Royalty ; AU

A/N: something different. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue it but it was fun to write. Maybe I'll write a different kind of royalty AU because those are always fun.

WICKED manor, where the wealthy gather at the end of every week to celebrate. Celebrate what? Their wealth and themselves. Owned by one of the richest families in the country, the manor held gatherings of all kinds, including parties and auctions of the finest items the country had to offer.

Tonight, a large number of guests are expected to attend and with a diamond worth a significantly larger sum is to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. A beautiful blue diamond that once belonged to a royal family but that's ancient history. Tonight, it's yours...or it will be yours. You'll do what you do best: steal.

You've already managed to walk through the excessively large front doors and the glances shooting your way were not of suspicion or questioning, they were of awe.

It isn't very often that you wore a dress or tried to stand out for that matter. Your whole life revolved around staying in the shadows and your job required you to wear apparel easy to manoeuvre around in. Tonight was different. Donned in a royal blue dress and a smirk on your lips, you pass all the flirty gazes and green-eyed glares thrown your way.

You had stolen the dress many years ago, right off of the previous owner's back and to be wearing it tonight made your heart leap with excitement.

You sit at an empty table at the very front of the room where the auction is soon to start, admiring the custom made Italian table cloths probably worth more than your dress and shoes combined.

"This would look great with that table from last week" you mutter the joke under your breath. A waiter walks past your table and you swiftly pinch a glass off of his tray.

Looking around the room, you notice that all the tables were finally all filled. Your eyes land on a beautiful mature woman with platinum blond hair and an icy stare. She holds her own glass up to her lips and you notice from her hands that she's probably a lot older than you first realize. Her eyes meet yours and you quickly look away.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you all as we begin our evening with this lovely little piece" the auctioneer's loud voice booms throughout the large room and murmurs arise as he gestures to the tiara encased in a glass box on the pedestal.

"This once belonged to the princess who lived here, right in this building"

A sudden chill runs down your spine and you sit up straight, suddenly alert.  You're not sure why but you know that something doesn't feel right. After years of doing what you do, it has become instinctual of you to sense danger before it occurs. Was the diamond actually worth your life?

You rise to your feet and move to the edge of the great room with no one noticing you. It takes only a moment before you're already back at the entrance. You try to pull open the doors but they're locked from the outside. This doesn't cause you to worry, you'd been in plenty of similar situations so you manage to stay calm, until the room goes dark.

You hear gasps but no screams or anyone moving around the room.

"It's alright, ladies and gentlemen." Is all the auctioneer says before the lights turn back on.

"What the fu-" no longer in the huge opulent room you were in just a second ago, you're surrounded by sunlight so bright you instinctively raise your arm to shield your arms. You're eyes take a moment to adjust and you realise you're standing in a stone courtyard with walls in every direction you turn. You're still in the royal blue gown but it no longer gives you the excitement and adrenaline you had felt before. Instead, you feel dull.

"Princess (y/n)?" a voice calls for you and you turn around at your name.

Dressed in some kind of formal attire, stands a handsome young man-

"T- Thomas?!"

He looks at you confused, "yes, princess?"

"Why are you here?!"

"It's my duty to accompany you" he sends you a concerned look, "perhaps you've been out in the sun for too long." He takes something out of his pocket, one of those pocket watches like the one the white rabbit from wonderland had.

Suddenly you feel dizzy and you have to steady yourself from tumbling over. Thomas notices this and rushes to your side.

"Princess (y/n), what is the matter?!"

"Argh...what was in those drinks?" your eyes flutter shut and you feel your legs weaken, falling into Thomas' arms and the last thing you feel before you black out is the sun's warmth on your bare skin.
