Chapter 29: Eveline's Grasp, Weapon Upgrade

Y/N POV

"Ethan... I hope we make it in time. Okay, bottom level."

I stated "Let's go, we'll need to find another way there, I didn't see a door leading that way on our way here." Mia nodded and we both stepped back from the monitor. Suddenly I felt a harsh grip on my forearm, causing both me and Mia to turn around.

My eyes widened when I saw Eveline stood just to the right of us, firmly grabbing both mine and Mia's arms as she glared right at us with rage before spitting "Liars." Mia yelled "Stop it Eveline!" Once again she vanished, as did her grip. I did notice however there were still marks on Mia's arm from her hold, rolling up my sleeve I found I was the exact same.

Mia commented "Fucking hallucinations. Where is she?" I muttered "Damn brat. Slipped away." The pity I'd felt for Eveline before had begun to dissolve now, leaving only the hatred, even if I understood her reasoning, it didn't instantly redeem her actions. Not that I didn't still blame myself as well. I wish I'd put my foot down when Eveline started acting up years ago.

Eveline would have to wait though, our priority for now would be finding and rescuing Ethan. It was unknown if Eveline had plans for him, she'd given up on the whole mother and uncle thing but I didn't know if the same could be the same for wanting Ethan as her father. Either way, we'd need to hurry up.

We both about to leave when Mia called out "Hey Y/N, I found these. They might be of useful." Her hands were two devices which I recognized as remote bombs that had been on the ship prior to its wreck. They'd definitely be useful now so I said "Keep hold of them. For those Molded, we'll need any advantage we can get."

With Mia keeping the bombs, we were finally able to actually leave the control room and resumed our exploration of the ship, this time with a new objective. Heading out onto a corridor, we discovered we were currently on the fourth floor.

We found a door marked 'Captain's Cabin'. Inside was in total disarray, we did however manage to find three things of note in here. First off, we found a map of the entire ship that would definitely come in handy, second was a lug wrench and like I'd said before, one thing I'd learned from this experience was that ANYTHING could have a purpose.

Finally was a cabinet, inside of which was a P19 Machine gun, the same sort I'd been using when this ship crashed. Unfortunately, the cabinet was locked and required a key. I turned to Mia and explained "We should come back for that, it could definitely tip the tides in our favour." She just nodded in understanding.

After that we left the captains cabin and headed back towards the elevator shaft, we both had to pry the door open again and dropped down onto the lift. We could exit onto the third floor again however instead we noticed a hatch heading inside the lift itself.

Using the Lug wrench we found earlier, we were able to open up the hatch and drop into the lift properly. The lift itself was out of order. A note on the wall described what had happened.

'Louis

The cable is completely fried. We had a replacement but we had to use it to fix something in the 3F sick bay. You're gonna have to go ask Dr Waddell for it.

I'm needed down in the No. 2 Engine Room but I can't get down there unless we get this thing working.

Dwayne'

It was clear now what we'd need to find, Mia commented "So, we need a fuse and a cord to fix the elevator?" I nodded before replying "Looks that way." Turning to the door we were given two choices to climb onto the second floor or drop down onto the first again. We chose the second floor. This area was familiar, it was the same level where I'd found Alan and learned about what had happened. We began investigating, briefly going back into the room where this whole ordeal started.

During our search of this level we came away with a lot of machine gun ammo which would be useful once we had that key as well as some first-aid meds. We arrived in a room with six paintings three on either side, and each side mirrored the other.

Inspecting the room, it was revealed that this was all some kind of puzzle, we needed to rotate the paintings on the left with those on the right and doing so caused a safe at the far-end of the room to open up, revealing three corrosive bottles lined up, all three of which we took.

After that we explored until there was one door left locked and with Mold growing on it. Nothing some corrosive didn't fix. Holding the bottle to the lock, there was a familiar hiss and just like that the door swung open, revealing a bunkroom, much like the rest of the ship, it was in complete disarray.

However regardless of its state, on a table directly ahead of us I noticed something. A key, this in itself was interesting however when I picked it up and looked at the small label which read 'Captain's Cabin Locker'.

I turned to Mia, held the key up and said "I think we've got our key for that locker in the Captain's cabin. I'll go get that machine gun, you continue your search down here." Mia nodded and replied "Okay, don't take long."

Reaching around, I said "By the way, if I'm getting the machine gun, I think I should give you this." I held out my MPM Handgun along with the bullets for it. Mia took them off me and wished me "Good luck." To that I replied "Same to you."

With that I returned to the lift, I climbed out of the hatch to the third floor and then went up the ladder which allowed me to get to the fourth floor once again. Kind of funny really, I'd literally just gone a complete 180 degrees on myself, but hopefully, it would be worth it.

Returning to the captain's cabin, I couldn't help but grin at the sight of the cabinet, I reached for the key and inserted it into the lock. Giving it a light twist, there was a click and the door swung open presenting the reward within.

There were a few of those remote bombs, Mia would make better use of them than me. What I really wanted was the machine gun. Reaching out, I picked the weapon up and stared at it for a moment before quickly turning my attention back to the door.

I didn't have time to waste, hopefully with the machine gun, I'd made things slightly easier, but now, we'd need to find that fuse and cord to fix the lift. Then and ONLY then, would we hopefully be able to reach Ethan...

Author's Note: And that's it for this chapter, I really hope you enjoyed it, the next one will basically follow up from this after that there will be a bit of a skip until Y/N and Mia are found by the BSAA. I hope you like that as well and as always, thank you for reading.
