BLATANT ARRIVAL

That afternoon back at the facility, Sonic and Silver have been staying in bed for the whole day without food or water. They didn't even have the feeling to go to the bathroom. It felt like their body just shut itself down.

Silver was curling up on Sonic's chest while Sonic held him close, they were both under the blanket. Without their normal senses they could only feel how cold it was in the room.

Sonic's ear perked when he heard the door opened, he moved his head and saw Annie with the eggs on her arms.

"Sonic, Silver...here." She approached them and kneeled down. "They need your warmth."

Seeing the egg, all Sonic could think about was Shadow.

"No..." he laid his head back to the pillow, "I don't want it..." he said with a weak voice.

"Wh...what about Silver?" Annie asked concerningly.

"He's been sleeping all day...don't bother him." Sonic said in a little annoyed tone. "Go away, Annie."

Annie carefully placed the eggs on the cushion. She got up and put her hand on the blanket, but Sonic quickly slapped her hand away and he raised his spikes.

"Don't." He glared.

The caretaker pulled her hand back and still looked so concerned for them. "Hey...what about your meals? You two haven't eaten anything in so long."

"We don't want anything. Take the eggs and get out."

"But-"

"Please."

Annie stopped talking when she saw the small tears pouring from the hedgehog's eyes.

"Don't show us the eggs...please, just leave us alone..."he cried and hugged Silver tightly.

Annie knew what she did was bad, but she didn't realize it was going to be that bad. Seeing the two hedgehogs looked so helpless and weak reminded her again when the first time she found them in the forest.

They're clearly deppressed from the heartbreak of thinking that their mates left them after mating.

Annie took the whole cushion and decided to leave the room. She entered the elevator. She then stared at the eggs while waiting for the elevator to stop.

"What have I done..." she mumbled to herself.

The elevator stopped and the door opened. She went back to her private laboratory and placed down the cushion near her desk. As she reached for something on the shelf, the building suddenly rumbled and she heard a distant explosion.

"What the-"

"Miss!" Her fellow scientist barged through the door, "someone broke into the top floor!"

"What?!"

Annie took the gun from her desk and dashed out of the door to head to the emergency stairs.

Meanwhile, at the top floor.

Sonic and Silver were startled from the explosion on the wall. The two jumped from the bed and stood in the corner of the room.

"S-Sonic-"

"Shh, get behind me."

Once the smoke was clear and the ringing sound in their ears were gone, they could finally hear the calls coming from the living room.

"Sonic! Silver!"

Their eyes widen in shock. The familiar figures that entered their room were their mates.

"Sonic!" Shadow ran to his mate and hugged him tightly, Sonic didn't hug back because he was still so shocked.

"Sonic, I'm so happy to finally see you again! I missed you so much!"

The poor blue hedgehog's hands trembled and he slowly hugged him back, for a second he thought he was in a dream.

"Sh-Shadow..." he cried.

Mephiles also ran to his mate and gave him a tight embrace. Silver immediately hugged back because he thought he was going to fall to the ground. The lack of meals made him almost too weak to stand.

"Silver, I missed you!"

The albino hedgehog started crying and tried as best as he could to wrap his arms tightly around his mate.

"M-Mephiles...I thought you left!"

"Annie tricked all of us. She sent us home without us knowing." Mephiles explained while gently stroking the long white quills.

"What?" Sonic pulled himself away after hearing what Mephiles said, "Shadow...is that true?"

"Yes, Annie's been tricking you." He  said, "and we're here to take you and the eggs back." He smiled.

Sonic's pupils shrunk, "th-the eggs...we've been neglecting the eggs..." he stuttered. "Sh- Shadow I'm so sorry. We- we didn't kn-"

"It's okay, it's okay." Shadow assured his mate and held his hands, "we're gonna save the eggs too."

"You're going to leave this place and come with us." Mephiles smiled under his mask, "then we won't have to be separated again."

"How did you even get here...?" Silver asked.

"We-"

"Don't move!" They all froze when they heard Annie from the door. They were shocked when they saw that she had brought a weapon.

"Leave them alone. Right now." Annie threatened.

Shadow and Mephiles glared at the human, raising their spikes and readied their claws.

"Sonic, Silver, get back here." Annie commanded.

"No." Sonic immediately answered and surprised her.

"What?"

"They said you sent them home. You sent them away from us! You broke our deal!" Sonic screamed angrily with all the energy that he had left. "Why did you do that?!"

"That doesn't matter! Just get behind me!" Annie shouted.

"We're not gonna do that! You lied to us!" The blue hedgehog screamed and pulled Silver to him.

"You heard him, they're not your pets anymore." Shadow scoffed at the caretaker.

"You two are so stupid! I told you their blood is the only key to make your caretaker's medicine! What will you do without me, huh?!" Annie snapped.

"Oh, we already discussed that with Dani before we came here. He said he'd help us with that." Shadow smirked and shocked Annie.

"D...Dani...?"

While the tension rose between them, a bunch of armed guards suddenly arrived at the scene. Finally backing up the only human in the room. Though, Annie was still stunned with the fact that Dani was going against her and decided to help Shadow and Mephiles.

The twins were slowly moving backward to the corner, shielding their mates from the gunpoints surrounding them.

"Annie..."

She flinched when she heard Silver's gentle voice calling for her.

"Are you going to kill us?" The albino hedgehog asked in a sad tone.

She stared at the gun in her hand and all the others around her that tried to "protect" her from the Cross Hedgehogs.

"She's a fake caretaker, Silver." Mephiles said, "she only used you for your blood."

"Wh- no, that's not-"

"THEN WHAT?!" Shadow yelled at her. "What do you use them for?! Why do you lock them in this place?! And where is our egg?!" He questioned in rage.

"You wouldn't understand! I still care and love them and I'm stressed that you're trying to take them away from me!" Annie finally spoke out.

"You're a fucking liar! You're not stressed because you love them! You're stressed because they won't give you their blood!"

"Okay enough!" The caretaker...or rather, the scientist, snapped and shot her gun to the ceiling.

Sonic covered Silver's ears while he also lowered his ears down. Shadow and Mephiles knew she was not their caretaker anymore.

"I cared for those two like they're my own children, I even fulfilled their needs and get them whatever they want...but getting them mates like you was a mistake." She said as she threw the gun away in frustration. "I shouldn't have brought you two here."

Sonic and Silver felt so shocked when Annie told them that. It was as if this whole thing was happening because of them. And they felt so betrayed.

"So are you deciding to kill all of us now?" Shadow raised his brow.

"Perhaps." Annie said and the hedgehogs perked their ears up at the sound of the guns loading from the guards. "I'll take good care of the eggs as your replacement."

Before she could give the signal to fire, Mephiles swifted their feet using his hand like a whip and made them all fall to the ground. He then trapped them to prevent them from getting back up.

Shadow approached the hole on the wall and screamed below, "Dani! Roy! Get in!"

"What?!" Annie shouted.

Dani and Roy had been waiting for Shadow's signal from outside. They finally got inside through the main entrance with a weapon of their own. They had to be quick and get to the eggs as quickly as they could before Annie made another move.

"Where do you think she stored it?" Roy asked.

"Her private lab, it's on the third floor." Dani said as they run up the stairs instead of taking the elevator, which was obvious.

They encountered a few other scientists who tried to stop them on the way, but they easily fought them off.

They reached the third floor and found the door to Annie's lab. As expected, the door was locked. Thankfully, Annie haven't changed the pass code so Dani successfully got in and discovered the eggs in the cushion.

"Here." Dani gave Roy his gun. "I'll carry this, lead us out." He said as he picked up the cushion with the eggs on.

"Alright, let's go."

Meanwhile, Annie and the rest of the guards were struggling to get out of Mephiles' grip. Unexpectedly, one of the guards reached for something in his pocket and stabbed Mephiles' hand with it. That of course made him retract his hand from the sudden pain.

"OW! Wh- I'm bleeding?!" Mephiles stared at his hand with the stab wound.

"Mephiles!" Shadow hurried over to him but he stopped when a bullet was shot in front of him. He turned his head and glared at Annie who already held one of the guards' weapon.

"I need some of you to run down and get the eggs! Go!" Annie commanded and half of the guards left.

Silver pushed himself away from Sonic to get to Mephiles. He sat next to him and froze in terror when he saw the wound.

"M-Meph- uhm...w-what can I-"

"Silver...you don't have to do anything. Just- just stay back, okay? We got this." Mephiles said as he tried to calm him down.

"But you're bleeding!" He cried.

"Mephiles. Here." Sonic suddenly sat next to him with a cloth on his hand. He took Mephiles' wounded arm and wrapped the cloth around it. "I ripped this from the bedsheet, this'll do for now."

The pale hedgehog stared at the other who was attending his wound.

"We'll find you a better cure when we get out of here." Sonic sighed.

"Thank you. You sound a lot like Shadow for a second."

Sonic blushed and he looked away shyly, "y-yeah um...I was just worried about you..." he mumbled. "A-Anyway, Silver, come here. You can't put yourself in danger." He got up and pulled Silver's hand.

"I just wanted to help." The younger one pouted.

"I know, you can do that when we get out of here. Right now you need to be safe." Sonic smiled and cupped his face. "Okay?"

Silver looked away and sighed, "okay."
