Chapter 5-Ice Cold Heart

Chapter 5: No going back

Douglas' POV

I was in that block of ice for two weeks. It was complete torture. It was so cold, and of course frost bite traveled throughout my body. I could feel myself deteriorating mentally, and physically. I couldn't sleep, because I couldn't close my eyes I didn't have anything to eat, and nothing to drink. You think I could ponder about my next plan to destroy Donny, but I couldn't even think of the difference between warm and cold cereal* for god sakes! I'm lucky I even survived throughout those two dreadful weeks. I lived off of the hope that someone would get me. I had my connections of course, so maybe they would help me get out of this frozen prison. This couple of scientists would walk by me at the same time everyday to make sure I was "behaving" even though I couldn't do anything for myself. They always looked at me with the same dull expression, like it was more of a chore than a duty to

"protect the community of mission creek from nutty professor." In my opinion I think I'm a joy to be around. Even if I am frozen in a block of ice. After about a week I think I finally came to a horrible realization. What would it matter if someone got me out of this observatory? I would still be stuck in this cube shaped iceberg. It's not like anyone on my side is bionic and can unfreeze me in milliseconds. Well, there was Marcus, but he's long gone. Besides I don't think he'd have the strength to come and save me even if he was still alive. He was always weak in that sense. Never being able to get a job done. Just ask that annoying kid Leo. That's when I lost consciousness. I woke up to see a black silhouette. It couldn't be who I thought it was though right? I mean he was dead, or so I thought he was.

"Marcus?"

Douglas' POV

After a week of recovery, I finally came to. Marcus helped me get back to health in me and Donny's old apartment in LA. He didn't say much to me other than

"Do you want more soup?", and I would always nod back in reply. Until I could stand for myself. He seemed angry at me. Usually he would have tried to make awkward conversation with me, to make me feel better. However most of the time he just glared, and tried to help me. Which was completely unlike Marcus, because usually I would have to force him to help me. The thing that confused me most though, was why he continued to wear the mask and gloves. That eventually stopped when he asked me one day if I had a sewing kit somewhere. Of course I said I did, and then he left me. I weakly got up to use the bathroom, but stopped dead in my tracks. Marcus was in there with the door cracked open. His mask and gloves were off to reveal a face that was half way torn off with the skin still hanging, and robot hands that didn't have any skin to spare. He saw me in the mirror's reflection as he sewed his face, and his eyes began to turn bright green with anger. No. It wasn't anger. It was hate pure, deep hate. I turned quickly on my heel, and quickly walked away. Trying to fill a void I said

"I can hold it", but that only made it worse. When he came out, the mask was gone. There was a big scar where he had to stitch up half his face. It ran from the bottom of his left jaw, and traveled all the way up to meet his left iris. The only things that remained on his body from the first time I saw him was the gloves, and the jacket. After that he never looked at me again. He would still help me, but after what I saw he could never look face to face with me. He would just focus his stare towards the ground. This only bugged me a little, but the thing that bugged me most was he stopped calling me dad. He only called me by Douglas now. He was mad. Well not mad, but furious with me. Fortunately though he put his feelings aside, and got me the technology I needed to take down Davenport Industries. He came in with his hood on, with his arms full of materials such as computers with hacking ability, and more web cams. I walked up to him trying to lighten the mood.

"M-dog! Thanks for getting those supplies for me." He looked at the floor with his infamous eyebrow stare.

"You're welcome?" He put the supplies down on the table, and began to walk away. I raced toward him, and put my hand on his shoulder. That's when he lost it. He grabbed my forearm, turned around, and yanked me into a sucker-punch to the nose. I fell to the ground cradling my bloody broken nose.

"Marcus?! What was that for?!" He looked at me with pure hate. He finally looked at me dead in the eye, and said "Never touch me!" I got up and began to explain.

"Listen, we need to talk. Sit down now!" He rolled his eyes as he sat.

"What do we need to talk about? Obviously there's nothing." he glared at the ground I sighed drearily

"Well, since I realize that you know you're not human, I feel that I should tell you the truth." He looked at the floor

"Oh wow I didn't think you knew that I knew. I mean its not like you barged into the bathroom while I was sewing my face back together." He said with hurtful sarcasm. I shook it off, and continued what I was going to say.

"Anyways I thought I should tell you the truth. You're not a bionic human..." I sighed, and before he could protest that he knew I spit it out.

"... You're an android Marcus." His eyes became wide with realization. "... So that means that you don't have much longer to live. You'll eventually burn out." He got up dizzily. He looked extremely pale.

"What you're saying is that I was just a replacement for them." I looked at him even though he wasn't at me. I laughed a little

"Well when you put it that way, yeah I guess so." He shook his head as I continued

"Listen, we had a good run, but you're going to die soon, and I need someone else bionic. Three of them to be exact." He looked towards the desk where he set everything.

"I need to install those cameras." he said hurried. He used his super speed to run out of the apartment. That went badly.

Eventually he came back, but now he didn't even talk to me anymore. He just took orders from me. It was nice that he was excepting his fate now instead of on his death bed. I was finally able to hack into Donny's bank account, but more importantly into Davenport Industries. Now his money, and company were mine. I bought colored contacts, and hair dye with his credit card. Maxing it out. With Marcus' help we got the cameras hooked up, and that's when I found out about the kids running away from the FBI. It was finally time to get back at Donny. I pulled up the security camera footage

"I can't even use my cyber desk! Who is doing this to me?" Donny said frustrated. I laughed maniacally, and turned it off. I popped onto all of his screens.

"Hello family. I just wanted to let you know it was me who took all of your money." I said into the camera.

"Yeah, Leo already figured that out." My brother said simply. I frowned, and continued.

"Well, either way. It was me, and I'm looking toward to spending a lot of time with my three, lovely kids!" I yelled in triumph. Donny shook his head.

"You are not going to get to Adam, Bree, and Chase." He hissed. I laughed at how ridiculous he was. Being all sentimental. I hated that.

"Not if I get to them first. Which I will. How are you going to find them without your lab?" I asked as I held up the trigger that would blow up their into the next century. Donny's eyes grew wide at the realization of what I was about to do. I laughed evilly as I pressed the trigger, and flashed off. Now I had one more job. Capture those kids.
