The 's/tions' Of The Mind
She sees a rope lying in the dark,
And almost faints with fear,
It's not a snake, just a rope,
But the darkness causes illusions so near.
~
She believes in some made up ideas,
Her beliefs are unshakeable much,
Most of which are oh so baseless,
And has no cultural explanation as such
At times it's as grandiose as she's the queen,
Or maybe her friend is plotting for kill,
Or her husband is cheating on her,
Or even nihilistic ideas that she's dead still.
These beliefs affect her day to day working,
Paranoid she stays all the while,
Delusions we call them in medical terms,
Innocent they sound but are vile.
~
Then comes the feelings of presence,
When the object isn't really there,
Creepy smells and weird tickles,
Ghost in the vision and sounds in the ear.
They belittle and berate,
They whisper, mock, laugh and talk,
They command, force and persuade,
They make life a hell walk.
Hallucinations are really very common,
And they have no real reason,
Maybe tumors maybe just drugs,
But with the mind they play good treason.

Illusions: They happen when the object is simple and poses no threat but the environment makes us misinterpret that stimulus.
Delusions : False, unshakable beliefs that aren't related to customs or religions.
Hallucinations : Feeling things that doesn't exist. It can be any of the five senses. The voices may command to kill, may whisper negative words and maybe just pretend to laugh at what you do.
Illusions are normal, the other two can be treated if the underlying cause is diagnosed.
