*Chapter Fifteen* {Unpleasantville}

*Skipped Bloodlines*

Christian shuts the door to his mustang and walks towards the Grill. He enters and instantly starts searching for his boyfriend. When he finds him he notices a short girl with him by the pool table. He narrows his eyes and focuses his hearing on them.

"Cool, so what'd he say about the vampires? Did he believe it?" The girl asked.

"I don't even believe it. It's just a paper, Anna. Anyways, I,uh- I gotta get goin" Jeremy says making eye contact with Christian. He sets the pool stick down and walks around the table.

"Uh, hey, umm... D-do you wanna do something later, maybe?" Anna asks. Growling lowly, Christian quickly weaves through the crowd, jealousy bubbling in his stomach with how close Anna was standing to Jeremy.

"Uh, sorry, I'm stuck on punch duty at the school dance" Jeremy mutters.

"Oh, how'd you get stuck with that?" Anna grins at him. Before Jeremy could answer Christian appears behind him. Anna looks up at the fairly large vampire.

"Ready to go?" Christian asks Jeremy. Jeremy spins around and relaxes at the sight of his vampire boyfriend. Christian doesn't spare him a glance, just glares at Anna trying to be intimidating.

Christian knew she is a vampire. He's better at picking up those clues than his brothers. It helped that he spent a good portion of his vampire life with one of the most powerful vampires in existence.

However, by the lack of intimidation on Anna's face Christian knew she was a pretty old vampire which means she would be stronger than him which then meant he had to be smarter.

"Say goodbye to your friend" Christian demands. He could feel his temper rising but knew he had to try and keep it under control. He knew this isn't the first time Jeremy and Anna have been together, Jeremy's told him about her before. However, now he knows Anna is a vampire and that upset him. Anna could have hurt Jeremy, she could have fed on him or killed him. That didn't settle well with Christian.

"Well, thanks for the help. I'll see you around" Jeremy says as Christian grabs Jeremy's backpack. Anna frowns and Christian knew she was frustrated. Christian grabs Jeremy's arm and practically drags him out of the Grill. "Chris, Chris, chill you're gonna break my fucking arm off."

"I don't want you to go near her again" Christian growls turning to him once they left the Grill.

"She came up to me, I was trying to not be an asshole." Jeremy snapped ripping his arm out of Christian's grip.

"Next time, be an asshole. Tell her to go fuck off" Christian growls turning back to the mustang. He opens the passenger door and tosses the bag inside. "Get in" Jeremy does as told and Christian slams the door shut, shattering the window making Jeremy jump. "Damn it" Christian mumbles under his breath before going over to the drivers seat.

"She's a vampire, isn't she?" Jeremy said glancing at Christian. Christian forces himself to take a deep breath.

"Yeah" Christian grumbles.

"She just helped me out a bit, I wasn't trying to get close to her" He said looking over at Christian.

"I know" Christian mutters grabbing Jeremy's hand. Christian lifts their hands to his lips and kisses Jeremy's knuckles. "I'm sorry for losing my temper"

"Do you know her? Is that why you got angry?" Jeremy asked.

"No, I don't know her" Christian shakes his head. "I just don't like other vampire's around you, especially ones I don't know. She went to you for a reason and I don't know why."

"I'll stay away from her" Jeremy reassures him.

"Don't piss her off" Christian says sighing heavily. "Don't tell her to fuck off, don't set her off. I think she might be older than me which means she'll be stronger than me. Just try and keep your distance until I can figure out what she wants and how to keep her away"

"What if she corners me?" Jeremy asks. Christian smirks.

"She'd have to get through me first" Christian says looking at him. "Jeremy, a very strong vampire wants you for whatever reason, I'm not letting you out of my sight" He promises with a wink. Jeremy tries to hide is grin and looks out the window. "Which means I get to go to this stupid dance, yay me" Christian says sarcastically.

"Do you have anything for me to wear tonight?" Jeremy asked. Christian nods.

"Don't know how much would fit you" He says giving Jeremy a cocky smirk. "I am bigger than you" Jeremy rolls his eyes causing Christian to laugh and speed to the boarding house.

"Do your brothers know I have my memories from Halloween?" Jeremy asks climbing out of the car after Christian parks.

"If they didn't they're not as smart as I give them credit for" Christian says walking behind Jeremy up to the house. "Don't worry, they won't say anything."

Jeremy jogs up the steps and into Christian's room. Christian closes the door behind him and walks over to his desk while Jeremy goes into the closet. He was slightly surprised by how organized Christian is.

"You have clothes from every decade" Jeremy notes and they were all in order.

"Being a businessman, such as myself, I pride myself in being organized. I wasn't always like this but I picked up on a few things throughout the years" Christian shrugs pouring himself a drink.

"Don't have many from the 50's though" Jeremy mumbles to himself but Christian hears him. Christian tenses slightly. He sets the liquor bottle down and raises his class up to his lips. "What was your favorite part of the 50's?" Jeremy asked.

"To be honest... I don't really remember much" Christian says lowly, almost too low for Jeremy to hear. Jeremy pokes his head out of the closet and looks at Christian. The vampire is looking out the window, deep in thought.

"Why?" Jeremy asks before he can help himself. At first, Jeremy didn't think he was gonna answer the question. He almost went back to the clothes when Christian finally spoke up.

"I didn't have my humanity in the 50's" Christian tells him. Jeremy frowns his eyebrows and walks out of the closet and sits on his bed.

"What does that mean?" Jeremy asks. Christian smirks and finishes his drink.

"It means I was a complete asshole, more than usual" Christian says finally looking at Jeremy. "A vampire with no humanity is a vampire with no remorse. A extremely ruthless vampire. The person they were before flipping the switch isn't there and they will do everything in their power to keep it off. Being a vampire, everything is amplified, sometimes it gets too much so we just turn it off. It's... exhilarating. No remorse, no regret."

"Why did you turn it off?" He asks.

"Love" Christian tells him. "Or, lack thereof" He corrects himself.

"Husband?" Jeremy asks hesitantly. Christian clenches his jaw and looks at his feet.

"Fiancé" Christian confesses. "We never got the chance to get married" He whispers. He lifts his head and drowns the rest of his drink before walking back to his desk. He refills the glass wishing they weren't having this conversation right now.

"Does this have to do with Elijah?" Jeremy asks instantly gaining Christian's attention. Before Jeremy could even blink Christian has him pinned against the wall, his forearm across Jeremy's collarbones.

"Where did you hear that name?" Christian growled wondering which brother he needs to murder. What didn't make sense was that neither of his brother knew his name, nobody knew his name but Lexi and some of his employees. So, how did Jeremy get his name?

Jeremy's heart raced in his chest and for the first time, he truly feared Christian. Every other time he was scared of Christian it only lasted a few seconds before Jeremy remembered Christian wouldn't hurt him. But now, Christian has this glint in his eyes and it struck fear into Jeremy.

"Where?!" Christian shouted.

"In-in your desk!" Jeremy shouts back. "I saw a-a picture... It had his name on it!"

"Christian, let him go!" Stefan shouted racing into the room. Christian growls as Stefan races towards him. He tosses Jeremy across the room and speeds towards his brother. Stefan had the momentum and quickly flings his brother out the window. Christian groans as he slams into the ground. He quickly stands up and growls to himself before speeding of into the woods.

Stefan watches his brother run off and sighs to himself. He turns to Jeremy and inches towards him. Jeremy shook slightly in his spot. He hadn't expected Christian to explode like he just had.

"Jeremy?" Stefan asks kneeling in front of him.

"He was going to kill me" Jeremy whispers. Stefan presses his lips together. "I never thought he would do that"

"What set him off?" Stefan asks calmly.

"I just... I just mention Elijah" Jeremy stuttered slightly. Stefan frowns his eyebrows, the name not ringing any bells. As he thought about it he slowly came to the realization of who Elijah is.

"Oh shit" Stefan whispers sitting down on the floor. "How did you figure out his name?"

"You didn't know his name?" Jeremy asks softly. Stefan shook his head.

"The only one who knew his name is Lexi and she's..." Stefan didn't finish but Jeremy knew. "Christian didn't like talking about it and while they were together he wasn't exactly on speaking terms with me nor Damon." Stefan explained to him. "How did you figure it out?"

"There's a picture in his desk of the two of them together," Jeremy explains. "Looks as if it was set in the 20's" Stefan stands and goes to Christian's desk. Jeremy tells him where it is and Stefan finds it.

"This is in Christian's club in New York" Stefan notices.

"I should get going" Jeremy mutters standing up.

"Jeremy, wait" Stefan says setting the picture down.

"What?" Jeremy asks turning to him. "I'd rather not be here when he gets back"

"I know Christian reacted badly-" Jeremy scoffs and Stefan sighs. "You have to understand how much this 'Elijah' meant... means to Christian" Jeremy glances at him. Despite his fear of Christian and his anger that Christian acted like that he felt himself burning with curiosity.

"Christian says he.. turned his humanity off" Jeremy brings up. Stefan nods.

"He turned it off sometime in the 30's. Lexi and I found him in 1970 and he still had his humanity off. It took us a year to get him to turn it back on, it usually only takes a few months, if that." Stefan tells him.

"Why was it so hard for him?" Jeremy asks.

"When you have no humanity all of your emotions are off. To turn it back on, you have to get them to feel something. Something strong. We tried fear but there isn't much that Christian fears and we didn't know what that was so we couldn't use it against him. We tried love but we didn't know about Elijah and Christian doesn't exactly love. So, we had to break him down and get inside of his head but Christian is very strong and it took time" Stefan explained to him.

"What caused him to turn it off?" Jeremy asked.

"Elijah broke off the wedding" Stefan tells him. "I don't know the details but it wasn't exactly a kind way and it destroyed him. Only within the last decade has Christian started showing signs of being my brother again. Then he found you and he's becoming more like the Christian I grew up with"

"I don't think I mean as much to him as either of us think" Jeremy grumbles.

"Jeremy, if you didn't mean something, a big something, to Chris then he would have killed you the instant you mentioned his name" Stefan explains. "Chris has come extremely close to killing me and Damon over the years because we tried to learn about Elijah or we mentioned the situation. The only reason we're alive is because we weren't alone when we tried to pry some information out of him. Lexi was there with us and she always managed to get Chris off of us before he could kill us."

"I think he would have killed me if you didn't show up" Jeremy says looking at his shoes.

"I don't think he would have" Jeremy scoffs not believing him. "Jeremy, you spooked Chris. Nobody, not even he himself, has uttered Elijah's name. Not even Lexi said his name because of the pain it brings Chris. You deserve to know what happened if you're going to get serious with him, I understand that. I don't think you should give up on him. Let him come to you, he will, trust me he will. Let him explain himself, talk with him."

"How can I trust him if he attacks me like that after just mentioning a name?" Jeremy asks.

"That's something you have to figure out" Stefan tells him. "Chris has gone through a lot in his past but nothing scared him as deeply as whatever happened between him and Elijah. I think if anyone is going to get information out of him, it's you"

"Why me?" Jeremy asks him.

"You're the first boy since Elijah that he's kept around and calls his boyfriend" Stefan tells him. "That right there is enough to tell me that you mean more to him than either of us could possibly understand." Jeremy sighs rubbing his face. "Look, all I'm saying is let him explain himself and talk it out with him. Then make your decision if you can trust him enough to stay with him"
