Prologue/Chapter one: The merman in the river

The mermaid creature I'm basing Will off of in this story is called Adaro. Will's appearance will have a slight change due to the Adaro's appearance. They have a horn on their forehead which is like a swordfish horn, they also have gills behind their webbed ears.

I'll now explain the backstory. Lewis will be in this story along with a character named Androanzi and they're both nature spirits. They're separate types of nature spirits. Lewis's type of species is called Adhene, they Sometimes kidnap babies or wives. Androanzi's species is the same as her name which is Androanzi, the nature gods of trees and rivers. She was named after her species and was born with one eye,one arm and one leg. Lewis and Androanzi are helpers of a certain King who passed away and were told to protect and run the kingdom as long and queen. How Lewis and Androanzi met, Lewis kidnapped her and her from the forest and she couldn't do anything at the time but now, she has fallen in love with him which is something called Stockholm syndrome (which means falling in love with their kidnapper). When the King died, he also left them his pets which are called Adar Llwch Gwin, a giant birds which understand human languages and look similar to Griffins.

Androanzi's P.O.V.

I am now with Lewis flying on one of our five birds. I've been hearing of people being dragged into a river by some sort of mermaid or merman. They've described it to be having black and purple hair, a diamond symbol on its chest, webbed ears, webbed fingers and a large purple, green and black tail with a sparkly look... The most odd thing I've heard of it having is the horn of a swordfish. It is in a river which is not too far from the kingdom and it doesn't take long for the bird to arrive here. The reason we've brought the winged creature along is to help us take the creature. Lewis wanted to kill it but I told him I'd rather take it and try to understand why it's doing this and who knows? Maybe it's just misunderstood but we still must be careful. Weeks of arguing and I eventually convinced him to agree with me and we're going to take it to the castle in hopes things go the way we plan. We eventually get to the river which has a current weak enough for even a normal human to swim in. We land on the ground and hop off of the bird and look around which may be easy enough due to the creature said to have the colors of green, purple, black and not to mention a sparkling pattern on it's tail. Lewis of course has to Carr me due to me having one leg.

I notice a part of the light blue water in the river having a darker tone with my one eye and the dark tone is shaped rather snake-like and I can distinguish some sort of sparkling in the shape, there's no doubt about what it could possibly be. I can't just dive in of course. That would be one of the most idiotic things to do, especially if it really does have the horn of a swordfish. I don't even dare to put my head in the water to look around in fear of what could happen. Since I have the power to manipulate tree's and bodies of water, I trap the creature in a space of water. I form that space of water into a large bubble and carry up the mermaid or merman. The bubble rises and I see there us in fact an aquatic, serpent-like creature and even the descriptions of it are right... The colors, sparkling patterns on the tail, Diamond symbol on the chest and even that horn! It's a male too. It thrashes in the bubble but I am aware water won't be enough. As he thrashes his horn stabs around and the bubble pops. Before he falls back into the water, our trusty, winged companion thinks fast and quickly grab him like a bird catching a fish which has just jumped out of the water.

We sigh in relief as it flies to us with it's right claw holding onto it's tail as the left claw is holding onto it's horn, that's smart. It has the merman firmly in it's grasp and lands for us to ride it to which we do and plan to go to the castle. "LET ME GO!" The merman yells to my surprise. I didn't expect it would talk. Me and Lewis let out small gasps at hearing this as we fly out way to the kingdom with this overgrown fish. "That was easier than I thought." Lewis tells me and I nod remembering how I at first thought this would take at least thirty minutes to accomplish. We quickly make it there in perhaps three minutes since it's such a fast flyer. During our time at flight the merman hasn't been thrashing around, I guess it knew if we dropped him he'd splat on the ground from the height. We bring him to the balcony of the castle and drop him on the dry ground which his hot from the warm sun shining on it with not a drop of rain. "It's- it's so cold..." The merman says but why? Oh, I get it. He's so used to being in the water he gets cold once he's out of water. I wouldn't know that feeling since I can't swim.

Guards run to us holding swords and shields. "How did everything go?" One asks and I don't say a word but just nod. "We saw you coming back with that thing and we thought you needed help." The second one asks. "No." Lewis replies. The guards nod and leave but Lewis suddenly speaks up. "Oh, actually there is something I'd like for you two to help us with." I'm curious at to why he's saying this and I listen in wondering what he'll say. "I want you to take him to the fountain. He needs somewhere to swim." He tells them and their mouths part widely as they stutter and I wouldn't blame them, it doesn't sound like an enjoyable thing to do. "You have suits of armor and you could just hold him by the horn to make sure he doesn't stab at you and besides, I could get as much Guards as I want to overpower him." Lewis says as he glares at the merman to let him know who's dominant in the castle. "Maybe I could get more Guards to help you guys with him." Lewis says and they nod at the idea. He goes to find them while still carrying me. It doesn't take long and there are four Guards to help make sure things go well.

(This story is based off of a game called La Mulana. In the game there are Mythology type races. I had another idea for another story for it but the Mythical creatures were a bit boring to me. A headless humanoid, disease bringing ghost and an elk which could stand on it's hind legs. This one has 7 mythical creatures and I think they're a lot more interesting and I wanted to put more in)
