AFTER A WEEK

It had been a week since Sonic and Silver were developing eggs inside their body, they could be laying their eggs at any moment that time and everyone was nervous.

Annie had prepared a thick and large round cushion overlayed with some cloths each in Sonic and Silver's rooms. She also provided more spare blankets and cloths which she placed in their beds.

Despite being the one to prepare it all, she still couldn't come to the room or even get near them because the Dominant Cross Hedgehogs were very sensitive and protective when it comes to their mates laying eggs. Annie decided to stay in her office and watched the health monitor just in case anything happen.

Sonic was sitting in the cushion, leaning back against Shadow who was sitting behind him. Silver was also in the same position in his own cushion with Mephiles. Since they both felt small pains in their lower body, it would be best for them to stay like that until the egg was out.

Shadow used his left hand to gently rub his mate's stomach while his right hand held the other's hand. He provided as much comfort as he could to support his mate's stressful state.

"Tell me if you need anything. I'm right here." The older hedgehog assured and kissed his forehead

"Ng...it's so uncomfortable..." Sonic cried a small tear.

"You'll get through it, you're a strong hedgehog." Shadow smiled.

"I'm scared...w-what if the egg breaks? Can that happen? Has that ever happened?"

"I don't think it can, our egg's shell is pretty strong. You don't have to worry about it breaking." Shadow said as he pulled his left hand back to stroke on Sonic's quills.

The younger hedgehog suddenly flinched and shut his eyes tight. His ears folded back and he squirmed at the aching feeling around his stomach and lower. Shadow could feel how strongly Sonic was gripping on his hand and it made him feel more nervous and worried.

Meanwhile on the other room, Silver kept whining about how uncomfortable his body was feeling. He cried small tears and felt scared of what might happen if he failed to lay the egg.

"Are you okay? Are you pushing already? Does it hurt really bad?" Mephiles asked worryingly while gently wiping the tears away.

"Yes it hurts...and I'm worried if I can't lay it out." Silver sobbed.

"Yes you can, I believe in you." Mephiles smiled under his mask, "I'm so sorry that it hurts you, but after this you won't have to feel it again."

The younger hedgehog closed his eyes and whined upsettingly as the feeling on his lower stomach got worse.

"Oww! Mephiles!" He cried as if his mate was the one hurting him. He tighten his grip on Mephiles' arm and even almost pierced him with his claws, but Silver didn't notice it.

Mephiles just kept himself quiet, not flinching when Silver accidentally stabbed his arms with his claws.

After almost an hour, Annie waited anxiously outside of the door to their living room. The process shouldn't take an hour so she was pretty nervous about what might happened. She didn't want anything bad to happen to her two hedgehogs.

"Hello?" She knocked on the door. "Is everything going well? Do you need my help?"

Annie jumped in surprise when the door was opened and Shadow was there with his spikes raised, he was still hostile around her.

"Um...are they okay? Did they lay their eggs already?"

"Shadow, don't let that witch come in here!" Mephiles shouted from Silver's room.

Annie then felt awkward and a little bit sad.

"Sonic and Silver have layed their eggs, they need to rest so don't bother us...for now." Shadow stated.

"So there weren't any complications? They're safe?" The caretaker asked and the other nodded. She smiled in relieve after knowing that.

"Okay, I'll come back later to deliver their lunch. So...take care of them."

"I know." Shadow said.

Annie left and he closed the door so he could come back to stay by Sonic's side. The poor hedgehog was resting and tucked on his bed as the egg stayed on the round cushion. The color of the egg's shell was light pink, so was the color of Silver's egg.

Shadow cleaned up the floor with a few cloths then threw it away, after that he poured some warm water to an empty clean cup and placed it to the table next to Sonic's bed. He also carefully wiped the egg clean before leaving the room to let his mate sleep in peace.

Shadow saw his twin coming out of Silver's room and he noticed the new bruises on his arms.

"Hey, what happened to your arms?" He asked worryingly.

"Oh, Silver clawed it." Mephiles replied calmly while looking at his arm.

"Does it hurt?" Shadow approached him with a new clean cloth and took his brother's arm to tend the bruise.

"I'm fine, Silver was in pain so I let him do it." He said. "You don't have to heal me, I'm okay."

"Just shut up and sit down, your arms need treatment." Shadow demanded and Mephiles sighed in defeat, letting his twin to do what he want.

Mephiles sat down on the dining chair while Shadow went to grab a clean water. He then sat down on the other chair and cleaned the wound carefully.

"Hey..." Mephiles called.

"Hm?"

"What do you think will happen to us now?"

Shadow stopped what he was doing and stared at his brother confusingly.

"What?"

"They're bred, they layed their eggs...if the eggs hatched, will we go back to Mavani Village?"

The red-striped hedgehog couldn't think of anything to reply to his twin. He looked away and sighed.

"That could possibly be the case...what do you expect with being with Annie?" He asked.

"I honestly thought we could at least stay and care for our hoglets..." the pale hedgehog leaned back.

"With Annie in this building? Not a chance." Shadow chuckled and continued to clean the bruise, "unless we kill her."

"You know we can't do that."

"I know, so what else can we do?"

Mephiles kept quiet, he didn't know what else to say.

Later, Shadow finished cleaning up the wounds on his brother's arms. He got up to the sink to throw the water away and threw the used cloth to the bin.

The twins now had nothing to do besides waiting for their mates to wake up from their sleep.
