Chapter 9
"This is your house?!" I gasped
"Yup." The house was absolutely amazing. We pulled through the large white gate after Isaac put in a pin and up around the curved driveway.
The lawn was beautiful and perfectly kept. Green grass covered ever inch of it.
The house was a light shade of gray that was accented with a creme color. It was at least 3 stories with an attic. It was not only high but wide and surrounded by small bushes and a lavish garden.
A man came and took Isaac's car and tilted his hat at me, "Nice to finally meet you Ms. Taylor. My name is Stephan." I nodded my head and said thank you before gawking at the house some more while Alex and Issac pulled out my bags.
"The inside is better." Isaac whispered in my ear and I shivered. I looked up at him and he was smiling, it made my knees go weak.
Alex went up to the door and unlocked it leading Isaac and I inside.
"Lianne! Lianne we're home!"
He led us into what looked like the kitchen and I saw an older women with auburn hair standing in front of the stove. The wonderful smells in the room told me she was making some type of food.
She turned around as we came in and flung her arms around Alex giving him a tight hug and kissing his cheeks. She did the same to Isaac as he greeted her and then turned to me,
"Oh darling. You're so beautiful!" I blushed bright red as she gave me a gentle hug and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you." I said quietly
"Oh honey you must be famished!"
"Actually Isaac stopped and got us something to eat." Alex said
"Alright, alright. Well you show this young lady up to her room and help her settle in." She turned to me, "Make sure you try and get some sleep tonight so the jet lag isn't too bad tomorrow." I nodded and Alex started off the way we had come in.
We each grabbed one of my bags in the foyer and Alex led us to an elevator.
"There's an elevator?!"
"Well yeah, unless you want to drag these up the stairs."
I shook my head as Isaac pushed the 2nd floor button.
We got out and faced a long hallway with doors on each side.
"Now be warned, it is almost never this quiet in this house. My dad just wanted to give you some time to adjust and settle in so he sent the others out for the night."
"Alright."
We came to a stop at the fourth door on the right. I'll have to remember that.
He opened the door and I gasped yet again.
The room was amazing. A queen sized bed sat in the middle with a flat screen TV mounted on the wall opposite. A dresser was under the TV and a desk was against the far wall. A gorgeous bay window was on the same wall and white see through curtains were drawn across it. A small couch was sitting against the wall closest to us and on either side of it was a door.
I opened the one on the left to reveal a huge walk in closet. The one on the right was a full bathroom.
"Wow." I said sitting down on the plush bed
"You like it?" Alex asked
"I love it." I beamed and laid out across the bed.
"Alright well I'll leave you to settle in. Press the green button on the intercom and then number 2 if you need to talk to Lianne, she can get you anything you need. My dad said he would come and make sure you're alright when he gets home from work. My room is the second door on the left. Got it?" I would probably forget but I nodded anyways.
"What about you?" I looked at Isaac and he shook his head.
"No I don't live here, I'm just this idiot's friend." I blushed and they turned to walk out the door.
"You're the idiot." Was the last thing I heard Alex say before he walked out the door and closed it behind him.
~°~°~°~°~°~
About three hours later there was a knock on the door and I called for them to come in.
A man probably in his late 40s came in. He was wearing a pair of sleek black pants and a white button down dress shirt that was tucked in. His hair was light brown with streaks of gray through it. His smile was warm and so were his chocolate brown eyes. He wasn't a very big man, just slightly taller than I was and as he came in he reached out his hand towards me.
I shook his hand, "It's wonderful to finally meet you, Abigail. My name is Paul Meyers, welcome to my home."
"It's nice to finally meet you too Mr. Meyers, you can call me Abby, and thank you for inviting me into your home."
"Oh it was my pleasure Abby, and please, call me Paul. Now how have you been doing?" That question had a lot more meaning to it than anyone would have ever guessed.
I took a deep breath. "I'm doing alright."
"That's wonderful. Now just to let you know none of my children know the details of why you were here. I figured it wasn't my story to tell. If they bother you about it, just let me know. Feel free to tell them whenever you feel comfortable doing so."
"Thank you, I appreciate that more than you know."
"Of course my dear. My office is on the first floor if you need anything, I'm sure Alex or someone can show you where it is tomorrow. Now I may warn you that some of my children aren't so used to the idea of a teenage girl living in their house, so please bear with them. Most of them are boys also, so please excuse their hormonal rage when it comes to girls. Again if any of them bother you, feel free to let me know and I'll handle it."
"Thank you Paul."
"Here I've written down my number so you can call me if there is ever an emergency. On the intercom, my office is number 1. You'll get it down how to use it eventually." He laughed at my confused expression before continuing.
"Lianne wanted me to let you know to make sure you sleep tonight so the jetlag won't be too bad tomorrow."
"Alright."
"Now Ms. Nancy told me over the phone that you were prescribed medication."
"For my anxiety."
"Alright well she made a follow up appointment for next week. Until then it is two doses a day correct?"
"Yes."
"And when did you take it today?"
"I took one before I left at 3 a.m. my time. Then 2 hours before I landed."
"Alright that sounds good. Lianne has asked that you tell her when you have taken it."
"Okay."
"Good. I'll have Alex give you a tour of the house tomorrow. Now if you'll excuse me, it's been quite a long day. It was wonderful meeting you Abby. I hope you like it here, I really do." I stood up and he wrapped me in a warm embrace. I was a little shocked to be honest. I wasn't used to men hugging me, but Paul was so warm. He seemed so tenderhearted and kind. I wrapped my arms around him and sighed, greatful for his warmth.
He let go and put one of his hands on each of my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. "I am always here if you need anything my dear."
"Thank you."
