"Wow. What I said when you hailed me makes a lot more sense now, doesn't it?" Keefe asked with a smirk. "Sure. How about we all play base quest now?" Sophie answered. Then a scroll arrived. Fitz picked it up and read aloud:
"We are pleased to inform everyone that the annual ball will be held this Friday evening. It will be from 7:00 to 10:00. All attendants must bring a date as we will be performing the annual Lost Cities Waltz. Hope to see everyone there" and it was signed by the council. "Well I think we all know who I'm going with" Keefe said looking at Sophie. "It only makes sense. We are each others number 1's" he said with a grin. Not a smirk. A smile. Sophie felt her face heat up and her heart get fluttery. "Yes I'll go with you Keefe" she said finally. Keefe looked relieved. Then he said "I'm assuming these two are going together?" Gesturing towards Biana and Dex. Dex then said "Biana will you go to the d-" but he was cut off by Biana squealing "yes of course!" Then she vanished as if she was embarrassed. Sophie transmitted to Biana and you were worried that I was going to tell
Biana reappeared and smiled at Sophie. Sophie smiled back. Then Keefe asked "who are you going with Fitz?" Fitz looked a little disappointed but he said "I might take the number three on my list" then Sophie realized that he didn't bother mentioning his number 2 "who is your number 2? I'm sure you can ask her?" Sophie asked with a concerned look then Fitz replied "I would ask her but she's already going with someone" and then he ran up the stairs. "Okay what was that about?" Keefe asked. "I don't know. But how could he possibly know if his number two is going with someone? The scrolls just arrived a minute ago and....." She trailed off. That's when it hit her. She looked down at her scroll and saw her number two. Fitz Vacker. She was his number two. She had to be. Then Keefe pulled her out of her thoughts when he said "and what Foster?" Sophie looked up from the scroll. "I'm his number two" she pointed at his name on the list. "Oh" Keefe said. "I'm still going with you!" Sophie answered and hit his arm. Then he smiled and looked at her. "It's a date, Foster. And this time, a real one" Sophie remembered him saying that to her when she was a level three and they were working together to save Alden. Sophie looked up at him and smiled "you never forget anything do you?" She asked. "Nope. Photographic memory. Plus that was just something I would've remembered anyways. That was the year I realized I like you" he answered. Sophie opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out. Keefe just laughed. "Shocking huh. Never thought that the coolest person you know actually likes you. That's what I thought when you said yes" Sophie stared with an open mouth. She finally got the courage to say something "so when we were working together to save Alden, you realized you liked me? Because that's when I realized I like you" she said with astonishment. "Maybe it was Silveny. Speaking of her, I haven't seen her in a while. Would you like to go to the sanctuary with me to see Silveny? She just gave birth to a baby" Keefe asked. Sophie's face lit up. "Really!? Finally! I was starting to think they were still not getting along" Sophie said. Then Keefe held up his own pathfinder. "You got your own pathfinder!" Then she hugged him. She pulled away after a second looking extremely red. Keefe just laughed and said "yeah. Got it a few weeks ago. Come on. Let's go" he said hooking arms with Sophie. Then the light swept them away to the sanctuary.
