Best Freinds

After grabbing dinner, we head back to Kappa's place. We go inside. "Sup' Kaps?" I greet.

"Oh," hey Spark, "he replies, and who's this?"

"This is Grand Dad," I explain, "he needs a place to stay for the tournament. It cool of he stays here?"

"Yeah," Kappa replies, "he can just crash on the couch. Nice to meet you Grand Dad. We're preety chill here, but there's only one rule, stay out of the basement, no matter what. Got it?"

"Sure," Grand Dad replies, "I got it."

"Anyways," Kappa continues, "I'm gonna go pick up some sodas. Keep an eye on things please."

Kappa leaves. I see a mischievous look in Grand Dad's eyes, my instincts tell me he's about to make a bad choice.

"You're going to the basement aren't you?" I ask.

"Oh yeah," he replies, "definitely. He didn't say that last RESET, so he's hiding something related to the RESETs down there. Maybe he's the hitman?"

"He did move from a lower level," I reply, "being a mostly stand alone meme, so yeah, it is possible. Maybe he sent a copy to meet up with Frisk. It's worth considering."

"Then it's settled," Grand Dad smiles, "we check the basement." We head downstairs. The basement is filled with old arcade cabinets. Kappa always liked classic games. However, something seems off about one, it's the only one not plugged in. I walk over to it.

It looks normal from the front, but when I go behind it, I realize the entire back and bottom panels are removed and it's actually hiding a secret stair case.

We head down the stairway. Grand Dad looks just as confused as I do. We continue downwards, eventually reaching an odd lab. Test tubes full of an odd, thick red liquid are placed in holders, and put through a variety of different chemical processes, but they always appear unaffected.

"What is this place?" I ask.

Grand Dad sticks his pinky finger into a vial and tastes it. "Yup," he explains, "it's DETERMINATION."

"Why would Kappa have all this DETERMINATION?" I ask.

"I don't know," Grand Dad replies, "but let's keep moving."

We go deeper into the lab. I see someone in a lab coat, I try to avoid them, but they spot me. They retreat deeper into the lab. We can't get caught. We chase after the witness.

The witness approaches a phone. Grand Dad throws his club at it, destroying the phone. It's to dark to see anything in this room.

"Why are you here?" The witness asks.

"We found this place," I explain, "and it seems pretty shady to me. DETERMINATION experiments are highly illegal in all universes. Where the hell did you even get the stuff?"

"From the source," the witness explains, "guess I can't hide it from you now. Behold!"

Lights come on, revealing that all of the DETERMINATION is being fed into a broken human soul via tubes and that the witness is Dr. Alphys, a monster from Undertale.

"You've got some explaining to do!" Grand Dad demands.

"I'll just tell you what you need to know," Alphys replies, "this human soul belongs to someone who's revival is a priority of my source. We would use the dragon balls, but Flynn has them. Also, the dragon balls can't fix a broken soul. But now that youve seem this..."

Alphys starts an Undertale FIGHT...

"I can't let you leave," she continues.

Alphys blocks the way.

My soul is an odd yellow-orange color. So that's what instincts look like in essence.

Grand Dad's soul is just his head.

I use the MERCY option to spare Alphys.

Alphys does not respond. She simply says, "Frisk told me that if anyone were to enter the lab I should use these which they 'borrowed' from Sans."

Alphys attacks with Gaster Blasters. Grand Dad pushes me out of the way and takes the blow. It doesn't seem to have done much harm. "We don't have to FIGHT," I explain, "please, we just want answers. Put the Gaster Blasters down and I'm sure we can work this out."

"What did you have in mind?" Alphys asks.

"You shut this down. Frisk is planning something, don't tell me this arrangement doesn't seem off."

"Frisk has been acting odd this week," Alphys explains, "but what are you implying?"

"Not important," I lie, "just let us shut the machine down, before the cops come. After all, if Frisk is running this operation, that can't be good."

"Frisk has been acting odd," Alphys replies, "but I'm not going to let you ruin our work without reason."

I sigh, I have to say it, "Frisk has the power to RESET, they've RESET this tournament to prevent Sans's death over and over again, and last time, they killed everyone. If they want you to bring whoever this is back, then they must need this person's assistance to finish their plans. Please, for the memes, let us shut it down."

Alphys replies, "I studied DETERMINATION, I knew RESETs were possible, but... I didn't think Frisk was that DETERMINED. Go ahead, shut it down."

Alphys is sparing you.

We spare Alphys, and approach the machine, Grand Dad grabs his club and prepares to swing.

"No!" I hear Flowey's voice. He grabs the club from Grand Dad's hands.

"What are you doing?" I demand, "this is part of Frisk's plan, this soul is a threat."

"This wasn't Frisk," Flowey explains, "I made a life sized puppet of Frisk and used that. And that soul, that's my best friend!...
