Chapter 10
"Yoongi!" When the elevator doors opened, Mr. Kang was standing right outside.
"Haven't seen you in a while!" Yoongi rejoiced.
"Just got a call to investigate a homicide case," Mr. Kang stated, his tone lighthearted. Yoongi believed that after so many years on the force, it's better to keep things lighthearted. As the doors closed behind him, the older man waved like an excited kid.
Yoongi rushed into his chief's office but paused when he noticed two other people standing in front of the desk.
"Have you heard of Paradise Enterprises? What about the greeting-card company? He stated that his brother had been in Europe, but he is the CEO. Irvin has been in debt for three decades, and he couldn't afford to buy three groceries without the help of his brother's money. His lawyer was paid for by his brother. I knew there had to be more to it, so I looked into it further - Preyer's had private shipments all headed to Paradise Enterprises' abandoned warehouse in a remote area, but Paradise Enterprises had an abandoned warehouse in a remote area. According to reports, the building hasn't been used since it belonged to his brother's company," The Chief nods as he takes note of the details.
"I want the case updated in 24 hours and finalized," The officer hissed at them, his gaze fixed on the younger.
"How are you, Yoongi?"
"I'm fine, Chief."
"Do you have any other plausible leads on your cold case, Yoongi?"
"I was hitting dead ends, beating around a dead bush." The Chief sighed.
"However, I was able to locate a witness," Yoongi refutes, halting the older man in his tracks, "She described our victim down to the type of earrings he was wearing. She noticed him running behind someone as he walked past her house with an umbrella. And I'm looking for more evidence in the case."
"Wonderful work, kid," Yoongi bobs his head, sensing his Chief's gaze on him, "You should get some rest."

"I'm at the orphanage. I need to gather a few items for my project work," The message was delivered to Yoongi's voicemails.
A cold gust of wind slammed into his face as he opened the door to the balcony, making him shiver. The setting sun's slanting rays cast a warm orange hue across the sky. A small smile spread across his lips and into his eyes.
Those special memories of him he held close to his heart felt like yesterday. If only he could have him for a short time, he would be able to talk to him like they used to. Holding him closer to him and never letting him go again. Only if he stayed back, he could have saved him.
Looking down into the garden, he noticed someone standing there, staring back at him. He leaned forward, clutching the railing, to get a better look. He couldn't be wrong.
It was Jungkook.
He dashed down the stairs without pausing for a second. All he could think about was him, and he wasn't going to give up any time soon.
"Jungkook!" he called to the boy standing a few feet away. He was doing everything he could to untie himself from the duct tapes that bound him.
"Who did this to you, Kookie?" Tears welled up in both their eyes as the youngest refused to meet his gaze by staring at the building that held so many memories for them.
"Would you please help me find you?" Jimin pleaded, taking each step towards him, but Jungkook turned around and walked away.
"Please, I beg you!"
Jimin trailed behind him, taking slow steps to match his pace. The rain had been falling steadily and was only getting worse. It was getting dark. He was soaked to the skin as he walked down the desolate street. Only a single street lamp shone a dim yellow light. The street was silent and appeared to be deserted. The only sounds heard were the pitter-patter of raindrops and the rustling of the breeze, which combined to create a brilliant song of nature.
Everything was silent and still. A dusty cobweb flew off the gatepost like a piece of cotton wool floating in the damp air. The night sky was suddenly illuminated by electric flashes. The lightning screamed through the sky as loud as a thunderbolt, becoming louder and louder as it went.
Jungkook came to a halt in front of a house and vanished from his sight. The steps were worn, unpolished, and slick from the recent rain. He took a stone and threw it out at the window. Slowly, Jimin made his way inside the house, remembering to text Yoongi about his whereabouts in case he got into trouble.
A sudden piercing whistling sound broke through the silence, causing his heartbeat to drop.
"Is that you, Jungkook?"
"Someone's here, isn't it?" A low chuckle could be heard, followed by the same sorrowful tone.
"Let me guess...Jimin?"
