Inside the W.A.N.D. secret base of operations, Phil Coulson opened up a tab on the interactive holographic screen showing the first recruit of the Midnight Suns Protocol. While Doctor Strange and Blade were getting ready to find their first recruit, Robbie Reyes (Ghost Rider) and Wolverine walked into the room. Wolverine looked around in silence for a while, looking at the cold steel interior of the large room, surrounded by high tech.

Wolverine: Well you guys seem tense, can someone explain to me what the hell that was back there? What's going on?

Strange looks at Coulson in confusion.

Doctor Strange: I didn't know he was on the team...

Blade: He's not. Robbie...

Robbie Reyes: Look when I got there he was already there fighting so I figured...

Phil Coulson: We need all hands on deck. Welcome aboard Logan.

Wolverine: So what is this place exactly?

Phil Coulson: After everything that happened in recent years, S.W.O.R.D has been working to create a branch department that specializes in the world of magic and the supernatural.

Wolverine: W.A.N.D right?

Phil Coulson: Fury chose me as its director since I've had some experience in that arena a few years ago, that was when I met Robbie over here.

Wolverine: Yeah what's his deal exactly? It's not everyday you see a man with a burning skull fighting zombies in the streets. And trust me, I've seen many weird stuff over the years.

Robbie Reyes: What you saw was the Ghost Rider, some sort of "spirit of vengeance". It was passed on to me by a man named Johnny Blaze to save me after I got shot.

Wolverine: So can you like... Control it or what?

Robbie Reyes: Sometimes.

Logan looks at him with a slight frown and turns to Blade.

Wolverine: And who are you supposed to be?

Blade: Blade.

Wolverine: And you do what exactly?

Blade: I hunt monsters... With a blade. I'm also a vampire.

Wolverine: Seriously...

Doctor Strange: Look we don't really have the time to get to know each other, we need to find the others and stop this before it's too late.

Wolverine: Others?

Coulson opens the tab on the screen with the names and faces of the candidates.

Blade: Nearly each of these candidates has some form of experience in dealing with threats such as the one we are facing right now. The ones who do not, are skilled and ruthless enough to do what has to be done.

Wolverine: Care to enlighten me.

A beeping sound suddenly activated on the monitor, revealing yet another portal that has opened up, this time in London.

Phil Coulson: Robbie...

Robbie Reyes: We better start doing something about these portals... and quick, because it seems like I'm the only one who can close them. Once they start appearing in multiple places at once, I can't be everywhere.

He opens up a portal to London with his fiery chains, swinging it in a vertical circle.

Doctor Strange: You won't have to because it seems like these portals will eventually stop once they've successfully breached our universe. These small breaches are only the growing pains.

Robbie Reyes: What do you mean?

Phil Coulson: The energy readings on the monitor indicates there is a massive spike in dimensional energy in a small town in Transia. It seems like that is the place where the real breach will open up. The good news is we can try and fend them off at one single location, the bad news is that they could overwhelm us in numbers.

Robbie Reyes: That's what the team is for right?

Robbie turns into the Ghost Rider and exits through the portal.

Blade: The thing that's bothering me the most is the fact that Transia is the exact location of Wundagore, the place where the darkhold was transcribed.

Wolverine: And what does that mean?

Doctor Strange: It means we could be in much bigger danger than we realize.

Wolverine: Then we better get going.

Coulson opens the tab on the first candidate, The Punisher.

Phil Coulson: Our first recruit is Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher. Former United States Marine turned vigilante after his entire family got brutally murdered in front of him. While serving in Afghanistan, Castle joined the black-ops team, Cerebrus squad, aimed at capturing, interrogating, and executing high-value targets. During a mission in Afghanistan, things took a turn for the worse, Castle and his entire team got flanked by enemy forces and were ambushed. He fought through them with everything he got and in the end he emerged out of the chaos as the only survivor.

Coulson switched to the next recruit on the interactive holographic board.

Phil Coulson: Agatha Harkness, a witch from Salem, Massachusetts...

Wolverine: I'm sorry what?

Phil Coulson: I've learned it's better not to question things by now. Just roll with it... Wielding an insane amount of power such as energy manipulation, energy projection, teleportation, levitation, energy absorption, mental manipulation, telekinesis, transmutation, near immortality and advanced spell casting among many other abilities. She became corrupted by the darkhold and was accused by her own coven and condemned to death during the Salem witch trials, but she instead absorbed all their power and killed them instead. For over 300 years, she sought to find more power until finally coming face to face with the fabled Scarlet Witch whom you are all familiar with. After being released from the corruption of the darkhold a few years ago, Agatha has been trying to find her way back, but the darkhold's 300 year effect on her mind will prevent her from fully recovering, it's best to approach her with caution.

Wolverine: Why choose her?

Phil Coulson: She could be a valuable asset if she's an ally.

Blade: What if she or any of them refuses to join?

Doctor Strange: If they still refuse after being told the ramifications, they have made their choice.

Coulson switched the tab to the next recruit.

Phil Coulson: Moon Knight, also known as Marc Spector, or Steven Grant, or Jake Lockley. A former mercenary with three different personalities, gifted with powers by the ancient Egyptian moon god known as khonshu to act as his avatar... or as he calls it, fist of vengeance, protecting the travelers of the night. Dealing with the supernatural is his entire thing, and he's pretty good at it.

The monitor switches to the next recruit.

Phil Coulson: Elsa Bloodstone, not much is known about her except that she comes from a family of monster hunters and recently came into the posession of one of our items of interest, the bloodstone, granting her many abilities such as heightened senses, speed, durability, strength and reflexes.

Doctor Strange: You're saying her surname is the same as the name of the weapon she wields?

Phil Coulson: The bloodstone was named after the bloodstone family, passed on for generations. It might also be the key to whatever is happening since her whereabouts are exactly where we are picking up massive dimensional energy readings.

Blade: I've heard of the bloodstone before. Elsa and I have a... complicated history. All I know is that it's a very powerful weapon. You really think that the bloodstone might be what's causing this?

Doctor Strange: So the bloodstone is currently in Transia?

Phil Coulson: Correct. If the bloodstone is somehow the reason this is happening, maybe it can be used to stop it.

The monitor switches to the last candidate.

Phil Coulson: The final recruit is none other than the Scarlet Witch, or most recently renamed the Scarlet Redeemer after saving the multiverse from Kang the Conqueror a few months ago. We know her better as Wanda Maximoff. I assume I don't really have to tell you much about her since you are all well aware of what she's capable of. Having her part of the team could be the difference between winning and losing. Although she is one of the most powerful beings in the known universe, she might still be unreliable regarding her powerset. I doubt she will ever be able to fully control it, but when she does so on occasion, it could mean all the difference.

London

A few minutes ago in London, a purple rift opened up near the apartment of Marc Spector, also known as Steven Grant, also on very rare occasions, Jake Lockley. Most know him as Moon Knight. He quickly suited up to try and fight them off, but the more he killed, the more appeared out of the rift. They overwhelmed him in numbers but he was too fast and too strong to go down that easily.

Marc: (Speaks to Steven inside his mind while fighting) Where do these things come from?

Steven: Beats me mate, but they do seem to target us specifically.

Marc: Yeah no shit.

Marc took out two moon shaped blades and used them as knucklebusters to kill them.

Steven: How do we close that portal thingy?

Marc: I don't know if we can.

The zombies became so many that they climbed all over him from all sides. He then used a grappling hook to fly over to the top of a building. He then looked out over the city and saw chaos in the streets with multiple people getting infected and killed.

Marc: We have to save these people.

Steven: Yeah I don't think we can be everywhere at once bruv.

While Moon Knight tried to figure out what he should do, Ghost Rider came out of a portal and began clearing the area. Ghost Rider once again threw his chains at the rift and dragged it down, closing it for good. Moon knight saw everything as he looked down from the top of the building.

Marc: What the hell is that thing?

Steven: Who cares! He seems to be on our side.

Moon Knight jumped off the building and helped Ghost Rider kill all the remaining zombies. After every zombie was killed off, Ghost Rider turned back into Robbie.

Robbie Reyes: (Holds out his hand) You must be Moon Knight. I'm Robbie.

Moon Knight refuses to shake his hand.

Moon Knight (Marc): So you clearly know what just happened here, care to explain it to us?

Robbie Reyes: Well to make it quick and powerful, these rifts have been opening up around the world. With it, zombies. We were tasked to close these rifts and recruit a team to help us fight them off before it's too late.

Moon Knight (Steven): But why were they attacking us specifically?

Robbie Reyes: That I do not know. Thus far these rifts seem to appear at random spots. Maybe it was just a coincidence that the rift opened up right next to your apartment.

Moon Knight (Marc): Pff, coincidence my ass.

Robbie Reyes: Look man, will you join us or not?

He holds out his hand once again.

Moon Knight (Marc): It doesn't look like there's much of a choice, is there? What else are we gonna do, watch TV in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? I'm in.

Moon Knight (Steven): Yeah I don't think it's such a great idea mate. I'm definitely not in.

Moon Knight (Marc): Oh come on Steven, grow a pair. It's just zombies. What's the worst that could happen? Hell we even fought Kang and his army.

Moon Knight (Steven): Last I remember, you fought Kang and his army. I was forced to join you... If we die, I will never speak to you again.

Robbie Reyes: That doesn't even... Well I guess...

Moon Knight (Marc): We're not gonna die! If we don't help them, the entire world will die.

Moon Knight (Steven): Bloody hell...

Robbie Reyes: So? You in or not?

Moon Knight (Steven): I can't believe I'm doing this. Fine, I'm in.

They then shook hands with Robbie in agreement.
