Y/N POV

I was startled as something, or someone launched themselves at Chris with a shriek that was clearly female. Chris easily countered the lunge and pushed the attacker back, quickly raising his semi-automatic weapon and ordering "Show me your hands!"

The figure in question did exactly that and I swear, my blood ran cold when I saw none other than MIA stood before us. But wait, something like this had happened before, and it was just a hallucination. Donna may be dead now, but Miranda may have had other means to replicate Mia, just as she had done before.

Chris must have had the same concern as he asked into his communicator. "Umber Eyes, this is Alpha. Where is Miranda right now?" The voice of one of Chris' men replied "Still at the ceremony site. Whatever she's doing, she's staying put."

And just like that, my suspicions dissolved completely. Chris slowly lowered his weapon, speaking in wonder "Goddamn, it really is you." I however, dropped my serious, intellectual side and rushed towards my sister exclaiming "MIA!"

We wrapped around one another in a tight hug as she just whispered "Y/N. I'm so pleased to see you." I replied "I've looked all over for a sign that you may be here." Eventually we parted, I stood back as Chris once more spoke up.

"I'm glad you're safe Mia. Why are you here?" Mia's breathing became frantic, as if it stressed her to remember. Nevertheless, she answered "I was caught. And used in experiments." Chris' communicator went off. "Wait, did you say Mia? Mia Winters?"

Chris stated "In the flesh." Before asking "What's the situation up there?" The soldier explained "Kind of a war going on. Nothing we can't handle." We exited the holding cell, Chris ordered "Don't get distracted. Stick to the mission. I'm headed to the ceremony site."

Mia's head snapped up as she exclaimed panicked "Wait, you can't leave me here! You promised damnit! You said you'd keep us safe!" She stomped angrily towards Chris, continuing a rant which I completely agreed with. "We did everything you asked! We moved here, everything! And I didn't care, so long as we were together! So you tell me, where is my husband? Where is my daughter?!"

Chris was about to reply however I responded first, what was said was probably best coming from me. "Ethan is, he's gone..." Mia didn't say anything, she went silent and looked at the floor. I added "I'm sorry. He never should have been brought into this." Chris nodded, adding "I couldn't save him. But I can save Rose." 

The ground around us suddenly began shaking, I knew whatever it was, it couldn't be good. Chris gestured for us to follow as he said "Come on, it's not safe here after all." Now was the point where Mia finally wanted answers "What do you mean he's gone?!" Chris bluntly snapped, clearly growing inpatient. "He's dead! I'm sorry Mia, but we have to leave. We have to destroy this village."

I abruptly raised my hands "Hey! Whoa, whoa! I'm not leaving here without Rose, Chris! I don't care how dangerous it is!" Mia proceeded to blurt out "No! You're wrong! I tried to keep this a secret but-." She trailed off for a moment, I turned to her asking "Keep what secret?"

Mia looked down for a moment, as if contemplating even now, whether she wanted to tell us or not. She finally looked up though "-You both don't understand how special he is." I stepped forward "Mia what are you talking about?"

Mia muttered "You're probably not going to believe this and think I'm crazy. But I just ask that you take what I'm about to tell you seriously and trust me. Promise me that!" Chris nodded "Alright, just tell us what's so important."

And it was at this point, Mia said something which both amazed and terrified me. I would have never guessed such a thing. However at the same time, I should have seen it coming.

"Ethan died three years ago. Killed by Jack Baker when he attempted to rescue me from their guest house. I may have been losing consciousness, but I remember seeing it." Me and Chris just stood staring at her for a moment, Chris commented "Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?" This made Mia shriek "I know! But, I saw it happen! I'm not lying."

She paused for a moment "It was Eveline, she wanted me to be her mother, and upon learning about Ethan she wanted him to be her father. She made me send out a video to lure him in. But then Jack struck, poor Ethan didn't stand a chance."

I began to piece things together now as I stated "And she reconstructed him with the Mold, a perfect replica of his deceased body." Mia nodded "Exactly." It all made too much sense, how Ethan seemingly reattached his severed arm back in castle Dimitrescu. Clear properties of the Mold. I facepalmed and groaned to myself, how could I have been so stupid as to not notice this sooner?!

A part of me actually felt ANGRY at Mia for not saying anything. So I snapped "Why the HELL didn't you tell me something sooner?!" Mia stepped back at my sudden outburst as she stuttered "I-I didn't want you to be worried, you had a lot going on, I never found the right time."

I realized, I was perhaps a bit harsh yelling. So I calmed my tone as I said "Look, you should have just told me. I'm your brother Mia. I deserved to know this. I'm also very experienced with researching the Mold. I could have found a way to deal with this." Looking down, I said "But alas, it's too late for that now."

Chris asked "So, you think he could be still alive?" Mia nodded "Yes." I explained "The Mold is extremely durable. I wouldn't be surprised if Ethan could survive his heart being removed, at least for some time. Which means-."

I trailed off before suddenly my eyes widened as I exclaimed "He's heading after Miranda!" I slammed my fist into the wall. "Damn it. I'm heading to the ceremony site. I can't let him face her alone and I've got to rescue Rose!"

I was about to leave but Chris yelled "Y/N! Are you insane?! Not without me you're not!" I responded "Chris, your focus should be getting Mia to the extraction point." Mia pointed to my still injured leg "Y/N, you're hurt. Let Chris come with you."

I don't know why, but a wave of stubbornness came over me. "No, you need to get out of here find an extraction vehicle. Chris, I'm trusting you to keep Mia safe. I'll come back with Ethan AND Rose, I promise.

With that, I turned around and limped out of the lab. Behind me, Chris called out "Y/N!" However I ignored him. I had an objective, a goal, and I wasn't going to let anything get in the way of it now. We were close to the finish line now.

It was time for Miranda to PAY!

And that's it for the chapter, now I'm estimating there's about three for four left before my leave from this book. If the Shadow of Rose DLC is worth including or fits, I will do another segment, if not, then I'll just mark the story as finished like I'd originally planned to.
