his arm away, moving away from her.

Monarch whimpers and shrinks back, her heart aching. She runs to her room as fast as she can, shutting the door.

She thinks to herself, "If I go back home, Alek can marry her right? Then the kingdom will be happy... he'll be happy... and Timber won't get what he wants! And he won't hurt Alek because I won't be there..." tears fill her eyes and she goes to the bed, searching for the chalk.

When she can't find it she begins panicking, searching everywhere in the room.

Suddenly, a voice comes from the shadows "Are you looking for these~?"

She whips around to see timber, holding the chalk in his hand. Her eyes widen and she stares, still shaking from before.

Timber chuckles and she whimpers "P-please... t-those take m-me back home!"

He smirks "... I know..." he crushes them in his hand, opening his palm and letting the remains scatter around the room.

Bridgette gasps and shakes her head "N-no! No no- wait!" She runs and falls on her knees at his feet, as if putting the dust together might work.
She stares at the ground, her eyes wide and full of tears, her body shaking with pain.

Timber leans down and whispers in her ear "I hope you've made your decision~" he laughs and stands up, snapping his fingers and disappearing.

Alek knocks on the door, his chest pained. "Bri-MONARCH! Please you have to hear me out! My dear, my love, please!" His voice was pained and cracking.

Bridgette felt empty and tears rolled down her bewildered face. She was paralyzed and failed to move or speak. Her heart was broken.

Alek heard no response, his forehead hitting the door. His hand lay flat. "Please... speak to me..."

She whimpers and looks up at the door. Hearing his voice does nothing but put the image of him and Evelyn in her mind. Each moment she thinks of it sends pain. "A... alek...?"

Alek looks at the floor, his head still pressed against the wood. "Bridgette... please let me in..." his voice is soft and quiet as he pleads.

Her voice is so broken and pained, so empty yet full of heart ache. She hesitates and realizes she forgot to lock the door. She says nothing and whimpers more at the images.

Alek hears no more responding, placing his hand on the doorknob and pushing the door slowly open. He sees Bridgette and feels as though he was being crushed. "My dear Monarch..." his voice is soft, sorrowful. He moves to her, kneeling in front of her. His eyes widen seeing the white powder. "...oh my..."

She cries, the image stronger. She suddenly feels awful about herself and grabs her ears, yanking them down and making sure she is wearing the necklace.

Her hands are covered in chalk and her wide eyes stream tears. She curls up and turns away from him, aching with pain. "W-why d-don't you-you l-like me...?" She whines and whimpers.

He places a hand on her back. "Bridgette, please... I love you! You mean the world to me! I never wanted to... I tried to stop her... I hadn't done enough..."

Her eyes flick back and forth from slitting to normal, and she says in her demonic voice, "Liar..." She trembles and feels her heart break more, tears still streaming.

Alek frowns. "Bridgette... do you trust me?" His eyes were empathetic, yet his face was stone.

"I-i want to..." She cries and crawls away from him, shaking her head "B-but I don't k-know..." The image flashes again and she chokes on a sob as she shuts her eyes, trying to make it go away.

"Bridgette, trust me for a little longer..." Alek sits down, looking only at her. "Evelyn came to me, she... did what she did. I told her to leave, she didn't... I'm sorry for not doing everything I should have." He looks down. "But... I was worried. She had been my only friend before you... and I want you..."

She shakes and holds herself "I-it feels bad w-when I see it... i-t feels r-really really bad..." She cries and whimpers, holding tighter "I-it makes m-me feel not special o-or important t-to you... d-doesnt make me f-feel worth it..." She cries and tries to be as honest as she can, yet hardly able to speak.

"And yet you are! You mean everything to so many people. You mean everything to me. I would give anything for you." Alek holds his hand out to her, his fingers shaking. "It hurts... it hurts to see you in pain."

She cries more and finds herself unable to move "T-then help me! Help me please!" She sobs and hiccups, breaking.

Alek moves to her, putting an arm around her and using the other to pile the chalk. "I'll find a way to fix it... I'll get you back home... I'll be by your side until you say otherwise..."

She shakes her head and hiccups, the image playing again. She leans into him and tries to get as close as possible, trying to feel some part of his love. Though the image continues to play. "Y-you can't f-fix it..." She sobs.

Alek turns to her, holding her face in his hands. "Then tell me what to do, anything you want, please!"

She cries and looks into his eyes, trying to take deep breaths. She focuses on him and tries to forget the image, shaking terribly. "L... l-lo..." She tries to speak but it doesn't come out right.

Alek watches her for a moment, understanding what she wanted. "I already do." He leans forward, kissing her.

She shuts her eyes tightly and kisses back weakly. She tries to pull him closer and whines a bit.

He hugs her tightly, holding her as close as possible, being sure not to hurt her. He kisses for a moment longer before pulling away. "I love you. Don't ever tell yourself otherwise."

She stares at him with wide eyes that gloss with tears. She hiccups. "P-please d-dont lie to m-me...."

Alek frowns. "I'm not..." he looks her in the eyes and pulls her close, hugging her with his head by her neck.

She whimpers and curls close to him. She relaxes slightly, trusting him. "E-Evelyn... I t-trusted her..." She shakes her head "I-i don't want to trust her a-anymore..."

Alek leans into her. "As did I..."

"W-why did s-she do that?" She trembles and pulls him close, curling up and leaning against him.

Alek thinks for a moment. "I'm not sure. I was fairly positive she thought I was boring..."

"She... She did... She told me herself..." Bridgette looks up at him and trembles as she lightly kisses his cheek.

"Hm..." he chuckles, still worry and sadness in his eyes. "Am I?"

Bridgette shakes her head "N-no! Y-you're anything but boring!" Her voice is still hurt and broken, and she looks up at him with wide pained eyes.

He kisses her cheek. "And you are a miracle, a star..."

"A-a monarch..." She smiles a bit and blushes curling closer to him.

"My beautiful butterfly." He holds to her.

"Y-yeah... and you're mine too..." She pouts "You better not forget it..."

"I'm your knight, at your service, dear lady." He smiles lightly.

"Yes... MY knight..." She holds him close and narrows her eyes, still pouting like an angry child. "ONLY mine."

"And yours alone." He agrees. "After all you were the one who tried to hand me off to another woman."

Her smiles falls and her eyes turn glossy again "D-does that m-mean it was my fault? I-if you were going t-to go with h-her I wanted y-you to at least tell me!" She stands up with shaky legs and lays on her bed, shoving her face in her pillow.

He sighs. "That's not what I was saying." He moves by her side, sitting down. "I only meant to show that even when you pushed me away, I knew I couldn't live without you..."

"I-i..." She looks at him and whimpers "I can't get i-it out of my head Alek.... i-it hurts my heart..."

He looks to the side. "I know..." Alek places his hand on hers. "...I know..."

"I.... I'm sorry..." She trembles "B-but... c-can you...." She blushes and twiddles her fingers.

Alek looks to her. "Huh?"

"Can y-you stay with me... j-just for tonight...?" She looks at him worried.

He smiles. "As you wish."

She blushes and smiles wide, "T-thank you!' She hugs him tightly.

Alek lays down by her. "I'd do anything for you, no need to thank me." He twists a strand of her hair. "Besides... I like being near you."

She nods and curls close. She whispers "... Timber was in my room today..."

"He..." Alek holds tighter to her. "...did... he do anything?"

She trembles "H-he smashed the chalk..." She doesn't feel comfortable telling him about the choice. "I-i can't ever go home again... and mama and papa will be so worried! Oh Alek I don't know what to do!" She sits up quickly and looks at him with worried eyes.

He rubs her arm. "I'll see if I can put it together... I'll... I'll research it and you can help."

She shakes her head "Alek it's all dust now! And most of it is scattered all over the room!" She trembles and looks down "And tomorrow your father makes his choice, and Evelyn is going to marry you." Her muscles tense and she grabs her ears, pulling them down "A-and I'll be stuck here- with Timber! And I'll have to watch you be with Evelyn and I can never see papa again and-"

"Enough!" He holds his hands to her shoulders, looking into her eyes. "I won't let that happen. It will be okay."

She trembles and tenses "B-but how can we fix this?! There is too much!"

"We'll fix it." Alek says simply. "We will figure it out."

Bridgettes ears lower and she looks down. She nods slowly and lays down.

Alek sits by her side, a hand on her stomach. "I will be there... I will help you."

Bridgette doesn't answer, and she shuts her eyes and falls asleep.

Alek waits till she was asleep before removing his hand, moving to the pile of chalk dust. He scooped it into his hands, or as much as he could. He put it into a drawer in her desk. He closes the drawer, safely storing away the chalk dust. He pulls her chair next to the bed, sitting down with a hand on his hilt. He hums quietly, planning what he would do in the morning.
