Chapter 30 Regrouping: Coming To Terms With The Past
He gradually entered the boardroom, and much to his composure he tried to balance his emotions at the right stability. On the right side of the balance scale was the scoop of uneasiness outrightly trying to outweigh the scoop of sanguinity which was struggling to outweigh the scoop on the right.
Sam however acted as the pillar between the scoops of emotions. He chose to outweigh the scoop of consternation with hopes of remaining optimistic.
As he sat down on the chairman's seat, he parried his persistent trepidation by lightly drumming against his desk, with his fingers each branding the table with his moist fingerprints.
Phillip then rose to his feet and began the conference right in front of the Austin Industries Board members. The board members were seated on the left side of the table. Where else the chairs on the right side of the table were left unvacated?
"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you all for coming. Now without further ado, let's welcome the Wattanabe's."
From the ceiling, a streak of blue light emitted glossy toward the empty chairs on the right. The flash of blue lights gave rise to multiple holographic images of Asian men and women. Sam rose to his feet and greeted them. Thereafter, he glossed over the young enthralling Mariko who stood upright with her hand leaning against an elderly man's shoulder. Much to his admiration, he spoke to the Wattanabe with a carefree spirit and said, "Chayo' gozaima Wattanabe-san, meta o ai dekte ko'eidesu."
"Jokyo' o fumaote, 'osutin-shi ni o ai dekins koto o ureshiku omoimasu Austin-sen," replied Mr. Wattanabe.
He sat down while Mariko asked him, "My family and our board directors would like to know how and why the train exploded?"

He reached his hand out to his older brother helplessly and pleaded, "Seth, please don't! That's my father's dream."
"How ironic? I begged you to return with me to Codex and avenge our father," replied Seth as he marched off to the incomplete train which was a closer distance away.
He then directed his finger at the train, "And you want me to spare this insufferable machinery for your own life?"
Sam looked down to the floor he was lying on and Seth said, "You're a fool!"
Seth blasted the train with his heat vision, and it exploded.
"Sam! Sam!" Mariko called out to him.
"Huh? Oh sorry, I was...um," he cleared his throat while Mr. Wattanabe narrowed his eyes, glaring bluntly at him while also influencing the rest of the board members to hoist their attention on him.
"You seem to be absent-minded Mr. Austin," stated Mr. Wattanabe.
He gradually shook his head and continued "Oh...um...I'll tell you."
"Alright then, get it on with." He crossed his arms, impatiently waiting for his reply.
"Well you see, our engineers tried to..to...ahem. I meant to say that they attempted to test the prototype. However, because of the train's weak structural integrity, the power source particles moved uncontrollably, thus causing an immense explosion. Unfortunately, due to the horrific incident, many of them died a gruesome death."
Upon saying those words, he swallowed a hard lump, as grief was etched in his eyes. Then there was chattering among the board members until finally, Mr. Wattanabe took the initiative to speak. When his mouth broadened, silence illuminated the boardroom.
"Mr. Austin, your company lacks the proper resources to build a train!" He looked away for a brief moment and scoffed furtively to himself while the rest of the board members gazed at him (Mr. Wattanabe) as if he were some statue of historical value.
"Not only that but your company's incompetence has ultimately led to the deaths of innocent men. Such an incident is unacceptable on your account. As a result, we are complacent toward working with you. Since the Watanabe name holds prestige across the continent, we do not want to tarnish it by aligning ourselves with reckless associates!"
His words incited a pandemonium of rage that was boiling inside of him. However knowing Sam, he kept his composure and listened even further.
"And with that said, the Wattanabe's volunteer to reconstruct the train under the Japanese sail!" He briefly nodded, expressing his gratitude for their decision.
"Consider it done," Sam said.

AT THE HOSPITAL
Harrison waited patiently in the waiting room. With his fingers intertwined, he glanced at the floor, clouded with distraught. Although he attempted to cling to sanguinity, It seemed futile, however. Remaining optimistic in a time where everything went anything but south was onerous, to say the least.
However, he had to remain optimistic even if he did not have the strength to do so. The spirit of dejection yearned to possess him, it cloaked him with a mist of melancholy. Slowly but surely, his strength to remain optimistic was dwindling, like the flames of a campfire burning out because of a lack of wood.
"Mr. Samson," called out a soft voice.
"Huh?" He responded and looked up thereafter.
He glanced at the sight of a ravishing young nurse. With short blue hair, similar to that of a blueberry marble in pigment.
"Doctor Allison is ready to see you."
After much guidance from the nurse, he was able to find his way to his father's ward. When he got in there, he slowly closed the door from behind and was in a state of nonpluss. His mouth stretched open and his eyes nearly marbled out. He took a few steps further while Doctor Allison locked hands with his father. Who in turn glanced at her with faint eyes.
"Dad!" He turned to the side and grinned to his delight.
Harrison stormed off and enveloped him with a warm embrace while his father stroked his back.
"I'm so happy to see you!"
"Me too son!"
Doctor Allison watched from behind with a smile, touched by their bond.
"Dad, I'm sorry I couldn't protect her!"
He rubbed his son's back, "It's not your fault, son."
He broke down for a while longer while Doctor Allison stepped back, "I'll give you guys some space."
She made her departure while tears trickled down his cheeks.
Arthur then held firmly onto his upper arms and spoke with conviction. "It's gonna be alright son!"
"No, it's not!"
Arthur tightened his grip on his arms while he looked away, "Son, Believe me! It's gonna be alright! Hey hey, look at me!"
Harrison locked eyes with him, inclining attentively to his words. "We've gotta hold on to hope buddy. It's not easy I know. I may be a crippled old man but that doesn't mean it's the end. It's moments like these that build us. Now ask yourself this question, what kind of a man will you be after this? Hopeless or stronger?"
He looked down and gradually swallowed a lump, before continuing he lock eyes with his father once more, with his brows rigidly firm as his father continued, "You still got me Harry, and your friends. That's the most important thing alright. Your mother was a strong woman, she never believed in dwelling in the past. In moments like these, she would be smiling than crying her ass off. Hold on to hope son. Please, hold onto it!"
The two shared an affectionate embrace once more.

The Penthouse
The doors of the elevator jarred open, Harrison stepped forth as his siblings gleamed at him from afar while also indulging in a slice of pizza.
"Harrison!" Diana screamed ecstatically. She gushed out of her seat and embraced him passionately.
"Thank God, we were starting to think that you weren't coming back!"
He gently patted her on the back, "I had to, we're family."
The other three grinned to their delight, while Gordon shoved another slice down his throat. "Speaking of family. There is something we need to talk about," Sam said.
"Sure thing Mr. Austin."
"Just call me Sam."
He sat down while Sam addressed them. He (Sam) took a cloth and wiped off the dew of sauces on his cheeks.
"We've all had a tough time and I understand that. I've been thinking a lot lately. You know, Caldor was a good man, an honorable one at that. I think that this is what he would've wanted, for all of us to be united and not fight amongst ourselves. Therefore, from now on; whatever we do, we do it together. We will shed tears together and we will go through shit together!"
The other three imploded with laughter, he laughed with them and further continued with his statement "...We go through shit together!"
Diana then intervened, "And when we lose, we do that together too."
A sharp grin gleamed from the corners of his lips, "Hey, now you're getting it, Diana!"
"When Caldor activated our primordial genes, we all got these god-like powers. Though they were a curse now and then, they've also become useful. That's why I want us to use them to do good and honor his ingenuity. What do you say?"
He stretched his hand toward the center of the table, with his palm facing the surface of the table. Diana instantly placed her hand on his outstretched arm, while Harrison joined in afterward. Meanwhile, Dan crossed his arms while everyone was gawking at him.
"Dan?" Diana insisted.
He sighed and smiled. He then placed his hand on Harrison's.
"Yeah, what the heck. A guy needs to loosen up from time to time."
"One; two; three! Go, Mighty Force!"
"Gooo Mighty Force!" The others followed.
"Whoa whoa what the hell, the Mighty Force? Who came up with such a bogus name? I was hoping for team badass or something like that," stated Dan while Diana gesturely raised her right brow.
"Really? Team badass. Is that the best that you can come up with?"
"Yeah! We are a badass team we need to show 'em whose boss you know what I'm saying!"
Sam then raised his right hand with enthusiasm, "All in favor of team badass raise your hand."
It would seem that Dan was the only one who raised his hand.
"All in favor of the Might Force, raise your hand!" They all raised their hands as he continued, "Sorry Dan looks like we are going for The Mighty Force!"
"Hmph!" He started with his arms crossed as he looked away.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? A family, how admirable. Caldor would be proud," said Gordon.
Suddenly, the ground shook violently. The legs of the table drummed viciously against the floor, while the plates swiveled to the edge of the table as if they were pulled by a merciless hurricane. The five found themselves preyed on by this unfathomable circumstance. They nearly stumbled on the floor, as they were on spaghetti legs, and tried to find balance while the tremor continued to wreak havoc.
"What the hell's going on?" Dan inquired.
"Only one thing is capable of causing this tremor!" Gordon stated as he hastily leaned against the wall.
"What, an earthquake?" Sam inquired.
"No! A mothership!"
Their eyeballs widened with astonishment, and their jaws dropped instantly.
"He's here!" They all said at once.
