It was late at night, Duncan had no idea how he managed to convince Dana to sleep in the same bed as him, though if he were being honest, he could tell how unsure of the situation she was. He hated lying but when that thing fell on his head, he saw that to maybe get investors to invest more into the castle. If he kept pretending, he thought Dana was his wife. Even if he had to do a ceremony or something. Going to the library to try and gather his thoughts he didn't expect his best friend, Peter, to be sitting before the roaring fire in the fireplace with a drink in hand.

"How long do you think you can pull it off Duncan?" Peter asked not even looking away from the fireplace. "A month? Maybe if your lucky 6? I have no idea what made you think that this was a good idea. You obviously hit your head too hard."

Duncan groaned as he walked up to his friend and crossed his arms over his chest. He hated when Peter would give him a talk about anything that he may not agree with doing. Obviously, this had happened more than once in his lifetime.

"What are you doing here Peter? I thought you were in Hong Kong?" Duncan questioned not even bothering to try and answer his friend question.

"Hamish called me; he didn't believe a word of this. Not that I did either, so tell me what poor girls are you supposedly married to? Please tell me it ain't Holly, she was a whore that was lookin for money." Peter sighed as he looked at his friend.

"No, it's an American girl. Dana and she was well is my assistant and now I know she feels something for me. I just know it." Duncan says as he begins to pace.

"Right, and when she finds out the truth...would you prefer she burn you alive or throw you off one of the castle walls? Cause that is exactly what is going to happen Duncan. Why can't ya just be honest? Maybe she could have come to an arrangement with ya an-" Peter started but Duncan interrupted him.

"Oh? What would that be Peter? Oh please Dana, allow me to marry you even though we have known one another not even a year so that I can keep my family's castle up and running and oh by the way you also have to provide me with an heir? Who in their right mind would agree to that?" Duncan said as he leaned against the bookcase.

"Sounds better then faking a head injury you ass." A female voice spoke out from the door of the library.

"Told ya you'd get caught."

Dana walked forward in a long black silk night dress and she looked beyond pissed. Peter did not envy his best friend at all at that moment. Instead he kept silent and watched as Dana stalked her prey, Duncan looked like a deer caught in headlights.

"Dana, I know you hate me; and I know your angry, but I can't let this place die. I admit I fucked up and I need to do something quick. Please believe me I didn't want to deceive you I just I got nothin else." Duncan admitted as he ran his fingers through his hair.

Dana hated to even think about the castle being closed and fall into ruins. She loved it's history. In truth deep down she was pissed at Duncan, he had used what little emotions he knew she had for him and exploited them. However, she could also see that what he said was completely out of options. Without funding from the investors, the place was going to be closed. She hated what she was about to say and something deep down told her she would regret it, but her mouth didn't listen to her brain.

"You can't be with anyone else. I won't be humiliated again, no whores, no dates, not even friends that are girls for this moment. I want it to be for real too, you say something along the lines of you hate that you can't remember the wedding, so you want to do it again. Also; you must pay to publish my book when the castle can afford it, as for an heir...that is something that would have to be worked up to if at all. Right now, I am so angry at you Duncan I could scream but I can't let this castle die because of you and your selfish ways." Dana said as she made many hand motions some including fists before turning and walking to the door but then she turned back around. "I want a nice ring too! Not some cheap one you'd pick up from god knows where!"

With her rant over, Dana turned and left the room. Both Peter and Duncan were silent for a moment. She agreed to go with it, she wasn't going to rat Duncan out and she did have a few conditions but nothing that wasn't reachable or agreeable.

"I can't believe she went for it." Duncan whispered.

"Me either, you got lucky, I thought I'd be takin ya to the hospital for the second time this week." Peter said as he stood and went to pour himself a drink. "You gonna do it? Meet her demands?"

"Yes, of course. She is giving up a lot marrying me and helping me keep the castle going. Will she live to regret it though? I know she likes me, but she doesn't love me and that could make her regret giving up her future even for this place." Duncan said as he struggled with himself.

"Her choice, she could always divorce you if she wanted, oh do a prenup while I think of it." Peter suggested.

"For what? She would be helping keep this place running, the money would be more hers than mine because of her marrying me. Anyway, Peter first thing in the morning, I demand I want to redo our wedding." Duncan said as he walked out of the room.

"You've fallen for her my friend, and ya don't even know it." Peter said as he chugged the drink and left the library.

Duncan opened the door to his room and saw Dana was in his bed and reading, he couldn't tell what the name of the book was but he could see she had her glasses on and was focused on the book, or at least pretending to be focused on it. He tried to sneak to his side of the bed only to hear the loud sound of a book slamming shut. He turned to look at Dana as he sat on his side of the bed.

"Mad dear?" he asked trying to sound more like a joke than a true question.

"You knew; didn't you? You knew I had a crush on you and yet I had to clean up after all of those women you took in here an-" Dana started but Duncan leaned in and kissed her.

It made her freeze for a moment but then she kissed him back. Not only that, she moved to where she was now kneeling in his lap. Their kiss became hungry and wanting but Dana stopped and pulled away.

"What? What is it?" Duncan asked showing genuine concern.

"I don't want to be another woman you take to bed, I can't even compa-" she started only to have Duncan put his finger over her mouth.

"I did nothin with them, only slept I swear, they all passed out here and the furthest we got was kissin, that's all. That last time I got truly laid was almost three months before I met you and now that I say it out loud its been a while but I'm true, I did nothin with the ones you saw." Duncan explained as he caressed her cheek.

Dana wasn't sure if that was supposed to comfort her or not. It did for a small part of her. However, it only made her wonder about the women he had before she came here. Duncan put his hands on the side of her face gently and had her look him in the eyes.

"Dana? I know ya got no right to believe nor trust me, but I swear to ya, this is something I've wanted since the day I met ya. To hold ya in my arms not even expecting to go any farther than a kiss, I knew you had a crush and I feel more for ya than I have any other woman. I tried to make you jealous and that was wrong, I shoulda just been honest." Duncan confessed.

Dana nodded her head, but Duncan could see how tired she was. This was a talk for a time when she wasn't about to fall asleep in his arms. Duncan lifted her and laid her down beside him. Dana was so tired; she had been through so much and her eyes were fighting to stay awake.

"Sleep love, we've got much to do tomorrow. Weddings don't plan themselves." Duncan said kissing her forehead and turning out the light.

"Duncan..." Dana whispered.

"Yeah?"

"Don't ever lie to me again, if you do, I'll disappear, I swear." Dana said in a grimly serious tone.

"Never, I believe ya." Duncan spoke up after clearing his throat.

The next morning, Duncan was up in the hall with the investor he had met with before Greg. This was also the one who wanted Duncan to be married and have someone to carry on the family name. No doubt he had heard about the little in accident, but Duncan feared it would pull the investors away even more. Maybe this idea wasn't the best after all.

"How are you feeling today Duncan?" Greg asked as he went to Duncan and shook his hand.

"Better, we have much to discuss no doubt." Duncan said as he went to the fireplace and warmed himself by the fire.

"No rush, you need time to heal. However, I do have a question. You never told us before that you were married, in fact it sounded like you were making excuses not to get married so which is it? Are ya married or not?" Greg asked not sure he would like the answer.

Duncan was nervous and he a part of him didn't want to answer Greg not sure what would become of the future of the castle or himself. Just as he opened the door, Peter walked in with Dana right behind him and she looked like she was on a mission. Walking past Peter and right up to Duncan, she smiled kindly as she stood beside me.

"This must be her, the Mrs. that is." Greg said referring to Dana.

"I was a very well-kept secret but now that you know the truth there is no point in hiding it, right Duncan?" Dana confirmed as she kissed his cheek. "He is always afraid someone is going to steal me, I told him he didn't have to worry but Duncan is always looking out for me and the future we are building together."

"Come now Duncan, if you want us to partner with ya then ya got to be honest lad. This woman is just what we were looking for to stabilize your future. When did you get married?"

"Unfortunately, Duncan can't even remember our ceremony, I find it truly heart breaking and he's even asked me to have a new ceremony held here at the castle so he could remember it." Dana said as she took Greg's arm and began to explain what it would mean to her and Duncan to have the ceremony at the castle.

Duncan and Peter watch as Dana took over the situation as if she had been in business for years. She managed to invite Greg and the other investors to the ceremony to see for themselves how serious she and Duncan were and that the future of the castle and their money was in good hands. Greg seemed to agree with whatever Dana said making Duncan look at Peter shocked. Both men shrugged as Dana led Greg to the door where he gathered his things. Greg put his hand on and hugged Dana before waving to the two men and walking out the door.

"How did ya do that?" Duncan asked stunned.

"Easy, the faster I talked the faster I was able to convince him of the lie, however you really need to keep the others away." Dana said clearly aggravated.

"Others?" Duncan questioned.

"Holly came by and a few others, they wanted to go to a party and bring you along." Peter informed his friend.

"Oh damn, did ya tell them I didn't want them here?"

"Oh I didn't your wife did, she was very uh what's the word...diplomatic about it." Peter chuckled.

"Dare I ask what that means?"

"Never make her mad, that's all I can say my friend." Peter laughed as he walked off.

Duncan heard Dana talking to Hamish about the ceremony and how long it would take for them to prepare, he quickly went to his future/present wife and gently pulled her aside. Dana raised her eyebrow at his action.

"They didn't hurt ya did they?" Duncan asked concerned for her wellbeing.

"Nah, though I don't think they will come back anytime soon, I told them the dogs haven't been fed in a while." Dana grinned as she turned to walk away but Duncan stopped her.

"What's going on? You seemed to have changed all the sudden."

"Someone had to take control and save this place, you may have it's name but I can help you keep it's future." Dana said as she saw Peter walking their way and he had his phone held up.

"What's that?"

"A picture, these are the days we can have the wedding the investors will be able to attend."

With that Dana looked at Duncan with a smirk clearly written on her face. He took the papers in his hand and began to read them over. No matter what there wasn't much time to plan, looked as though all of the investors would be out of the country after the first of the next month.

"Well that ain't given us no time at all." Duncan sighed, "Two weeks at most, how can we get everything ready by then?"

Dana took the papers from his hand and as she read them she began to nod.

"What? Think you can do it?" Duncan asked a bit skeptical of Dana's abilities.

"Well, it's do able as long as someone stays silent. I've got work to do, you two...don't burn the place down." Dana said as she took off in the direction of Duncan's office.

"There's your bride, well in a matter or speaking." Peter said as he gripped Duncan's shoulder.

Duncan looked back to his friend and sighed, this was definitely not going to be easy with such a short amount of time. They still had to much to do including come up with a backstory. Oh! There is something Peter could help with, looking to his best friend, he hooked his arm around Peter's neck.

"We can come up with the back story then." Duncan chuckled.

"Oh I hate you sometimes Duncan." Peter replied tiredly.
