Act 23

B Y U N   B A E K H Y U N

Kim Taeyeon is preparing suits for tomorrow's dinner with the Oh family. I glared at the pieces of clothing, dreading every second I would have to spend under their judging stares. When she caught my look, Taeyeon grinned as she shakes her head.

"I heard he came to visit you at the cafe." she threw me a playful look and I stood up from my couch, making my towards the balcony. It's already 8pm in the evening and a wave of fresh air washed through my face when I pushed the sliding doors open. I leaned against the frame and crossed my arms over my chest in annoyance.

I let out a huff. "How did you know?"

Taeyeon laughed. "The moment he returned after the cafe event, he started blabbering everything to me cause I'm the only one at home." she said between giggles. "He told me how he hated the way you treated him and how annoying and ugly Park Chanyeol is." with that, I sharply turned my head to her direction.

"He really said that?" I hissed. "How could he be so childish?"

Her fingers traced a navy blue suit and I grimaced at the thought of wearing it. "He is  a child, Baekhyun." Taeyeon sighed. "Really. What did you expect?"

"And they want me to marry a 5-year old?" I said and I know I sound frustrated. And I am frustrated. It seems like my parents and everyone in our family had totally forgotten that I am human, too, and I have wants and needs as a person. One of that is my freedom and self-respect; things they plan to take away from me.

Taeyeon waved me off with her hand. "Oh hush." she rolled her eyes. "You have your Park Chanyeol now, don't you? Someone who could actually protect you the moment your family knew you're faking the amnesia." Taeyeon eyes me seriously and the night I told her the truth about my memory came flashing back to my mind. She broke down, begging for my forgiveness though she doesn't have to. Taeyeon doesn't have anything to be sorry for.

I frowned. "Sehun didn't tell them what happened in the cafe?" I was suddenly nervous and my fingers clutched the hem of my shirt.

"I was actually expecting he'll do that." Taeyeon said as she heaved a sigh. "But he said, 'They shouldn't know anything about this, okay? I would sound pathetic and weak!'. And I agreed immediately!" then she laughed, shaking her head. "Too proud. Too proud, I tell you."

I unconsciously wiped an invisible sweat on my forehead. "That was close." I breathed, sighing again.
Though I know now that Sehun won't say anything, I still need to be prepared for what might happen. I must tell Chanyeol to be more careful, more mindful about the people around him. I don't want him ending up the victim again. Not anymore.

"Close." Taeyeon agreed as she finally settled five pair of suits on my bed. There's black, dark blue, grey, white and beige. I groaned and Taeyeon put her hand on her hip, raising a brow at me. "Anything you'd like?"

I turned my back at her, facing the forest beyond my balcony. "Drop everything." I breathed, glaring at the night. "Curse that dinner."

My parents are out for a trip and the house is as quite as it could get. No small parties, not meetings, no guards patrolling the hallways. But most importantly, no people who would constantly tell me the 'supposed-to's. For the first time in a few months, I could actually relax and breathe normally.

I closed the book I am reading just in time when a pebble hit my chest. "Ouch!" I yelped, glaring around the small balcony. Just when I'm about to throw a fuss, another pebble came flying from down below and I recognized a muffled chuckle.

"Oh my..." I sped to the railings, staring a few feet below my floor. "...god."

"You got a few minutes for me?" Chanyeol asked, grinning. He has another pebble at hand but he threw it back the moment he saw me. From my point of view, I could tell he's sweating. His face is flushed and tired like he ran his way to here.

I inhaled a lungful of air. "Are you for real?" I shake my head but can't help the small smile that is slowly spreading on my face. No matter how ridiculous this might seem, having these secret meetings with Chanyeol makes my heart flutter in a very pleasant way.

Chanyeol spreads out his arms in the air. "What do you think?" he smirked. He's obviously catching his breath. Yes, he's tired. Really tired I think.

I can't help but giggle this time. "Wait up." I called before running back to my room and retrieving the old rope he used the very first night he came sneaking. I tightly tied the rope around the railings, pushing the longer end down until it reaches Chanyeol's feet. He grabbed unto it and not surprisingly, he pulled himself up my balcony in a matter of seconds.

"Outstanding." I teased as I pulled the rope back up. Chanyeol helped me untie it and we both walked back to my room after closing the sliding door shut tightly.

The moment the cold air of my room hit us, Chanyeol dropped to my bed panting as he closes his eyes. I crossed my arms over my chest as I looked down at him sternly. "So, what are you up to now?" I asked.

Chanyeol opened one of his eyes to meet my gaze. "Let's make homework together." he grinned before sitting up and pulling his shirt off. He threw it to the floor and when he started to unbuckle his jeans, I can do nothing but stop him abruptly.

"What are you doing?!" I hissed as I frantically reached for his hands. "You said homework, right?!"

His hands grabbed mine and he's suddenly laughing. "Baek, baby, I am sweating." he smiled. "Do you want me catching cold?" he cocked his head to one side as he threw me one of his playful looks. With that, I slowly retrieved my hand from his touch but before I could pull free from his grip, Chanyeol offered me, "Do you want to shower together?"

I raised a brow. "Are you crazy?!"

"Nope."
he pouted. "I'm insanely sane, Baekhyun."

I shook my head. "We can't shower together, Yeol." I said seriously. "You know that," he gave me a completely innocent face. "Right?"

Chanyeol heaved a sigh. "We're both guys." he muttered. "I can't see anything wrong with that. Besides, you shower at the school's shower room with all the strangers around. And you can't shower with your own fiance? Where's the just in that?" He gave me a very fake sad face and I want to punch that off his face.

"That's the point." I hissed. "You're my fiance. That is definitely why I can't shower with you!"

The topic is getting out of hand but Chanyeol has obviously NO plans on letting me off the hook. He started chewing on the insides of his cheek, thinking really hard. He held unto my hands tightly, tugging just very gently on them.

"No sex, I swear." Chanyeol promised and his eyes danced with a certain playfulness in them. He ran his thumb on the top of my palm and I know I'm completely blushing in front of him right now. This is crazy.

I cleared my throat as well as my thoughts. "You're such a creep." I breathed, shaking my head.

He's starting to smile. "No kissing, promise."

I can't help but glare at him. "No touching."

"Uhm, that would be such a waste but... okay. No touching waist down."

I bit my lip thoughtfully and Chanyeol's eyes dropped to them. He swallowed.

"Baek, how about two or three kisses. Please?" he pouted.

I giggled, shaking my head in amusement. "Two would be alright."
