THE JUMP TO SAFETY

Shadow was still held at gunpoint from Annie, so was his brother and their mates on the other side of the room. He really wanted to move over to where they are but he couldn't risk his injured brother to get shot again. He knew Mephiles would turn himself as a shield for their mates if the guards started firing at them. He's a great weapon, but not invincible.

"Take Sonic and Silver." Annie commanded.

Shadow raised his quills angrily and in disbelief that she dared to say that in front of him. He saw the guards approaching closer to where the mates were and he growled.

"Annie! I thought you're done with them!"

"I need them to nurse their eggs." She replied sternly. It only boiled up Shadow's anger more.

The guards got closer and as expected, Mephiles got up and turned himself into a shield that covered Sonic and Silver. The guards started firing at him.

"Mephiles!" He screamed for his brother.

"Hey." Annie clicked her gun when Shadow tried to move. "Take a step and I'll pull the trigger." She threatened.

Shadow was frustrated. He had to act fast or else Annie will succeed in taking Sonic and Silver again. He might also lose Mephiles and his own life. If only they didn't have their weapons, he would've easily taken all the humans down.

He suddenly realized something and had an idea in mind. He didn't know if it would work but it was worth a shot. In that situation, it was better than nothing.

"FLEETWAY!"

Annie didn't understand what Shadow just screamed out, then she gasped when something fast and glowing flew in through the hole in the wall. The light toned down and everyone was shocked to see another couple of Cross Hedgehogs standing in the room.

"You okay, love?"

"Oh...I can never get used to that." Scourge whimpered and got down from Fleetway's arms.

Everyone was still stunned and they kept staring at the new hedgehogs.

"Alright!" Fleetway clapped his hands. "Nice to see you again, Shadow. So...how can we help?" He smiled.

"Wh- how is- I thought there were none in the species left?!" Annie questioned.

"Boohoo you thought wrong." Fleetway mocked and fold his legs on the air as if he was sitting.

"Fleetway, I need to get my brother and our mates out of here. Can you take all the guards and their weapons down?" Shadow requested.

"Oh, every human in this room is the enemy? Nice." Fleetway chuckled and stretched his hands, "that makes it easier for me." He smiled.

"Get him!" Annie commanded and all the guards suddenly started firing their guns at the golden hedgehog.

Fleetway surprisingly caught all the bullets like it was nothing. He threw the bullets to the ground and dust his hands. "Is that all?" He smirked.

He started to flew toward the guards and attacked them all at once, some of them tried to fight back. Shadow took adventage of the distraction and quickly made his way to Mephiles, he was still shielding their mates.

"Meph! Mephiles, you can stop now! Fleetway came to help!" Shadow called his brother out.

Mephiles regained his form and most of the bullets were shown to hit his body, mostly his back. He managed to avoid some bullets but some still hit him.

Sonic and Silver could finally see what happened and they were shocked to see Mephiles' condition.

"Mephiles!" Silver cried and went on his knees. "Mephiles! No!"

"He needs to heal, that's why we need to get out of here." Shadow said as calmly as he could. He picked his brother up on his arms. "Can you guys jump down from here?"

Sonic picked Silver up and they both stared at him confusingly.

"You mean...from this floor...?" Sonic asked and Shadow nodded.

"Shadow, we're not that strong. We'll injure ourself." The blue hedgehog admitted with a frown. "Plus...we really don't have that much energy...we didn't eat anything since yesterday."

Shadow began to stress out again. He tried to think of a way to bring them all at once but he couldn't figure out how.

"I can jump down, let me carry those two." Scourge walked pass him.

Sonic and Silver widen their eyes and stepped back when Scourge approached them.

"It's okay, he's on our side. Scourge is a non-Dominant Cross Hedgehog, like you." Shadow smiled. "But...Scourge, are you sure you can jump down while carrying them? I don't want Fleetway to-"

"It's fine, trust me. I'm not the one being locked up my whole life in a room." Scourge said and effortlessly carried Sonic and Silver on his shoulders.

"Whoa! Oh hey you're so cool! Nice to meet you, Scourge!" Sonic squealed.

"No I'm scared!" Silver whined while covering his face in fear.

"Fleet! I'm jumping down to get them to safety!" Scourge yelled out to his mate who was busy fighting the guards.

"Okay! Be careful!" Fleetway replied.

"NO!" Annie screamed but she was too late to catch them. She witnessed Shadow and Scourge jumping down from the hole with her two hedgehogs.

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!" Silver screeched.

"OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO COOL! YYYEEEAAAAA!" Sonic squealed, again.

Scourge could only chuckle at their different reactions. He found it to be adorable.

Once they all landed to the ground, they quickly made their way to hide in the forest. Shadow put Mephiles down and took care of wounds. Scourge also placed Sonic and Silver down carefully.

"Your strength is amazing!" Sonic cheered while Silver was still trembling and holding on to his arm.

"Thank you." Scourge smiled. He then turned to see Shadow. "Hey, do we still have to save anyone else in there?"

"There are two humans inside, they're rescuing Sonic's and Silver's eggs." Shadow explained. "I'll take you there, just let me patch Mephiles up for a sec-" he stared at Scourge and was surprised when he saw him blushing.

"You...you both have eggs?" He asked in disbelief.

"Yeah..." Shadow replied.

Scourge smiled and closed his eyes while nodding his head approvingly, "okay, I'll make sure to help you rescue them."

Shadow didn't know why but he felt so safe with him. Him and his mate has proven to be helpful and provide safety to their species.

"Okay, let's rescue them." Shadow stood up.
