IMPORTANT DISCUSSION

Shadow and Mephiles sat down on the floor, their meals were prepared on the sitting table and they were given cuttlery by Annie. They ended up not using it because they were literally eating thawed raw meat, they just have to use their hands.

"So how was it with you and Silver?" Shadow asked.

"It's cool...we connected real quick, I think I'm gonna love him as my mate." Mephiles replied. "How about you?"

"Me too, Sonic is really cute and I love him already." Shadow chuckled with a small blush on his cheeks. "Looks like our decision to come here is good afterall."

"Yeah, I think Maria will be happy about us." The other said.

"But..." Shadow trailed off, "you know, there's something that just popped up in my mind." He said in a worried tone.

"What is it?"

"If we get our mate's approval and we can breed them...do we leave after that?"

The twins stopped eating and stared at each other for a few seconds, the question was almost as surprising as when they first learned about Sonic and Silver.

Mephiles looked away for a moment, "I didn't think of that..." he sighed.

"Annie said she'd return us to Maria if we finish our business, so we just leave them if they're possibly laying eggs?" Shadow questioned.

"Do you really think she'd send us home and let Sonic and Silver care for the eggs alone?"

"Honestly I can't think of anyone kinder than Maria...and Roy, so I think Annie would do that." Shadow said truthfully.

"Oh you're right." Mephiles sighed. "I just hope we're wrong, though. I really wanna stay until the egg hatch."

"And then what happens after that? We leave our child?" The other raised his brow.

"Shadow!"

"I'm just wondering!"

They both sat in silence. Shadow took a deep breath to calm himself, Mephiles did the same. They knew they shouldn't argue, Maria would be upset.

"Do you think we should ask Annie about all this?"

"We should, but I think it's too early...we can ask her when we finished mating." Shadow said and Mephiled nodded in agreement.

On the floor above them, Silver and Sonic were also having lunch. Not raw meat of course, because Annie never fed them that since they were children.

"I think we should start mating tonight!" Sonic claimed and made Silver choke on his food.

The albino hedgehog coughed a few times before carefully drinking warm water from his cup.

"Don't you agree? I can't wait anymore, I love Shadow so much even though he's such a jerk to me." The blue one squealed in excitement.

"S-Sonic...I think that's too fast. Why not in 2 days or next week?" Silver suggested.

"That's too long, I think I'm going to mate with Shadow tonight." Sonic crossed his arms, "I mean, if you wanna wait then I won't stop you, but I'm mating tonight."

"Does he really meet all your standards already?"

"Come on, Silver, it's obvious. He's tall, he got muscles, his horns are bigger, his voice is deeper, he's a charmer!" Sonic said while pointing each one with his fingers. "And they're twins! Mephiles has those qualities too!"

Silver lowered his ears and he blushed, "you're right...but I don't know if I'm ready."

"And I said it's up to you, Mephiles is yours." Sonic chuckled. "I'm sticking with mine, so I'm mating tonight."

Silver still didn't feel too confident about the idea. Sure, the twins were one of their species and they're technically an endangered one, so it was probably a good idea to mate faster. He was just worried if they didn't judge them enough for them to be their proper mate for mating. Since they're endangered, they have to think about it carefully.

"Silver!"

"H- wha?"

"Snap out of it, you're lost in your thought for a moment there." Sonic smiled worryingly, "relax, okay?"

The albino hedgehog looked into his plate and sighed, "okay..." he mumbled.

They finished their meal a few minutes later and they put their empty plates back on the tray. Sonic decided to take a nap in his room while Silver read a book to spend the time. He wanted to distract his mind for a while.

Annie came in an hour to take back the tray, Silver noticed her and quickly went to approach her.

"Annie!"

"Hm?" The caretaker had her attention caught by the small hedgehog. "Oh, I thought you're taking a nap like Sonic."

"No, I don't feel that sleepy..." Silver mumbled, "anyway...are we expected to mate so soon?"

"Hey, you two were the ones who wanted me to bring you a mate." Annie pointed. "I only gave you what you want, remember? So now it's up to you to do whatever you want with your mate." She stated.

"So we're not rushed?"

Annie looked away for a moment to think, then she stared at Silver again.

"Yes, take all the time you need." She smiled.

"Oh that makes me feel a little relieved...I thought you want us to mate as soon as possible." Silver chuckled nervously.

"Well I mean, that would be nice too." Annie said as she took the tray, "but do whatever makes you feel happy, okay?" She smiled and Silver nodded his head.

"Alright, have a great day then." Annie said before exiting the room.

Silver turned around to return to his room, but he stopped when he saw Sonic appeared near the door of his room. It seemd that he just woke up. He stared at Silver sleepily and yawned.

"Did Annie just come here?" He asked.

"Yeah, she just came to take the lunch tray." Silver said.

"Oh...uh, are we getting our blood extracted today?"

"I don't think so because she didn't say anything about that." Silver shrugged.

"Oh..." Sonic said lazily, "guess I'm heading back to sleep."

"You're suddenly so lazy today." The albino one chuckled.

"Shut up! I'm so tired for some reason." The blue hedgehog groaned and turned himself around so he could go back to his bed.

Silver giggled at his friend before he also went to his room, he took the book from his own bed and continued reading.
