Chapter 13 - The Stupid Boy Band

Marcus' POV

It was silent on our side of the wall, but on the other side all I could hear was tapping; nervous tapping. I knew that they were all hesitant about going through with the plan, but it was now or never; they knew that. I walked out of my room to see who was tapping; with my bionic hearing the sound was driving me as insane as Douglas is. I went near the wall to look through the hole, but ultimately failed. I slipped on something and fell against the wall. I lifted my foot to reveal that I slipped on a Harry Styles doll. How did I not know of his sick obsession with this stupid boy band before? All of a sudden, it started singing.

"What the holy hell?" I muttered to myself. Before it could get to the next verse of the song, I did a quick scan to show the wires that connected to its voice box, and decided instead to just rip off its head to make it shut up. Throughout my life, I've learned that this is the most effective way to destroy an enemy. Douglas came out of his room, even more grouchy than usual. I hid the doll in a nearby house plant, and tried to look as idiotically innocent as I could. I was also trying to hold in my laughter; he looked ridiculous.

"God, Marcus! Don't break yourself on the wall! Better yet, don't break the wall!" Douglas yelled as he flung the door open. I followed loosely behind trying to be aloof as I sent my signal.

"Sorry, Douglas." I mumbled trying to act casual as we went out into the hallway. I turned on my GPS as we exited the building. We had connected all four of our chips just in case, but in my opinion I didn't think execution would be hard. It was four bionic superhuman people versus a psychopath scientist. Actually, it might be harder than I thought.

"Who needs a car when you have a bionic pack mule to carry you around? Ha ha ha." I rolled my eyes as he hopped on my back.

"Hang on." It was weird to think this was going to be the last time this nut case. That was when I went off.
************************************************

In a quick flash we were at the concert. Douglas looked like a kid in a candy store, but the candy was One Direction. Did I just say that? Bree was right behind us; I could hear her. We were ushered backstage quickly by security as we flashed our backstage passes, which, by the way were stolen from two thirteen year old Tweens. Again, not my fault. I looked around the room, trying to find where they were. Their only job was to send their GPS signal to Davenport and hall ass backstage; couldn't be too hard. Through the large sea of people I spotted Adam who was whispering to the others. I gave them a sly smile and held up five fingers. Chase gave me a serious nod, and I turned back around, trying to act natural. Five minutes and it was time. Time for part two. I waited like the others did as Douglas got the band's autographs pathetically. Harry kept staring at me like he knew I had viciously murdered his stupid doll just a few minutes ago.

"Hi." Why did he just talk to me? I reeled my head to glare at him.

"What." He laughed; idiot.

"I said-" I cut him off.

"That wasn't a question, Styles." Another one came up to me, Louis. Douglas literally gave me a three hour lecture on everything. Now not only did I know their full names, but I knew what their favorite colors were and what they look for in a girl. Oh god. Louis started analyzing me.

"You're a Swifty aren't you?" I rolled my eyes, and looked at Douglas for a quick escape. If I hit one of them I'd get kicked out. Damn it.

"I'll be right back." I whispered to Douglas. He just waved his hand at me, and laughed at their stupid joke. I walked over to them in a hurry.

"What's up?" Bree teased, a laugh escaping her lips right afterwards. I rolled my eyes as Adam patted me on the back reassuringly.

"I'm sorry, our idiot creator is over there fan-girling over this stupid boy band." I whispered sarcastically as we each looked over to Douglas. I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm just not into all of this. Maybe it's because I lived in a basement for sixteen years, but still." Bree agreed, a grin taking over her face as I nodded. Looks like she didn't take after her daddy.

"Guys." Adam warned. I rolled my eyes.

"What?" Bree asked for me, sounding slightly annoyed. There couldn't be anything wrong. We were at a concert for five year old girls so we could kill Douglas. What was wrong about that?

"Guys." Adam tried once more.

"What!" Bree groaned and threw her head back.

"Guys!"

"What!" Chase, Bree and I said in union. Adam pointed behind us. Chase sighed and spun around, coming face to face with Douglas. Shit. He jumped back, Bree grasping his shoulders. She stood soundly behind him while Adam stood tall behind her. I came to his side, pushing him to face good ole Dougy.

"I've got them, Douglas." I said as soundly as I could.

"I tried to tell you." Adam whispered, sounding confident.

"When I asked you what was wrong, you wouldn't tell me!" Chase bickered in a panic, thinking I turned on them already. Looks like I was a better actor than I thought.

"Shall we take this somewhere else?" I asked as I rested my hand on Douglas' shoulder. Chase breathed a sigh of relief at my third signal. For the second smartest guy in the world, he couldn't take a hint.

"Whatever." Bree hissed before clasping onto my hand and Adam's. Douglas smiled happily as the five of us walked out the back door.

"So, where we headed?" Douglas asked excitedly as he rubbed his hands together. I rolled my eyes at his cliché evilness, and gripped his arm forcefully, speeding away soon after. 'You're demise!' I thought stupidly as I set off. We all stopped quickly in the woods. It was time.

"Okay, Douglas. What do you have to say for yourself." Bree started as we stopped. I stood straight behind him with my arms crossed over my chest. Adam walked over to my right side while Chase took my left. Bree stood her ground in front of him. We had him surrounded. Douglas looked around nervously.

"I don't get it." He tried to defend as he looked for a getaway, like he did his whole life.

"I want an explanation. You're my dad, Mr. Davenport is Adam's, Chase was adopted, all while you made Marcus for your own joy. Why did you need so many of us?" Bree snapped. She strolled forward before she was two feet away from him. He smiled nervously as he glanced around from one of us to the other.

"Okay! Okay. Donny doesn't know that I know all about before, though!" He yelled suddenly. She frowned.

"Before what?"

"He erased all of your memories from before we gave you bionics and he thought he got rid of mine as well. Little did he know, I've been faking this whole time. To his knowledge, he thinks that all I remember is putting the chips in you guys. He thinks he's the only one with the information of your origins." Douglas started. Yeah right.

"So why did you need three?" Chase asked. "Why couldn't you just use Adam and Bree? Not that I'm complaining."

"I needed three, because I had already put their chips in. I had made a better chip and I wanted to see if it would work in you. Plus, there are three main abilities, anyways. Now, it's you three's turn. How did you find out!" Douglas yelled as he pointed between them. Chase held up his hands in defense while Bree motioned to Adam. I just rolled my eyes and said nothing.

"He discovered a new ability. He's been remembering stuff all night." Bree brushed it off as if it was nothing. Douglas' eyes widened as he watched them closely.

"So? Is this it? Cause I have the trident app remote all ready and-" He was cut off by Adam leaping forward and grabbing it, crushing it in his hand before dropping the pieces to the ground. "Hey!" Adam shrugged before returning to his place. Well now we had nothing to worry about.

"You three are going to pay for that." I said harshly, sending a wink their way before grabbing Douglas' arm once more.

"Let's finish them." Douglas nodded, a sly smile taking him over before he pulled out a ray gun. Wait, how did he get that? I started to panic.

"You know what they say. It was nice knowing you." Douglas started before pointing the ray gun Chase's way. He held up his hands in defense as Douglas clicked the trigger.
