Telling The Parents (pt, 2)

Recap:

She knocked and heard his upbeat voice say "come in!"

Sophie opened the door and walked in. Grady spun around in his chair and said "hey honey. How are you?" Sophie smiled at the father-like question. It reminded her of her human dad. She didn't think about them much these days. "I'm doing fine. I wanted to tell you something though" Grady tilted his head and said "go on" Sophie took a deep breath and said "the number one on my match making list is Keefe. I wanted to ask if you like him" her heart was beating so fast and loud she could hear it in her ears. Bum-bum. Bum-bum. Bum-bum over and over and over. It felt like five minutes which was probably only less than a second when he answered "of course I like Keefe! He's great with the animals, he helps me out with them and he treats you right. He's a great kid. I'm happy he's your choice" then he got up and hugged her. She was almost as tall as him now. She was so relieved that Grady and Edaline approve. She would have to call Keefe and tell him the great news. "Thanks for approving" she said getting muffled by the hug. "Thanks for getting approval" he said back. It was a great father-daughter moment. Sophie wanted to stay there forever. But then Grady said "you should go talk to Edaline about the ball. She's excited about helping you" then Sophie smiled and said "okay. Goodnight" "goodnight Sophie"

When Sophie asked Edaline to help her pick out a dress she was beyond ecstatic. She took Sophie to Atlantis right then and they looked at all of the dresses. Everyone would want her to wear red but she didn't want to. Then she remembered her first aurenflare. She walked out in a red tunic and the boys stared at her. She asked "what?"and they said nothing. Now she realized that they both liked her. And Fitz running off. She decided to push the thought out of her head. She likes Keefe more than everything. And everyone.
She decided on a simple white gown that went down to her ankles and white heels. She has gotten better at walking in heels because she had to dress noble all the time. She also got better at dancing from detention she didn't go all the time but occasionally she had to go to detention. She remembered the one time when she was a level four and Keefe was in level six. He finally got that dance with her and she did very well. Keefe said he deserved to dance with her since he lost her last time to Valin. Sophie didn't want to think about Valin. Instead she asked to get some jewelry so they went to jeweler store. When she walked in she saw Keefe there. "Keefe? What are you doing here?" She was surprised. Edaline smiled and said "hi Keefe. Sophie told me about your matchmaking scrolls. I am very happy for the both of you" Keefe looked nervous and said "thank you Mrs. Ruewen" then Edaline said "please. Call me Edaline" Keefe still looked nervous and anxious so Sophie asked what was wrong and he said nothing. Sophie decided to leave because she didn't want Keefe to see her dress or jewelry. When she said she wanted to go home Keefe looked relieved.

Keefe POV
Finally. They're leaving, Keefe thought. He was so nervous he would get caught. Sophie still looked beautiful like she did before at the sanctuary. He started to remember their night. Her eyes glistened in the moonlight. Her eyes are brown. They're different. They were so intriguing to look at. Keefe didn't understand how someone wouldn't want to stare into those eyes all day. She was perfect. After they glittered away he turned to the jeweler and said "thank you for not saying anything" and he let out a breath. "Haha no problem man" said the jeweler. "Is it ready yet?" Asked an eager Keefe. "Yeah. Do you want it engraved?" Keefe nodded and handed him a piece of paper. The jeweler got working and when he stopped he handed Keefe a black velvet box. "Here's the ring"
