Chapter 6

I'm chosen to take first gaurd when we stop for the night. I'm glad, there has been orcs here recently, I can tell. The very scent of the area smells like them. Sure enough, after almost every one is bedded down and my watch is almost over, I hear the familiar sound of shrieking orcs. "What was that??" Bilbo asks, just as uncle Thorin comes take my place.
"Orcs." My Ada says. Bilbo's eyes widen. He then proceeds to scare the living daylights out of him by talking about all the blood And Gore that goes along with orc attacks. Then, they laugh, LAUGH. I whip my head around and stare at them.
"ADA!!!" I yell, he looks up startled. "Your own wife was killed by orcs and your children were kidnapped and here you are laughing about it!"
"You think orcs and blood is funny??!" I hear uncle Thorin ask. "Me meant nothing of it my father says, ducking his head in shame.
"You know nothing of the world." Uncle Thorin says, sighing,

"I was just joking Lera, sit down."

"I can't believe you."  I say, grabbing my sword and walking around. I really should calm down but I just can't. I climb up the edge of the cliff and sit. I finally can't hold it back anymore and let out a sob. I miss my Naneth so much. I hug my self and let. it. all. out.

I finally calm down after a while. I can hear Balin talking to the rest of the company I should really get back. I get up, but freeze when I hear a noise. I whip around, expecting an orc, but seeing a deer instead. I smile a little. This will make an excellent supper. I raise the small bow I usually have on my back and aim. I shoot the deer before it realizes I'm here. After death claims it, I walk over and pick it up. It's not to big, so I throw it over my shoulders and tie it's legs together. I climb down carefully and walk back. All falls silent when I walk up, causing me to wonder what Balin told them. I unhook the deer's legs and drop it in front of Uncle Thorin. He stares at it for a second before looking up at me. He smirks at me and I smile back. I still don't want to face my father so I wander away again, hoping I'll be over it by the time I come back. I've been walking for about twenty minutes when I decide to go back. I pick a red  flower, the kind that my mother loved so much and clutch it on my hand, hoping it will give me strength. I'm almost to the camp site when something rustles in the bush next to me. I unsheath my sword thinking it's just another animal, and use it to part the bushes.  I don't know who was more surprised, me or the orc.
