Chapter 77: An Argument, Long Overdue

Y/N POV

"Where the hell have you been?! What happened here?!"

Looking up from that Soldat's still-burning remains, I was met with a both shocked yet angry looking Ethan. He still held that LEMI handgun in his hand as he stepped into the large room. I turned to face him with a glare before I responded.

"Me?! Trying to keep myself alive, fighting through Heisenberg's tin army! What about you?!" Ethan commented "Getting that last flask, could have used the help." I rolled my eyes and sarcastically remarked "Sorry, guess I couldn't help Chris basically abducting me. Seems things worked out in the end for you."

Ethan's eyes widened as he exclaimed "Chris is here?!" He spat "Damn it, where is he?! I'll kill him myself!" He paused for a moment, his anger subsiding and instead being replaced by sadness, I heard him quietly say, just above a whisper. "For Mia."

I remembered what Chris had told me before, about Miranda, how she'd impersonated Mia, Chris' attempt to assassinate her, all which lead up to right now. Ethan was unaware of this. I didn't know if it would work, but I still tried.

"Ethan, I found something out, from Chris." Ethan laughed coldly saying "Oh this should be good, what did he say? What great wisdom did he have for you?" I paused for a moment, just glaring at him before finally getting to speak again.

"Chris told me Miranda apparently had her eye on Rose, long before this whole incident happened. I don't fully understand what she planned to do, or how Rose could help, but what I now know is that at one point or another, Miranda took Mia's place in your home, using her power to completely alter her appearance."

Ethan's shock returned as he gasped and spoke with bewilderment. "Wait, she did what?! That would mean-." He trailed off for a moment however I knew what he meant, I nodded and said "That's right, it seems Chris' attempt was against Miranda, who merely impersonated Mia."

There was a moment of silence between us before Ethan asked "Where is Mia though? If that wasn't her, she may still be alive." I shook my head. "I don't know, and neither does Chris, trust me, I asked him."

Ethan suddenly got a glare of his own as anger filled his tone yet again and he snapped "And you believed him?! What if he's lying to you? What if it WAS Mia he killed and Miranda's an excuse to cover it up? Did you ever think of that? Of course you didn't, you're way too trusting Y/N! It's like that doll-obsessed bitch, she cries a little and just like that, you let her live regardless of what she'd done."

By this point, Ethan's ranting had become too much for me. I usually tried to be as docile as possible however by this point, I'd finally reached my minds breaking point. I had grown tired of Ethan's constant yelling, complaints and so-on.

I abruptly yelled "GIVE IT A REST ETHAN! I'M GROWING SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR CRAP!" There was another pause as Ethan just stared at me, shocked by my outburst. However I wasn't done, I had a lot to get off my chest.

"You were never meant to even get INVOLVED with this whole ordeal! Showing up in Louisiana was a mistake, you never should have been there. You should have just left us behind as Mia told you to!"

Ethan calmly said "I couldn't leave Mia or you. That's not what I meant." My eyes widened now, this time in pure anger as I lectured "And since you came here you've constantly caused us trouble time and time again. First you get yourself caught by the Dimitrescu's, ruining our chance at surprise. I can let Donna slide because you didn't know about our truce, but then you manage to alert Moreau to our presence, nearly dooming us BOTH! If you'd have kept quiet instead of having to have the last comment, we'd have managed to slip in and out with no problems whatsoever."

I facepalmed. "And it seems even here, you've managed to screw things up for the both of us. By directly antagonizing Heisenberg. Good thinking Ethan!" This must have pushed Ethan over the edge as well when he yelled.

"He wanted to use Rose as a weapon against Miranda. Regardless of whether she'd be hurt or not. I won't let that creep get his hands on my daughter. Let me guess, you agreed with him, willing to use your own niece for someone else's gain!"

I yelled back "I never agreed to his offer! That's the whole reason I wound up down here anyway! I just wanted to find a compromise, one that resulted in no further loss. It seems you single headedly messed up that chance!"

After that yelling-fest, we were both out of breath, left standing opposite one another panting in silence. Both of us took a moment, calming down slowly. I was finally the one to break the silence as I said "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap."

Ethan just looked down a bit "It's fine. I've just been too focused on finding Rose." I commented "I get it." I decided now was a good time to bring up what I'd thought about during our time hiding on Chris' orders.

"You see Ethan, sure, since Louisiana, we had to remain isolated from the world to keep the incident quiet. It's just, you had Mia, Rose, a life I've been unable to have any of that. Outside of you three, I had no one. I got stuck in my work. I guess you could say I got angry, bitter, at everything. That's why I connected with Donna, not because she cried, but because from how she described, she had no one outside of her dolls, something which I understood."

There was an awkwardness between us now. The anger had passed, but what was said had been said. Ethan looked up and this time, he was the one to break the silence, saying "Let's go, the sooner we get Rose, the sooner we get out of here."

I nodded, saying "Okay. I guess I'm with you." Just like that, me and Ethan left the room, unaware of what would come next...

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter, we're near the end of the factory segment now, after that, it's the final push to the end of the story itself! I don't know how long that'll take though. I really hope you enjoyed the chapter and as always, thank you for reading.
