Chapter 7

We arrived at Pitt-Greenville Airport about 15 minutes later.

Danny and Mr. and Mrs. Gregory met us just inside the door. We loaded my things unto a luggage car and then to the scanner thingy.

"I'm going to miss you guys, thank you all for everything you have ever done for me. It's helped me so much, more than you will ever know, and I appreciate it so much." I gave Mr. And Mrs. Gregory a hug and then Ms. Nancy, "I love you all."

They all had tears in their eyes as they helped me load my things up onto the scanner.

I walked through no problem as did Brittany and Danny who were going to walk me to the loading dock.

Once I set my carry-on down and we got all situated Brittany lit up, "We forgot to take a picture!"

So I got out my phone and Brittany held it up as we took one last picture together before they called my flight.

"Flight 316 to London, England will be boarding in 10 minutes." I looked over at my two best friends and tears welled up in my eyes.

"I love you guys, and we're going to stay in contact. We'll visit each other and stay best friends, forever."

"And you'll call us when you land." Brittany said, tears streaming down her face.

"Of course."

"Well, I guess I'll leave you guys to talk." Brittany winked at Danny and he rolled his eyes.

"What do you mean?" I asked, very confused

"You'll find out in a second. I love you girly, and you'll always be my best friend." She gave me another long hug and kissed me on the cheek before saying, "See you later." And walking away.

"See you later!" I called after her. She turned around and gave me an ear to ear smile before turning a corner and disappearing.

I turned to Danny and flung my arms around him. We stayed hugging for what seemed like hours.

"I love you Abby."

"I love you too Danny."

"No."

I pulled away, "No? What do you mean?"

"I love, love you Abby. I have for a really long time."

I stared at him in shock as all the pieces came together. Him going out of his way to act like a gentleman, the Skype call we had with Brittany that one night. It was all because he loved me. Not liked me, but loved me. And I had been too blind and naive to see it.

"You what?"

"Abby I love you, and I wanted to tell you, I really did. I spent hours upon hours trying to build up the courage to tell you how I felt. I was going to tell you after school let out but then Aunt May died and you were heartbroken. I didn't want to tell you while you were making the decision to leave. I felt like now would be the best time because, well, because there's no turning back."

"Danny I-"

"No Abby, listen. Promise me you will go to England and if you find that special someone you'll be happy. That's all I want Abby is for you to be happy. You're going to England to start over, promise me you'll make a conscious effort to start over and be happy, please. The next time I see you, I want to see that bright smile that I used to see. The next time I see you, I want you to tell me how happy you are and how amazing England is in a cute little accent. The next time I see you I want you to tell me all about your new memories and how good you're doing. Promise me Abby, please." I looked into his dark blue, pleading eyes. He was right. I should make a conscious effort to start over and be happy, no not should, I need to make a conscious effort.

"I promise." I said in a quiet voice.

"That's all I want is for you to be happy." He ducked down and kissed me.

It was nothing like I had ever felt before. His lips were so soft, and as they started to move with mine it seemed that they were made for each other. As I kissed him back I felt his hands run through my dark brown hair and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

It was like we were in our own little world. I no longer heard the sounds of the bustling airport, people yelling things and voices speaking over the intercoms. I only felt Danny and I.

He pulled away all too soon and I took a deep breath before laughing.

He started laughing also. "You're laughing. Is that a good thing?"

"Of course it is!" I flung my arms around his neck and he picked me off the ground, spinning me in circles.

"Now boarding flight 316 to London, England." Danny put me down and handed me my carry-on.

"See you later." He said, wrapping me in a tight hug.

"See you later."

He walked me to the gate before kissing me on the cheek and turning to leave.

Just before he rounded the same corner as Brittany had disappeared around I called out, "Danny wait!" He turned around as I began running at him.

I jumped into his arms and kissed him again, "I love you too." I said into his ear as I pulled away.

"I'll always be here for you."

"Me too."

"See you later Abby."

"See you later Danny." I smiled at him before turning around and heading towards the gate.

I handed the lady my ticket and turned to wave at Danny who was watching me at the corner. He waved back and I turned and walked through the tunnel towards the plane.

Once I was on board I found my seat, which was luckily a window seat, and put my carry-on bag between my feet, pulling out my phone.

I looked at the picture Brittany, Danny, and I took not even 20 minutes earlier. I closed my eyes as tears started falling down my face. I quickly wiped them away as the seat moved next to me. I turned my phone off and looked up to see a young boy, maybe around 11 or 12 years old, with black hair and dark brown eyes.

"Hi my name is Deron." He put his hand out in front of him and I shook it.

"My name's Abby."

"That's a cool name."

I laughed, "Thanks, so is Deron."

"Thanks!" He said enthusiastically, "So why are you going to England?"

"I'm moving there."

"Really? My family and I are just going on vacation. That's my mom and my little sister Susan." He pointed to the middle-aged women and little girl sitting across the eisle from us. "My dad is flying up on Sunday night because he couldn't get the weekend off of work."

"That's too bad." I said. I smiled and waved at Deron's mom and little sister.

"The plane will be taking off shortly, please turn off all electronic devices and buckle your seatbelts." I helped Deron buckle his seatbelt and the plane took off a couple of minutes later. Once the flight attendant gave the okay to take out our electronics and move about the plane I pulled my headphones out and plugged them into my phone turning on the shuffle for my playlist.

Within an hour Deron was asleep on my shoulder, but I didn't mind.

Letting my exhaustion overtake me, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
