8. First Day of School
She walked out of the main office after she had gotten her schedule. She didn't want to be in school, she wasn't familiar with the territory giving her a disadvantage. It scared her a bit when she realized that she had planned escape routes and other things when she wasn't there to kill. Her first class ok but she didn't paid much attention, her second class was the same story along. She decided to take her time when she made her way to her third class. When she walked into the classroom the students looked at her.
"What's your name?" The teacher asked as she looked at the attendance sheet.
"Umm. Danny Lucker." Danny pointed to her name on the sheet.
"Call me Ms.B. You'll be working with Oliver." She pointed to a guy who seemed popular with the girls in the class. "If you have a problem just raise your hand." Danny nodded as she made her way towards Oliver. He was talking to two girls sitting in front of him.
"Are you Oliver?" She asked with a timid voice.
"Yeah. What's up?" He leaned back.
" MS.B told me to sit here."
"For fucks sake do I have to do this shit?" He asked annoyed, Danny was about to answer him when MS.B cut her off.
"You don't have to if you want to fail my class." Oliver moved his bag and made spade for Danny to sit next to him. "And I want you working with her." Oliver pulled out a packet of papers and handed them to Danny as he got up.
"Keep it, I'll get my own."
"Thanks." She whispered as she looked at all the notes he has scribbled over the pages. She didn't care about the class she was only thinking about how warm Ethan's blood felt on her hand and clothes.
"Are you ok?" Oliver asked as he watched Danny stare into her hands.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine." She answered as she grabbed her pen and started writing whatever was on the board.
"What school are you transferring from?" He asked noticing the way how she sat as if getting ready for something to happen any moment.
"I don't know." She answered as she glared at Ms.B who was approaching them from the back of the room.
"How come?" He asked as he noticed Ms.B walking towards them.
"I didn't care much." She pointed to a word of his messy notes on the packet.
"The confederates and patriots were having conflicts at that time." Oliver pretended to help Danny with the U.S History work.
"Why?" She asked confused.
"Is he helping you?" Ms.B asked Danny, who pretended to get startled.
"Yeah." She smiled as she watched her walk away. "Damn she a hot mess." Danny commented noticing Ms.B's toned body.
"Are you a lesbian?" Oliver asked surprised to heard Danny say something a guy would most likely say.
"I go both ways down the lane." Oliver laughed at her because she didn't look like she was into women especially in their mid 20s. "What?" She asked not amused.
"I thought you only liked guys?" He answered still laughing.
"And I thought you liked guys." She pointed to a phone number next to the name Zac.
"That's a friend." He shrugged.
"Then wouldn't it be on our phone instead of a paper?"
"You're an idiot."
"Thanks for the compliment. Makes one feel beautiful." She giggled.
"You and me, both, sister." He smiled at the stupid humor she had. The two of them sat in silence for what was left of the class pretending to do their work until the bell rang. The two of them had plans of leaving the school after the bell rang. As soon as the bell rang Danny was the first to get up and rushed out of the class leaving behind her sweater. The sweater was a black oversized plain hoodie. He didn't think much he took it and tried to go after her but she was already gone. If he left the sweater in the room someone would throw it away so he took it. She waited under a tree, the place they always looked around when they got separated. She had forgotten her hoodie which had her phone in it.
"I've been calling you a bunch of times." Kevin called out from inside his car.
"Left my hoodie inside, I'll get it tomorrow." She opened the door and climbed in.
"How even?" He asked.
"The room was hot so I took it off but I left my phone in it."
"If someone stole it we're buying you another one."
"Yeah, yeah." She put on her seat belt.
"Can I drive?" She asked as she felt the vibration of the motor.
"After we get the impala."
She drove Kevin's KIA into an old car dumpster yard.
"Damn. She's hot." A guy in his mid fifties catcalled the impala as Kevin was getting out.
"Ride her and you'll see she's god's perfect work." Danny didn't get out of the car because she could see the man had dark secrets.
"Who's that?" He pointed to Danny looking at them.
"Vic's daughter and owner of this beauty."
"Tell her she can trust me cause I can tell she's been trained by paranoid mercenaries and veterans. Kevin turned to look at Danny, held two fingers out and nodded. The two fingers meant peace, the nod meant everything was ok and that she could come out. She slowly opened the door and slowly got out. The man unloaded his gun and gave it to Kevin.
"Keep your knife but use it wisely." She nodded as she pulled out her gun and unloaded it.
"Don't do anything dangerous and reckless or sudden."
"Deal." The man agreed.
"Danny." She introduced herself as she held out her hand.
"Emmanuel." He shook her hand.
"Nothing dangerous, reckless nor sudden movements, eh?"
"I'm still training and right now I'm mostly aware of that." She tried to explain.
"I know the feeling, even fucked up in greatness cause of it."
"yeah. Sorry." She didn't know what to say so sorry was all she could come out with.
"Can't change the past but I can help you with your car."
