Chapter 75: The Trap Room, Growing Impatience

Y/N POV

Timeskip...

I don't know how long I'd been wandering through this factory. It hadn't been a full-day, that was certain. But how many hours it had been, I'm not sure. It just seems like I'd been wandering a seemingly endless sea of corridors, doors, lifts and naturally, adversaries.

After being a guinea pig to test Heisenberg's newest Soldat and climbing up onto that walkway, I'd instantly been ambushed by two of those Haulers. Of course, handgun rounds were more than enough to dispatch them with ease.

From there, I went along the walkway to the door at the far left side of it. Not surprising at all, this just connected to another corridor where another Hauler waited. I dealt with it just like the last two and was free to keep going from there.

Not long after this, I arrived at a door on the right hand side of this corridor. I decided to open it, take a look inside. What I found was strange to say the least. A Soldat, the initial type I'd fought, with the single drill, was sat motionless on a metal chair right in the centre of the room. A multitude of wires extended from consoles, sticking into the creature's back.

I was about to just leave the room, without waking the Soldat up. However that's when I noticed a few things of interest. On a table in the room was a bottle of first-aid medicine. Given how I'd had to buy a bottle from the Duke and instantly used it. I knew this would come in handy. There was also a small stash of handgun ammo in here.

Despite my better judgement, I entered the room.  Consoling myself, after all it wasn't like this was the first Soldat I'd fought. And this was the weaker variant, not like those jet-like ones I'd fought before.

I stepped slowly, making my way around the table all the way until I reached the table with the first aid medicine and ammunition. I picked the bottle up first, placing it in my pocket and began picking the ammo when I heard the noise I'd been expecting.

The glowing core in the centre of the Soldat's lit up. It slowly began to stand up causing my head to turn in its direction. As it got to its feet, the wires attached to its back began snapping away. Soon enough the Soldat could move freely and of course, its focus landed right on me.

It wasted no time stepping closer, attempting to attack with its single drill arm. Of course by now, I was more than used to these attacks by now so I managed to duck out of the way, grabbing the next box of ammo before running out of the room, back into the corridor.

The Soldat followed close behind, the drill on its hand whirring away rapidly. It was actually being quite clever and had positioned its metallic arm over its core in an attempt to protect itself. An interesting strategy. But one I'd already encountered before now so I already knew how to work around it.

I used my rifle, looking through the scope and aimed for its head. I knew I couldn't kill it with head shots, but I could stun it. I opened fire, the bullet impacted the Soldat's forehead, causing it to stagger back.

It didn't lower its arm at this point, so I did it again. This time, it once again staggered back however now, it lowered its arm. Granting me a visual on its central core and at last, a target to properly aim for.

I lowered my arm and now targeted the core. My finger pressed the trigger relentlessly, firing about four shots in quick succession. Each one caused the Soldat to recoil and step back. I kept firing one after the other.

The final shot sounded throughout the corridor. The Soldat's core exploded and the creature instantly shut down, in a sense. Its body fell to the floor motionless while I just stood over it looking down on the cybernetic body with a frown.

I muttered "I'm beginning to grow annoyed Heisenberg. I've played with your toys, not impressed anymore." There was no response from any speakers. Heisenberg must have been keeping silent. I let out an annoyed "Tch." Sound.

After I'd fought that Soldat, I kept going. I still didn't have a clear objective. I had no idea where Ethan was and had no clue in that area so it's not like I could just look for him. I had no idea where Heisenberg was and even so, what would I do if I found him. All I could do was wander aimlessly, and if anything of interesting came up, report it to Chris.

That reminded me. I reached for the BSAA communicator and began to contact Chris. After a few seconds, I heard his voice. "Y/N, report." I began "I found something interesting you may want to know about."

I paused before explaining "It seems Heisenberg has some sort of plot going on. He's using his factory to produce a large-scale army of these cyborg-like constructs. I've encountered several already."

Chris replied to this "Tell me something I don't know." I added "I know why he's making them as well. It seems he's planning some sort of rebellion against Miranda. Using the army to-." I was cut off by the sound of an engine suddenly roaring.

It took me a moment to realize I recognized the sound. As this realization came over my, the all suddenly was smashed down!

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter. Like I said in the last chapter, I'm unaware of my writing schedule up to now. I start my new job tomorrow and don't know how this will affect my writing. It's possible I may have to write only on weekends. We'll just have to see tomorrow. Anyway I hope you liked the chapter and as always, thank you for reading.
