Ch.20
Picking up her book went over to the lounge area and took a seat. From here she could see the whole town. But right now it was still early so no one was walking around. If she wanted she could probably escape from the balcony and run. The only reason she wanted to stay was that she needed more time to see if Grant was alive. She couldn't leave and risk the chance of leaving him here. Clay had not been feeding off of her so he was getting blood from somewhere. She could only assume that it was from Grant.
Since she had gotten here he didn't leave the house and no one came over. She assumed it was because he was so possessive of her and didn't want anyone in their territory. Taking out a pen she wrote in between her the lines of what had occurred. In hopes that if she died here someone would deliver it to her mother. After she had written the events of the day so far she tucked the book behind the couch.
"Babygirl..." Clay called from behind the door.
"... What?" she answered her reply short, she needed to lay on the attitude thick.
"I cooked you up some lunch you need to eat since you don't eat breakfast this morning," he replied, still not entering the room."I have it right here okay? I'm going to come in," he said while carrying in a tray with a steaming plate of food and a can of soda.
Clay looked like he had run his finger through his hair repeatedly in frustration and he still had dried red smudges on his cheeks. Setting the tray down in front of her she looked over what he had prepared. It of course looked delicious. It was baked chicken with creamy mashed potatoes and a side of corn. He even included a large slice of lemon cake. Her stomach now decided it was time to make itself present. Picking up her fork she went for the cake first just to be defiant.
"Ah, ah sweetheart, Food first than sweets." he chuckled and grabbed the fork from her grabbing a butter knife and slicing the chicken into sections and bringing a piece to her lips.
Turning her face away she scooted over and grabbed the fork herself and fed herself. She could see the frown on his face.
"Please... don't be angry with me, I know that you have an attachment to your mother and I shouldn't try to take it away from you."
"So, you'll allow me to call her?" she asked
"Phone signals aren't going to work here-"
"If you're going to make up a lie I don't want to hear it." she interrupted him
"I'm not Corania, I had a Witch do so years ago once the contraption was created. It became an issue when collecting my food," he said like it was a normal conversation.
"Oh... so how will I contact my mother?" she questioned.
"I know that you have been restless because you miss your mother. And I can't help it how i display my claim over you. I know its selfish of me especially when it's your mother. It is just that I am also restless."
Corania saw how his eyes strayed to her neck.
"But it is no excuse, especially when i Promised to make you happy here. You can either write a letter to your mother or we can travel outside the barrier until the phone you brought with you has a signal. I will also contact a witch and have her enchant your cellphone so you will be able to contact her when you like." he answered
"When can we go?" she asked she didn't want to write a letter she wanted to hear her mother's voice."
"The sun is still high in the sky we will go tonight," he said.
Corania knew that this was the time that she showed her gratitude to him for allowing her to talk with her mother. Standing up she walked over and placed herself on his lap and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
"Thank you for doing this for me, it means so much," she said against his neck. Tilting her head up and placing a slow kiss on his neck, Clay shifted and gripped her backside tighter.
He lifted his neck a tad as she kissed more. A pleased rumble emitting from his chest. Reaching his cheek she kissed it and pulled away. Looking into her eyes he reached up and caressed her cheek tilting her head and placing his lips against her. Kissing her until she was gasping for breath. Placing her hands on his chest to steady her rapidly beating heart.Corania hopped that the kiss was enough to satisfy him since she knew that if she threw herself at him then he would be suspicious. Baby steps and all that, she had to be smart. And so far things were going in her favor.
"Okay Princess eat something since you didn't eat any breakfast." Clay said and brought the tray over to them so she could eat. Soon she would be able to speak with her mother.
A/N: Thank you for reading and what do you think is going to happen next? will Clay keep his promise?
