"Who exactly are you?! How did you know who we are?!",Fred yelled. He was puzzled and shocked.
The man just ignored Fred's inquiries, yet he continued to speak but in a random fashion.
He uttered, still with a muffled, husky and calm tone, "The lots of us shall be rewarded by our deeds or misdeeds. Everything we do here shall echo through eternity. Death is not the end, but rather the beginning of either a glorious Throne, or a grimful Hades.", he paused and then continued with so much bitterness on his tone, "Don't blame yourself over the death of your daughter Detective Allen Mills. At the end of the day, I'll show you who's to blame and who's to spare. But it'll all be UP TO YOU."
Al was silenced. He was shocked upon hearing the man's parlance about his daughter. Al closed his eyes, breathed deep, and again, there's these flashes of a young, little blonde girl with marble blue eyes. She's smiling towards Al while waving goobye.
Al's hands began to shake. His heart began to palpitate. Hot flashes. Cold sweat. Shortness of breath. From his left side-pocket he pulled another prescription bottle of Xanax, took one pill and swallowed it.
Al replied nothing. His face turned blank.
Dr. Kelly noticed the silence and bitterness on the face of the detective. So he patted her hand on the Al's right shoulder. She uttered in an almost whispery voice, "Just breathe... Al. Breathe.."
Fred yelled furiously, "You fuckin' psycho! Let me just warn you okay... we'll gonna find you and we'll never stop until we fuckin bring you into the death row! Okay?! I know you're gonna understand..", Fred boastfully uttered.
The man on the phone interrupted Fred. He's still composed, relaxed and his tone is so mild and muffled. It makes him creepier and distracting, added with the clarity of what he's implying or saying. He replied with a creepy, muffled, silent and husky voice, "A man once said, children are educated by what grown-ups ACT or DO, and not by his TALK. Pride is creeping inside your soul and that's making you boastful, arrogant and impulsive, Detective Fred."
"Fuck you! Reveal yourself! You coward psycho! Let's finish it today... one on one.. I ain't afraid of you, you son of a bitch!"
The man on the phone silently chuckled and then replied with a composed, relaxed and husky, soft tone, "I'm sorry if I had offended thee. And I apologize that I can't accept your invitation today... BUT I WILL... I promise... I WILL... SOON YOU SHALL SEE ME FACE TO FACE. And I hope that when that time come, and I am certain that it will come, I hope you WOULDN'T REGRET it. Because we are all part of the LINKS, and one of us.. YOU, Detective AL, and ME - one of us is the MISSING LINK.", then he hanged the phone.
Fred continued to curse at the wind.
Al was silenced and puzzled.
Kelly was worried about Al's blankness.
Fred was still pissed off, but he continued to investigate and then put his attention on the black bag-pack lying on the floor.
Fred opened and he saw David Freud and Lisa Colbert's personal belongings, including their clothes, cellular phones, wallets, IDs, and a white t-shirt and a denim pants that're both marred with blood.
But what caught Detective Fred's attention was there's a manila envelope containing something, that has a note on it - "For Detective Allen Mills".
Fred gave the envelope to Al who's still with a blank face.
Al didn't utter anything. He opened the envelope and there were black and white pictures of both Lisa Colbert and David Freud, hanging out together. The date that's printed below every single photo, indicates that the suspect surveyed and tracked both Lisa and David for almost half a month, before he eventually butchered his victims.
Al was right when he said that it's preplanned.
The photos spoke for itself, that the suspect tracked Lisa and David, for the purpose of killing them - just to keep the dice rolling for HIS GAME. "The Missing Link"
Kelly uttered, "We would take over this crime scene too. And I'll just give you the updates when the forensic examination are all done. For the meantime, Fred... Al.... you better give yourself a break, while we are still doing the FORENSICS."
Al turned his back, walked towards the door and with blank face and a serious tone, "Kelly, trace the DNA of the blood that was used to scribble those words on that bed.", he paused for a second, "Fred, I'll just call you later... I'll just check the house and check Cindy if she's just okay."
Al went out and drove straight towards his lovely abode.
