Everyone has their own ways to show Love. And in this part, I'll talk on how is the proper way of 'Loving Him'. 'Him' i.e., the Supreme, you might call him God, Allah or Bhagwan. That doesn't matter. It is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Throughout the chapter, I'll only address by 'Him' only.
So, I was reading this book on Surrender written by Swami RamSukhaDas and the philosophy from this book mainly moved me is about 'Loving him', i.e., how can we Love Him?

Like consider, someone loves you. Now there's a question bugging you back in your mind since you've learned about the matter is, why does he/she love you?

We love someone when we like some qualities they possess. Most of the males love a female because of her beauty, similarly, females love males because of their physical or financial strength. Look, I'm not saying that we shouldn't look for these qualities in our partners, they are indeed very important, having such qualities is important to cope with practicality, i.e., to live in the society. It is absolutely practical that you love someone for some certain qualities they have.

Now, consider this if someone loves you only because of the fact that you are beautiful or only because you have money that you can spend on them, what result do they yield? The moment beauty leaves you, maybe due to old age or any accidents or you have suddenly started valuing your money and stopped spending on unnecessary gifts to buy them, the same moment your values lessen in their lives. So, it is really hurtful, when someone leaves you because they aren't getting something they expect from you. You give them something, that's why they love you, otherwise not.

Similarly, when you love Him, The Supreme, while considering His unlimited qualities i.e., considering He is beautiful, considering He can give you salvation or He is super strong and if you worship Him, He might give you some strength, like that and so on, what you are doing here is, worshipping him in order to receive something in return from him. It is not called proper surrender or devotion. You are attracted to Him only because you expect, He will give you what You wish to have. If you worship Him for getting something in return from Him, that's not the way of surrendering, that's not how you Love Him.

Love it is when you don't expect something in return.

You Love Him just because it is Him and you want to Love Him.

Nothing else matters.

That is the main dissimilarity between material love and the love between soul and super soul, pure devotee and God or Bhagwan, Jiva and Brahma.

In material love, you are bound to expect something in return but in spiritual love you just love.

Because, that is what spirituality is all about, i.e., Love itself.

You don't love Him because he will give you this and that. You love Him because it is Him and that's all you need to know about Him to love Him.

It is Him that's why you Love Him.

Otherwise, if you worship Him expecting financial abundance or salvation, you might get them, but you can never go near Him and we all know He is the most valuable belonging one can have.

Whoever loves Him only for Him, He gives them the position of His pure devotees and in return, He loves them the most. It is not that He only loves His devotees, He loves everyone else, however, His pure devotees are very dear to Him, because they only concentrate on Him, rather, on all his qualities.

The devotees who want redemption from Him and obeys all the austerities to please Him, He may give them the redemption they want (though only if they deserve so), but those devotees who don't want anything from Him, He gives Himself up to them.

That's the way of surrendering to Him.

In no circumstances, desire for something should come to your mind.

Even 'Please help me when in danger' also. That is Impure Love, mixed with Desire. Where we want something in return, there is no Love. That can only be compared to Passion, Desire, Infatuation, and Attachment.
That is not Love.
It can be instead, 'Just be with Me always'.

Love should be easy.

Loving him should be easier.
