13. The Stupid Boy Band

(POV) Chase

I let my right foot tap against the floor in anticipation as we waited for some kind of signal that the two were leaving. I still can't understand how Bree believed Marcus... Pretty much from the start. It took me another half hour of convincing, and the only reason I gave in, was because of Bree. If she hadn't trusted him, all the more reason to not get ourselves into this. But we're too far from 'too late' to back out now.

It wasn't just this Marcus thing that had me so antsy, though. Adam told me too, about my brothers that I left behind. I feel slightly bad. I felt bad that I was the one picked to become the bionic hero. That I may have turned out better than the others. Actually, I did turn out better than one of them.

I looked up the information on my real brothers from my chip when we returned to the apartment yesterday. My three brothers names are Clark, Cam, and Chester Henderson. They all still live in California at the orphanage that I was adopted at. It was all fine until I came upon a very vital piece of information. The worst part about it is, Chester is sick. He's been in a coma for the past seven months because he was in a car accident. He's exactly eleven months older than me. Cam is the next oldest, being two years older than me. Then, Clark is four years older. I can't believe no one told me where I had come from. I had to have Adam, tell me the truth. That never happens.

"Chase? Are you okay?" Bree whispered as she took a seat next to me on the couch. I nodded, breathing out slowly as she reached over and took my hand in hers. I could never get used to this. It was too great to.

"I'm fine. Just, not sure about tonight. I guess-" I left off as I heard something crash against the wall separating us from Marcus and Douglas. Just another thing I hadn't known about. Marcus allowing Douglas to roam free... just for revenge... in the apartment right next to ours.

"God, Marcus! Don't break yourself on the wall! Better yet, don't break the wall!" Douglas yelled as he flung the door in their apartment open. I listened in carefully as I waited for them to exit the apartment. That had been the plan, anyways. For Marcus to send us the signal, the crash, before leaving for the concert.

"Sorry, Douglas." Marcus mumbled as the two walked out into the hallway. Marcus turned on his GPS as they began to walk out of the building. We had connected all four of our chips in case anything happened tonight. If one of us got hurt, the others would be alerted. It had I be this way. All for one, and one for all. We were in this together.

"Too late to back out now. Let's get going." I ordered as I stood up up from the couch. Bree sighed as Adam rubbed his hands together, Adam walking out into the hallway with Bree and I following. I stopped and turned as Bree pulled me back.

"I love you." She whispered, a leading tone to her voice. I nodded, a smile coming to my face at those words. I took an extra step towards her and let my face stop inches from hers.

"I love you more." I whispered against her lips as I leaned in and closed the gap between us. We had been officially dating for forty-eight hours. The best forty-eight hours of my life. Bree smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Okay, you two need to stop, that, right now." Adam teased as he waltzed back into the apartment. Bree reluctantly pulled away from me, leaving her arms securely around my neck before Adam grabbed onto my shirt and pulled me out into the hallway. Bree laughed and shut the door behind us.

"Grab on." She mumbled with a smile before taking my hand. I smiled as Adam wrapped his hand around her upper arm, Bree then racing us to the backstage of the concert. I sighed as we stood back slightly. If anyone caught us, we would be dead. We didn't even have tickets, let alone backstage passes.

"I'll get us some passes." Bree whispered before she was off once more. I nodded as she appeared back at out sides, handing a pass to Adam and placing mine over my head. I laughed back as I watched Adam hold the backstage pass in front of his face, examining the picture placed on top.

"I'm going to turn on our GPS signals." I whispered. Bree sighed and nodded, obviously not looking forward to the aftermath. We were all pretty sure that the FBI wasn't after us, they would have found us by now. We were also positive about the fact that Perry had given up her dream of telling the world about the first three bionics. But now, Mr. Davenport would be able to find us. Which, I was personally not looking forward to. Can't wait for that lecture.

"Do it." Bree whispered reassuringly before she began to set her sights ahead of us. I nodded and raised my right hand to my temple, activating all three of our GPS signals.

"Marcus and Douglas are over there." Adam whispered as he pointed towards the large crowd where the band was now signing audigraphs. I glanced over to see Douglas had turned his back to them before they began to sign his t-shirt. I had never actually seen the band before. Bree smiled happily as she watched.

"You like One Direction?" I teased as I grabbed into her hand. She rolled her eyes he shook her head.

"I don't. But I think it's funny that Douglas does." Bree replied with a smirk as she motioned back to her supposed father. Marcus caught our sights, a sly smile taking over his face as he held up five fingers. I nodded, knowing we would start the plan the second this... Band, if that's what they're called, goes on stage. That was part two of the signal. The most vital, actually. The first part was to hit the wall as hard as possible before he left. Now, the five fingers meant five minutes till show time. But not only this stupid boy band's showtime, our show time.

We stood in silence, leaning back against the temporary walls of the stage as we waited for Douglas to turn and see us. He was way too into this whole, One Direction, thing. He's been talking to them for like five minutes.

"I'll be right back." Marcus whispered to Douglas. Our creator waved his hand Marcus' way before the boy rolled his eyes and walked over to us.

"What's up?" Bree teased, a laugh escaping her lips right afterwards. Marcus rolled his eyes as Adam patted him on the back reassuringly.

"I'm sorry, our idiot creator is over there fan-girling over this stupid boy band." Marcus whispered sarcastically as we each looked over to Douglas. I rolled my eyes. I couldn't believe he was Bree's father. Bree was ten times smarter than him. And then there was me. But Adam and Davenport... Now that made sense.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm just not into all of this. Maybe it's because I lived in a basement for sixteen years, but still." Bree agreed, a light smile taking over her face as Marcus nodded.

"Guys." Adam warned. I rolled my eyes.

"What?" I asked, sounding slightly annoyed. There couldn't be anything wrong. We were at a concert for five year old girls so we could kill Douglas. What was wrong about that?

"Guys." Adam tried once more.

"What!" Bree groaned and threw her head back.

"Guys!"

"What!" Marcus, Bree and I said in union. Adam pointed behind me. I sighed and spun around, seeing Douglas standing right behind me. I jumped back, Bree grasping my shoulders as I did so. She stood soundly behind me while Adam stood tall behind her. Marcus came to my side, pushing me slightly as he walked over to Douglas.

"I've got them, Douglas." Marcus said soundly.

"I tried to tell you." Adam whispered, sounding so sure of himself.

"When I asked you what was wrong, you wouldn't tell me!" I snapped. I knew this had been too good to be true. Douglas and Marcus have been working together this whole time. I shouldn't have let Bree convince me that this was okay. Marcus has been the bad guy this whole time.

"Shall we take this somewhere else?" Marcus asked as he rested his hand on Douglas' shoulder. I breathed a sigh of relief at the third signal. I never doubted the kid for a second. Bree rolled her eyes.

"Whatever." She hissed before clasping onto my hand and Adam's. Douglas smiled happily as the five of us walked out the back door.

"So, where we headed?" Douglas asked excitedly as he rubbed his hands together. Marcus rolled his eyes and gripped his arm forcefully, speeding away soon after.

"Your doom." I whispered to Bree before we sped off along with Marcus and Douglas to the meeting spot. This was it. This was where it was all about to go down. We raced until we hit the tree line of the woods, this was meant to be the first stop.

"Okay, Douglas. What do you have to say for yourself." Bree started as we stopped. Marcus stood straight behind the man with his arms crossed. Adam walked over to his right side while I took his left. His daughter however, stood right in front of him. He couldn't go anywhere now.

"I don't get it." Douglas defended as he looked around before seeing he was caged in by the only four bionics in the world.

"I want an explanation. You're my dad, Mr. Davenport is Adam's, Chase was adopted, all while you made Marcus for your own joy. Why did you need so many of us?" Bree snapped. She strolled forward before she was two feet away from him. He smiled nervously as he glanced around from one of us to the other.

"Okay! Okay. Donny doesn't know that I know all about before, though!" He yelled suddenly. I frowned.

"Before what?"

"He erased all of your memories from before we gave you bionics and he thought he got rid of mine as well. Little did he know, I've been faking this whole time. To his knowledge, he thinks that all I remember is putting the chips in you guys. He thinks he's the only one with the information of your origins." Douglas started.

"So why did you need three?" I asked. "Why couldn't you just use Adam and Bree? Not that I'm complaining."

"I needed three, because I had already put their chips in. I had made a better chip and I wanted to see if it would work in you. Plus, there are three main abilities, anyways. Now, it's you three's turn. How did you find out!" Douglas countered as he pointed between us. I held up my hands in defense while Bree motioned to Adam.

"He discovered a new ability. He's been remembering stuff all night." Bree brushed it off as if it was nothing. Douglas' eyes widened as he watched us closely.

"So? Is this it? Cause I have the trident app remote all ready and-" He was cut off by Adam leaping forward and grabbing it, crushing it in his hand before dropping the pieces to the ground. "Hey!" Adam shrugged before returning to his place.

"You three are going to pay for that." Marcus said harshly, sending a wink our way before grabbing Douglas' arm once more. "Let's finish them." Douglas nodded, a sly smile taking him over before he pulled out a ray gun.

"You know what they say. It was nice knowing you." Douglas started before pointing the ray gun my way. I held up my hands in defense as he clicked the trigger.
