UPSET HEDGEHOGS

Annie took the eggs out of the cushions and brought them to her laboratory. Sonic and Silver didn't know if it was a good idea or not since their mates strictly prevented Annie from doing so, but they weren't there anymore and they decided to rely on Annie to check on the eggs.

Sonic and Silver never left each other's side since the day before, the day where their mates went home. Annie had delivered their breakfast but they haven't touched it.

"Sonic...do you really think they won't come back?" Silver mumbled. The two were sitting on the bed close together and leaning on the pillows behind them.

"They won't..." Sonic scoffed, "we're on our own again, Silver."

"But...can we ask Annie to bring them here again? As a request?"

"Oh forget it!" The blue one threw his arms up upsettingly, "they left without even saying goodbye! I don't ever want to see them back here again." He grumbled.

Silver lowered his ears down, "I still want to see them, though..." he sighed and stared at the empty cushion where their eggs were supposed to be.

"No, you can't. Mephiles doesn't want to see you anymore and that's a fact. If they love us they'd tell us that they're leaving." Sonic complained and crossed his arms together.

The albino hedgehog started crying and hugged his friend, "I miss him."

The blue one sighed and patted his friend's back to comfort him. If he had to be honest, he actually missed Shadow too. He was just so pissed off at them for leaving so soon before their eggs were even hatched. Well, at least that's what Sonic thought was happened.

Annie came back to their room again to deliver their lunch, but she was surprised that her two hedgehogs hadn't touched their breakfast. She realized that they haven't eaten since morning and she became worried.

"Sonic? Silver?" She put the the tray down and went to Silver's room. "Hey, what's wrong? You guys haven't eaten your breakfast and it's already lunch time." She stood beside the bed.

"We're not that hungry, Annie...can we skip all meals for today?" Sonic said.

"What?" She gasped and reached her hand out to the collar on Sonic's neck. His condition was still stable for now. "Okay, uh...do you guys maybe want some light snacks? Or fruits? Anything?"

"No." Sonic declined.

"Come on, you have to eat something." Annie sighed.

"I said we don't want to eat. Leave us alone, Annie." Sonic said almost angrily.

Annie didn't answer because she didn't want to annoy them. She just left the room but still left the food tray on the counter in case they changed their minds.

Though, she was actually really worried that if they don't eat anything for more than two days, their condition would affect the quality of their blood and she wouldn't be able to extract them. Worse of all, they probably wouldn't produce any milk to feed their baby when they hatched.

"And that's how Annie betrayed us!" Shadow yelled angrily.

"Twice." Mephiles said with a two sign on his hand.

"Twice!" Shadow emphasized.

Maria stared at them in shock with her hands over her mouth. Her two hedgehogs have told her about the incidents that happened back in the facility, they may have exaggerated a bit but it was because they really hated Annie.

"She really abused Sonic and Silver into taking their blood? And she really didn't even let you stay until the eggs hatched?" She asked.

"Yeah! We really need to go back to that building, Maria. Our mates and our eggs might be in danger in the hands of Annie and her staff!" Shadow exclaimed.

"Okay, calm down, sit." Maria said softly and Shadow did as she said. "Listen, I know they are in danger, but how can we even go to Annie's facility without a jet? Or a plane?" She questioned.

"We- uh..."

"Ask Roy." Mephiles said.

"Yeah ask Roy!" Shadow repeated.

Maria frowned at the idea, "Roy is very busy with his own work, guys. I don't think I'd feel comfortable to ask him about this."

"Maria, please, we want to protect our mates." Shadow pleaded, "they need our help and I want to get them out of there."

"Yeah, Maria, we desperately need to see our mates and eggs again. We love them." Mephiles added.

Seeing their honesty about how they truly feel with their new family, she wouldn't dare to refuse their plead. She sighed and got up from the couch.

"Okay, I'll call Roy. Behave yourselves and ask nicely for help, okay?" She said while reaching toward the phone on the side table. The twins nodded their heads repeatedly to show how thankful they were.

After a phone call was made, Roy arrived at their home and Maria invited the adult to sit on the couch.

"Oh, I didn't know you'd be back so soon." Roy chuckled when he saw the twins. "So, how was your trip at Annie's?"

"Horrible!" Shadow shouted and stood from his seat.

"Terrible!" Mephiles also did the same.

Maria cleared her throat and signalled them with her eyes to sit back down. They both sat down. She just came back from the kitchen to serve their guest a cup of tea.

"Why is that? I thought you guys would love having a mate?" The man asked.

"We do, we love them! But- Annie decided to be a jerk and sent us home while we were alseep just so she could take the eggs!" Shadow complained and it surprised the other.

"Your mates already layed eggs?" Roy asked and they nodded. "Oh wow that's fast. And Annie doesn't want you to see them hatch?"

"Yes! She betrayed us by sending us away! She is only taking adventage of them for their blood and eggs!" Shadow exclaimed.

"You're her work partner, right? Can't you do something about this?" Mephiles asked.

Roy was a little confused and worried, he knew Annie and her facility, but he actually really didn't know what was going on inside the building. What Shadow had described to him just raised his suspision toward Annie. He sighed and took out his phone.

"I'm gonna call Annie and ask her about this, wait here okay?" He stood up and went outside.

Shadow and Mephiles stared at Roy through the window while he was having a phone call with Annie. They were so focused that they didn't realize Maria was calling them repeatedly.

"Shadow! Mephiles!" She shouted and finally caught their attention.

"Ah- yeah?" Shadow stuttered.

"What is it?" Mephiles asked.

"Hey, listen, if things don't go the way you want with Roy. We'll figure something out, together, okay? So don't lash out your anger on him." Maria smiled. The brothers smiled back and nodded their heads.

After a few minutes, Roy came back into the house and sat on the couch.

"So what did she say?" Mephiles asked.

"I told her that you guys were sent home without consent...but she denied that and told me that you two were the ones bawling at her, wanting to go home because you missed Maria."

"WHAT?!" Both Shadow and Mephiles shouted with their spikes raised, they stood up from the couch and glared at Roy.

"And what did you say after that?! Don't tell us you ACTUALLY believed her?!" Shadow complained.

"I don't! I don't believe her!" Roy raised his hands in defense. "I asked her again about the eggs and she told me that she's taking good care of it-"

"THAT'S OUR EGGS SHE'S TAKING!" Shadow growled. "Call her again and let us talk!" He demanded.

"Ah- Shadow!" Maria panicked.

"It's okay Maria, I have my fair share of annoyance with Annie because she's not being honest with us." Roy smiled and took his phone out again. He called Annie and put the phone on speaker.

Shadow took the phone and hold it for him and Mephiles. Their ears perked when the call was answered.

"What is it now Ro-"

"PUT THE EGGS BACK TO WHERE THEY BELONG YOU BLACK-HAIRED BITCH." Shadow cussed and surprised everyone in the room, especially Maria.

"Sh- Shadow? Is that you? What the-"

"Don't touch the eggs and don't mess with our mates or we'll kill you! Do you hear me?!" Shadow shouted at the phone.

"We're literally going to find you and take your lungs out if you hurt them." Mephiles threatened.

"Where's Roy? Why are- you know what, it doesn't matter. Bye." Annie ended the call and it just pissed the twins off even more.

"Now now, calm down you two." Maria stood up and hold their hands. "Let's think of a way to go the facility, okay?" She took the phone so it won't be crushed by Shadow's strong grip and returned it to Roy.

"Maria, I'm SO angry right now." Shadow  grunted.

"This is so weird...I never thought Annie could be this greedy." Roy facepalmed. "This is partially my fault for not investigating her..."

Maria turned to Roy with a shocked face. "Oh no no don't say that! You didn't know about her true intention, it's not your fault." She smiled assuringly.

"I still feel bad about this." He sighed. "How about this...I'll call in a friend tomorrow and we can all go visit Annie. Sounds good?"

"Oh yes, absolutely! Thank you!" Shadow said and shook his hand. "You and Maria really are the kindest human in this cruel world."

Maria and Roy blinked in confusion.

"Ahaha...I'm glad I can help." Roy chuckled.
