8. Longing

Jungkook

Well, today was the day. As he sat with one leg crossed over the other, his arms folded against his chest, and his eyes pinned to the cafe window, the 22-year old sighed into the cold spring air. Of course he was late. It was already 7:20am, and Jungkook's initial plan had been to meet up at this offshore cafe half an hour before Lisa and her manager turned up to briefly go over some of the designs that Jimin had sketched out, and yet Jimin was nowhere to be seen. Did he even have a car? He had clearly walked to work the day of the meeting, since his clothes he'd been soaked to the skin.

Jungkook closed his eyes, as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. Jimin was seriously going to be the end of him. Not only did that little mochi dare to show up late for a meeting with an incredibly important client, but for some reason he had been driving the younger insane these past couple of weeks. What was up with that? Jungkook had run it through his head over and over again, dispelling any scattered thoughts which he'd have about the older, and yet...somehow, Jimin always seemed to be in the back of his mind.
Even outside of work. He often found his mind wandering back to their first meeting. He could no longer deny that Jimin's appearance had...surprised him, in many ways which would shock any heterosexually identifying man, but it didn't mean anything. Nothing at all.

Didn't he have another meeting with Jiwoo soon?

"Sorry I'm late!"

With his eyes still closed, Jungkook sighed once again as the disarray of unsteady footsteps approached him. Standing to his feet, he slowly opened his eyes and stared down at the smaller, who was leant over with his hands gripping his thighs while fighting for his breath. From what Jungkook could see, Jimin's clothes were majorly dishevelled, and his hair stuck out every which way.

Placing his palm over his eyes, Jungkook faught the rising urge to shout him down. "You better have a good excuse Mr Park."

"There was...an accident on one of the main roads, so the buses were all delayed!"

"Don't you drive?"

"M...my car broke down the day of the meeting-"

Jungkook exhaled, as he wiped his hand down his face. "It's been almost three weeks since then, and you still haven't had it fixed?"

"I've been busy with work!" Jimin stood up with both his hand running through his hair in an effort to neaten it out; with his flushed appearance along with those rosy cheeks and lips, the younger found his attention drawn away from everything for mere moments, before he snapped out of his daze and took a step toward the older. "What-?" Jimin stuttered.

"Your tie."

"Huh? Oh, right..."

"..."

"Almost..."

"That's not right."

"I-I know, just give me a moment-"

"We haven't got a moment, because thanks to someone our client could be here at any second," the younger sighed, as he impatiently tapped his fingertips against his arms.

"I said I was sorry!"

"Sorry doesn't turn back time."

"..."

"Just let me do it."

"What?! No, I'm fine!"

Jungkook leant down, before he pulled the awkwardly tied tie apart and relaced it together. "Watch how I do it."

"...fine."

He moved slowly step by step, and as he glanced up he found Jimin intently watching how his hands crossed over one another before pulling the wide end over the other and threading it through the loop created. Without looking away, Jungkook found himself gazing at the older, taking in his pale skin, wide almond eyes and button nose. And those lips.
From this distance, he could feel Jimin's breath hot against his own mouth, and he ended up tugging his own lips inward while fixated on the plump lips in front of him.

"What is it?" Jimin peered up at him, those large eyes piercing through his own like an electric shock. Just like the first time they had met.

Swallowing, Jungkook pulled the knot tight and took a step back. "Honestly..."

"What?"

"Where did you even learn how to tie a tie?"

"Yah, don't make fun of me!"

"Come to think of it, you never wear one at work."

Looking down at his feet, Jimin uttered out smaller words than his stature. "B...because I never learnt how."

"Yeah, I could tell."

Jimin glared at the younger, his cheeks puffing out with his fists clenched by his sides. "Don't make fun of me! I can't be good at everything."

"I never said that. I'm sure there are plenty of other things that you're not good at."

"Hey!"

"Remember who you're talking to, Mr Park."

"I don't care if you're my boss!"

Jungkook scoffed, before folding his arms over one another. "Really now. Then maybe you'd like a suspension, or is that too nice of me?"

"I-I never said that."

Jungkook leant back, staring at the smaller who stood with his head down. Then his eyes glanced over the bag which was slung across his chest. "Did you manage to finish the designs?"

Jimin looked up, and the younger watched as a look of recognition flashed over his face before he promptly nodded. "Yes, would you like to go over them?"

"Of course, I have to check them to make sure they're appropriate-" Just as the words left his mouth, the door behind them swung open, and two women strolled into the cafe.

Jimin

A feeling of panic spread across his body as the superstar and manager entered the cafe, their clothes somehow unfazed by the wind outside. Both wore black, and while the older, shorter woman wore nothing but a simple black suit, the taller sprouted a pink hoodie as well as a mask to cover half of her face. What should he do? Him and Jungkook were stood so sheepishly in the middle of the cafe, and he wasn't prepared to meet either of them like this.

"Mr Jeon!"

Jimin felt his whole body freeze up as both women walked over to them, the older woman holding her hand out to his boss.

"Mrs Lee, it's a pleasure." Blinking, Jimin found himself looking up from the ground and up at Jungkook when a warm, unfamiliar voice rolled off of his tongue.

The woman smiled back at Jungkook, as she shook her head. "I'm not married Mr Jeon."

"Really? That surprises me." Jimin felt his mouth almost fall open as he stared at the scene in front of him. Not only was his boss, Jungkook, kindly smiling, he's somehow left the older woman profusely blushing after falling for the younger's charm. What in the hell- "And you must be Lalisa. I'd like to formally introduce myself, my name is Jeon Jungkook."

"Yes, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." Lisa pulled down her hood as well as her mask, and Jimin remained immediately in awe of her appearance; she was like some kind of living doll, with soft features and large eyes and long eyelashes. Smiling, Lisa held out her dainty hand toward Jungkook, who smiled back and reached out to take it.

"This is my colleague, and product designer Park Jimin."

"A-ah, yes! It's an honor meeting both of you!" Jimin felt the panic rising up his throat and coating his words as he dropped his head slightly bowing at their clients. He twitched when he felt a hand on his back, and stood up again to find Jungkook's palm grazing his side.

"I'm Lalisa, Jimin oppa! But just call me Lisa. 'Oppa' isn't too informal is it?"

She sweetly smiled at him, and Jimin found himself slowly feeling more and more at ease. She was such a friendly person. "No not at all..."

Gesturing toward the back of the cafe, Jungkook and himself with the clients followed. Jimin couldn't help but glance back at Lisa, who strutted over to the table where Jungkook stood before taking a seat. As he took a seat, Jimin also couldn't help but watch as his boss politely held out the chair for Miss Lee, and how his smile shone with warmth and kindness. Was he always like that?
A pang of something ran through his insides as he took a seat next to Jungkook. Did the younger really despise him that much?

"Let's not waste anytime Mr Jeon," Miss Lee spoke, as she glanced over to the window.

"Of course not, we shouldn't stay here long. We wouldn't want to risk exposing you both."

Lisa leaned forward in her chair. "I also want to make this debut a surprise for my fans, so if any paparazzi found out it would ruin the concept."

"We understand, right Mr Park?"

"Y-yeah. Would you like to see the designs now?"

"Please, go ahead."

He nervously unzipped his bag, and pulled out the few sheets from inside. He couldn't help but feel timid when in front of the popstar, who was sat waiting for him to present his work to her. And also Jungkook...who was intently staring at him and his designs.

The perfume bottle was tinted purple, with a diamond shaped cap, and with the font designs beneath looking both bold and curly.

He pointed to the paper, trying to find the confidence in his voice. "From what you told us, I tried to design something that was along the lines of sexy, glamorous and yet beautiful. The concept was more along the lines of a love potion, like a bottle holding a deadly yet enticing elixir."

"Wow..."

"As for the scent, you'll be able to work in the lab. The name is still your choice."

"I love it!"

Lisa clapped her hands together and smiled at Jimin, who was taken back by her reaction. "Really?"

"Yes! I love the whole concept of a love potion, because it's so taboo you know? And I like the colors! There are a few things that I'd like to change but this is a great starting point."

"Thank you..."

Jimin bowed again at the blonde, before making eye contact with his boss. Jungkook, who was known for his stern expression, was again sternly staring at Jimin with yet another unreadable look in his eyes. But, he didn't look at all unhappy. Those dark eyes...

Was there longing in them?
