Chapter 18
Days passed, and everything was going fine. Arjun found himself having lunch with fellow residents when Lola couldn't help but admire his watch.
"Damn. Where did you get that watch? That's quite a piece," Lola said, examining Arjun's watch with interest.
"Shree gave it to me on my birthday. It used to be her father's," Arjun said, smiling proudly.
Everyone at the table admired the watch, impressed by its elegance and craftsmanship. "That's a hella expensive watch. Didn't know Bani Bhabhi was from a rich family," Nikhil commented.
"Her paternal family seems very affluent," Arjun replied casually, taking a sip of water.
"She is very cute," Chola chimed in between bites of Aloo Paratha. "When you leave for work, she keeps standing at the door of your room with a sad pout on her face until she can't see you in sight," he added, eliciting chuckles from the group.
Arjun couldn't help but feel happy hearing the banter about Banishree. "I need a wife as well? What's the process again, Arjun?" Nikhil teased, eliciting laughter from everyone at the table. Arjun rolled his eyes good-naturedly at the playful jab.
"So, when is bhabhi's surgery?" Lola asked, shifting the conversation to a more serious topic.
"After three weeks," Arjun replied, his expression turning slightly solemn as he thought about Banishree's upcoming surgery. Everyone at the table nodded in understanding.
As the conversation naturally drifted to other topics, they discussed the college fest scheduled for the next week, and the lively chatter continued.
It was evening when Arjun returned home, tired from a long day at work. Banishree greeted him with a glass of water, her warm smile instantly lifting his spirits.
"Aapka din kaisa tha, Doctor Babu?" she asked, her eyes full of concern. ( How was your day)
"Accha tha," he answered with a smile, grateful for her presence. ( It was fine)
"Shree, chalo shopping chalte hai," Arjun suggested, feeling like treating his wife to a little outing. ( let's go shopping)
He held the door to his brand new BMW open for Banishree, who blushed at the gesture. With a gentle smile, Arjun rounded the car and settled into the driver's seat.
"Shree, seat belt lagao," he reminded her as she hesitated. ( Put on the seat belt)
Seeing her struggle with the seat belt, Arjun leaned in, their foreheads touching as he swiftly helped her fasten the seat belt and dropped a kiss on her temple. Banishree blushed deep red at the close proximity, feeling a flutter in her heart at his tender gesture.
With the seat belt securely fastened, Arjun ignited the engine and they drove off, leaving behind the worries of the day.
Banishree was staring at the mall intently, marveling at the sights around her. It was her first time visiting a mall, and Arjun couldn't help but notice the big smile on her face. He couldn't resist capturing the moment, clicking pictures of her as she smiled without her knowledge. She was a beauty to watch, and Arjun couldn't help but feel grateful to be by her side.
As they wandered around, Arjun treated Banishree to a variety of foods, from momos and noodles to pizzas and coke. Banishree's eyes widened with excitement at the array of delicious treats before her.
"Ye mall kitna bada hai, Doctor Babu," she exclaimed, her wonder evident in her voice as she slipped on the coke.
They found a cosy spot in the food court to sit and enjoy their meal together. "Hmm. Aur kuch khana hai, Shree?" Arjun asked, offering her more food.
She shook her head, patting her tummy contentedly. "Nahi, humara pet bhar gaya," she said with a satisfied smile.
Arjun chuckled, feeling a sense of joy and contentment.
They were browsing through the clothing section, and Banishree was looking at the racks of clothes with curiosity. "Doctor Babu, ee sab kapda itna mehnga kaahe hai?" (Doctor Babu, why are these clothes so expensive?) she said, pouting at the price tags.
"Don't check the price tags, Shree. Pick whichever you need and want," Arjun replied, his tone gentle and reassuring. He was busy finding a dress that would be beautiful enough for his beautiful wife.
She smiled at him, her eyes filled with admiration. "Kya matlab humare pati bahut paise wale hai?" (Does it mean my husband is very wealthy?) she asked with dreamy eyes.
Arjun chuckled, finding her innocence endearing. "Kuch aisa hi samajh lo," (You can think of it that way) he said, trying to keep things light.
Excited, Banishree quickly pulled out some kurtis and dragged Arjun with her to the trial room. As she tried on each kurti, she would show it to him, seeking his opinion.
Wearing a turquoise ankle-length kurti, she twirled inside the trial room and asked, "Doctor Babu, hum kaise lag rahe hai?" (How do I look?)
"Stunning, Shree," Arjun replied, standing outside the trial room, admiring her. However, their intimate moment was interrupted when a lady waiting outside the room made a rude comment to her companion.
"What an idiot. Has to show every damn thing she wears to her boyfriend. Hurry up, we can't stand here to witness your stupidity the whole day," the lady said irritably.
Arjun was about to respond angrily when Banishree, with a hint of haughtiness, retorted, "Aapke paas boyfriend hai nahi toh aap kisko dikhayegi, madam. Aur aise hi bol chal rahi toh boyfriend milega bhi nahi," (If you don't have a boyfriend, who will you show, madam? And if you keep talking like this, you won't find one either) Banishree said, making others chuckle.
"Aur aapke jankari ke liye, ye hamare Pati hai. Samjhi," (And for your information, this is my husband. Understand?) she added proudly, pointing at her Orange sindoor filled hair partition and nuptial chain.
"Doctor Babu, humko aur chaar tho kurti laake dijiye toh," (Doctor Babu, get me four more kurtis, please) Banishree purposefully said, determined to make those two ladies wait a little longer. And she tried on each of the four kurtis, relishing in making the women wait.
Arjun couldn't help but be amused at his wife's haughtiness. "Damn, that sass looks hot on her," he thought to himself, a smile playing on his lips.
As they walked hand in hand, Arjun's eyes landed on a beautiful red casual gown displayed in a nearby store. He knew Banishree would look stunning in it, and he wanted to surprise her.
"Banishree, tum idhar ruko. I will come in a while," he said, handing her 2000 rupees. "Dekho woh raha ice cream shop. Have some if you want," he added before leaving. (There's the Ice cream shop)
Banishree nodded with a smile, feeling grateful for her thoughtful husband as she watched him disappear into the store. She then turned towards the ice cream shop, debating whether to indulge in a sweet treat while she waited.
Arjun selected the beautiful red casual gown for Banishree, imagining how stunning she would look in it. As he approached the counter to make the purchase, the shop attendant asked, "Sir, would you like lingerie for the outfit? The outfit requires a special kind of undergarment."
Arjun felt his cheeks flush with embarrassment at the unexpected question. "Um... would you like to buy them, sir?" the attendant pressed.
Arjun took a moment to compose himself before responding, "Please guide me." He appreciated the offer of assistance, grateful for the shop attendant's professionalism.
The shop attendant pulled out boxes of lingerie, presenting Arjun with various options. "Here, sir, this one is an INVISI PADDED UNDERWIRED FULL CUP STRAPLESS BALCONETTE BRA in wine red WITH TRANSPARENT STRAPS & BAND - LACE. It would be perfect for the semi-backless dress you have bought," she explained, displaying the bra.
Arjun felt his face flush even more as he listened to the description, feeling a mix of embarrassment and awkwardness. He couldn't help but wonder if his mother had ever felt embarrassed buying him vests and boxers in the past.
He walked out of the store with the dress and lingerie in hand, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment from the encounter with the shop attendant. As he scanned the mall for Banishree, he spotted her sitting on a bench under an artificial palm tree, enjoying an ice cream and looking as cute as ever.
"Arey, Doctor Babu, aap laal tamatar kaahe lag rahe hai?" Banishree asked curiously, noticing the flush on Arjun's face. Then, her expression turned to anger as she added, "Koi aapko ched chad kiya kya?" (Why are you blushing? Did someone bother you?)
Arjun couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction, finding her protective nature endearing as always. He walked over to her, feeling lucky to have such a caring and loving wife by his side.
