CHAPTER 4
3rd Person POV
"Ah! Where am I? I don't even recognize this place!" 8-year-old Yukio thought as he wandered around, walking round and round in circles, taking in the majestic sight of green rolling hills in front of him, leaving him breathless and panicked because the green hills reminded him that although it is a gorgeous sight, there wasn't any sight of a living, breathing organism.
"Hello..?" Yukio asked, hoping to hear a response. It had been a few minutes since he had entered this strange place and he didn't remember how he had gotten there. All he remembered was the voice of his mother, his sweet loving and kind mother, calling out for him to inform him that his lunch was ready, and the next thing he knew, he was in this strange place, stranded and no where to go, and not even knowing where this place is.
"Hello.......?"Yukio asked hesitantly, wondering if there was anyone here that could hear him since it was starting to get a little creepy since there was no one who was answering his call. Younger Yukio took a small, nervous step back, feeling his fear of loneliness creep up towards his throat, feeling that cloying feeling clogging up his throat, unable to breath. Yukio took another stumble back but before he could fall, he felt someone catching him, someone whose hands are cold.
"Ah!" Yukio screamed, jumping up in shock because of the sudden sensation on his shoulder, and before he could make any noise, his hand was pulled by a stranger deep into the planes of green.
"Hey! Who are you? Why are you pulling me with you? Hey! I am asking you! Let me go!" Yukio yelped at the stranger as the stranger nimbly vaulted through the trees, pulling Yukio with him. Yukio glanced upwards after he had gotten used to the sensation of the momentum, and he stared at the blonde locks of hair of the stranger in shock, couldn't believe his eyes that he had seen such beautiful locks of hair.
"Like gold.....his hair is like gold...." Yukio thought, hearing a small chuckle coming from the mysterious person, and he blushed softly, realizing that he had spoken out loud, and the mysterious stranger glanced back at Yukio, a small smirk of amusement on his lips, making Yukio stare in awe, a thought lit up in his mind, that this person, this unusually beautiful person is actually almost the same age as him.
"My name is Yukio! What's yours?" Yukio asked in an unusual cheerful way, making the person stop in his tracks, smirking fully in amusement, loving every second of being able to spend time with the little boy over there.
"Hello. My name is___"

Yukio's POV
Beep! Beep! Beep!
I woke up with a start, my vision blurring as I glanced around in panic, seeing white all over. In my panicked haze, I started to observe my surroundings more vigilantly, checking every corner to see if there was any objects that screamed danger, and after seeing that I was not in danger, I took deep breaths, slowing my breathing to a calm one, my vision slowly going clear, and as I glanced to my right, I saw a heartbeat monitor showing my heartbeat.
"Huh....I wake up in a hospital. Again." I thought in amusement as I glanced around my surroundings, now in my clearly awake state, realising that I am in the hospital, again. My amusement fell as I thought about what happened when I was in the meeting room of the headquarters of the police force in Tokyo, or in my words, HQ, and I clenched my hands in frustration, couldn't believe that I had shown my weakness in front of the four people who I trusted with my life and my heart, and that I had fainted right in front of them without them knowing what was going on!
"What's wrong with me...? I thought I had gotten over that past already...." I whispered softly to myself, clenching and unclenching my fist as I thought about my past, about that time I was held in that particular cell in Serendell for hundreds of years, and that time when I went back home to find that everything had changed, that my kind mother had passed away and that my older brother was old and had working grandnephews and nieces, and their children, and that I realized that I can't grow old, that I will be forever young, and I still remembered that day I had lost everything, that time I felt as if I was stuck in a loop, repeating everything in my head over and over until I couldn't stand it anymore. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a soft knock on my door, following by a mop of blonde hair peeking through the gap, and I knew who it was.
"You can come in Jensen." I said with a sigh, knowing that Jensen will definitely barge into my hospital room even if I don't let him in, and I saw him walking into the hospital room with the others, and I felt my heart sank. They were all wearing their full uniform, their ceremonial badges adorning the top left part of the collared work shirt, just above the top of the upper left pocket.
"What in the world is going on?" I asked Jensen with a raised eyebrow, seeing him communicating with Ayame silently through their eyes, before Jensen spoke up, his vice grave.
"We are all deployed to the Shibuya Street in Tokyo by headquarters. And the situation there....well, I think you should see for yourself." Jensen said and I quickly got out of my hospital bed, stood very near to the window and looked out, seeing rows and rows of people holding up boards marching up and down the streets, and some were even waving fists. I heard a cough from Hishiro, catching my attention, before he spoke up.
"We are tasked with taking you out to the streets to calm the situation once you deem yourself able to continue your duty, well, if you think you are okay with handling this with us of course." Hishiro said with an awkward cough, and I knew that although Jensen was worried, but it was Hishiro who was worried about me that badly this time.
"I'm okay. Let me change my clothes and then, we can go. This gown is definitely uncomfortable. Look at this belt! I am sure people will be suffocated from it!" I exclaimed in mock horror, and I heard chuckles erupting from everyone, and I chuckled, quickly taking my full police uniform that Hishiro was holding, and I changed into my full uniform, smiling at how comforting it felt, as if everything was going to be okay no matter what.
"Let's go." I said and everyone nodded, taking the elevator, and walking out into the streets after escaping the crowded elevator.
~~~~~~
"Sir? Madam? Are you alright?" I asked while rushing into the scene as I quickly pulled two people out of the mob of protesters that almost stamped on them. As I asked that question, the bald-haired man and his wife, a pretty older woman with light brown hair started fuming, their hands raising up threateningly, and seeing this, I took a step back in fear, my mind racing because I didn't know that they are also the protesters that are lining the streets.
"Sir! Madam! Calm down! Ah!" I screamed as I felt fists after fists rained down on my head, and I quickly raised my hands up to block the punches, but it did not relent, instead, it still continued, and words were thrown out into the air, words that took me by surprise because of such high intensity of hatred and pain behind the words.
"You monster!"
"Pigs, all of them!"
"Even the military could have taken care of this better than you guys did. All you guys did was stand there and let that happened!"
"How can we call you guys heroes when you guys are not doing anything to protect the city? Now look at this, two people died! Two people!"
"One human is dead, and you fae are the ones who did it!"
"No, one of our fae died too and you humans did it!"
"What did you just said?!"
As rains of words and blows continued to rain down on me and towards both sides of the protestors, I felt someone pulling me gently yet insistently, and I let myself been pulled, my heart aching when I saw the protestors of both sides shouting at each other, the words muffled by the ringing in my ear, and I saw how fragile this peace really is, how useless it is now to stop the people from blaming each other.
"This is not your fault, Kio." I heard a soft and reassuring whisper in my ear and I turned around, seeing Hishiro's face right in front of mine, and I sighed, glancing emotionlessly at the protestors again, feeling the tightening feeling in my chest growing as I just realized that there is nothing I can do, that there is nothing the whole police force can do to stop this protest. After all...
We are the ones who had started it.
If only I was fast enough to stop the deaths,.....
None of this would have happened.
I was so out of thoughts that I had barely noticed someone sitting next to me, sighing softly, making all of the hairs on my body stand up because of how close she was.
"Peace is so fragile, isn't it?" The person, a pointed ear girl with long silver hair whispered softly, an ironic smile lighting up her face as she did so, and I turned around, glancing at her with an eyebrow raised, wondering who that girl was because she seemed familiar to me like a distant memory.
"Who....are you?" I asked softly, my curiosity got the better of me, and I heard a soft chuckle from the girl before she turned around, facing me, and I gasped, realizing why she looked so familiar to me, and that distant memory that I was trying to recall became clearer, and I just realized that my past was coming to haunt me when I heard the words coming from her petite mouth.
"Hi, I am Seline Bravenwood, and I am the new messenger of the new king of Serendel, and you are summoned by the king, Yukio Sakuragi."
Ooooooooohhhhh! I wonder what is going to happen next! See you guys in the next chapter and I'm so sorry to upload this story so late because of my assignments. 😭😭😭😭
