Thomas ; Monotone
A/N: just to clear up any future confusion, 'she' in the beginning is not you aka the reader!! I guess this could be a soulmate au.
Her smiles were like the warmth of the sun and while the dark haired male enjoyed basking in that warmth, he was aware that even summer had its cloudy days.
He pretended to be ignorant to the near approaching day when he'd have to leave her.
To him, she was his whole world, she was the only person who gave him a chance and believed in him when no body else would. She listened to him speak his worries and calmed him down when his anger almost got the better of him.
He remembers the day they met, still a vivid memory in his mind. He remembers the colour being brought into his life for the first time.
But he also remembers the day she betrayed him and ran away with another.
He's been walking in a monochrome world since.
"Did you stay up all night playing video games again?" His blond haired friend snaps him back into present day and Thomas' eyes widen with regret.
"Don't tell me you were thinking about her?!"
Thomas' silence only confirms Newt's suspicions. The brown haired boy looks away, not wanting to face the pitiful looks his friends were giving him.
Even after all this time, when it comes to this day, he still acts like this...
"Thomas..." The blond haired male sighs at the sight of his melancholy friend, wishing he could do something to ease the pain but after three years, Newt felt like the only person in the world who could fix Thomas was the same person who had broken him. However, there was no way Newt would let that her back into Thomas' life.
"Just for today, let me be like this" Thomas pleads, a distant look in his eyes. Newt almost gives in and is about to grant his friend's wish when the eldest of their group steps in.
"Absolutely not!" Minho raises his voice in an unusually angered manner.
"Minho-" Newt places a hand on Minho's shoulder to try and stop him but is shaken off.
"Don't, he needs to hear this" with an unyielding look in his eyes, Minho roughly grabs Thomas by the shoulders, forcing him to look straight into his eyes. The others in the room stare silently at the scene in front of them.
"She left you three years ago man! Why can't you understand that she doesn't love you anymore! She never did!" Minho voice is laced with so much anger as he attempts to shout some sense into his friend.
"N- now, Minho that's enough" Newt awkwardly tries to intervene once again but fails.
"She never loved you. She only used you for her own needs. She's selfish and doesn't deserve your feelings! For f**k's sake she even tried to flirt with the rest of us!"
"It's true, Thomas."
"Wait! Thomas-"
"Thomas!"
"Shit..."
With tears streaming down his pale cheeks, the dark haired boy runs out of the room, pushing over anything and anyone that stood in his way.
No...no she wouldn't....she didn't!
"She tried to make a move on all of us, you shouldn't blame yourself. She was always a terrible person with the blackest of hearts"
Thomas continues to run through the crowded street, his tear impaired vision blurs even more as rain begins to heavily pour down, drenching the black and white world around him.
He doesn't stop and only continues to run further and further away until he comes to a familiar apartment complex. It's modern exterior is one Thomas frequently used to see.
He's drenched from head to toe now, his thin shirt leaves his upper body vulnerable to the icy cold droplets of violent rain but doesn't make any attempt to find shelter.
"I told you it was going to rain! We should go another day" Thomas head snaps to the entrance of the building where his vision lands on two figures stood closely beside each other. The tall man has his arm circled around his partner's waist.
Upon recognising the woman in the man's arms, Thomas' eyes widen in panic and he moves to hide himself from their view.
"But darling, you promised~" the sweet sound of the woman's voice triggers the series of locked memories to replay in Thomas' mind. He desperately watches as the man sighs but nods and the beautiful woman plants a sweet kiss on her lover's lips.
Unable to bear the pain any longer, Thomas turns away and slides to the ground with his back against the building wall.
Leaning his head against the wall, exhausted both emotionally and physically, Thomas just shuts his eyes and allows the rain to pelt down on his trembling figure.
Thomas believes he's fallen asleep and by the time he wakes up the sun had come out and the rain had stopped. But he's quickly proven wrong when he continues to hear the rain hitting the earth.
His eyelids slowly open and his eyes land on your figure, crouching down in front of him with an umbrella in your hand. Thomas looks up to see that it was your very umbrella shielding him from the rain.
"Are you okay?" Your voice is gentle and soft and laced with genuine concern, gradually calming Thomas frantic state. When his eyes meet yours, his breath becomes caught in his throat and he momentarily forgets where he is or why he's there in the first place.
All of a sudden, he notices that your umbrella's a bright red colour, so are your heels and your lips have a subtle tint of pink which match the blush on your cheeks. Your dress is navy blue and your coat is beige. All of a sudden, he's noticing colour.
Surprised and confused about what this could mean, Thomas remains silent but shakes his head.
"Well, If you stay in the rain any longer, you'll get sick." You frown, noticing the male's lack of warm clothing.
"What's your name?" Thomas' voice is rough and he quickly apologises for his straightforwardness.
"It's okay. My name's (y/n), (l/n) (f/n)" you reply with a warm smile and hold out your hand for him to take. Your smile captivates Thomas and an surge of warmth spreads from his chest to all around his body.
You extend your arm and Thomas hesitates to take your hand but your unfaltering smile and the gentleness in your eyes reassures the male that everything will be alright. Better than before.
When you take his icy cold hand in yours, Thomas worries he'd melt then and there but was glad as he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He somehow knew, deep down inside of him, that you were the one who'd fix him and he couldn't help but smile at the thought of the cogs of fate finally turning in the right direction.
