13. Board Of Directors

Jimin

For the rest of the day, he tried to keep his head down. Although try as he did, it didn't change his inevitable fate, which included a man coming into the office in search of a certain 'pink-haired man' who apparently raised his hand against an important figure such as Jeon Jungkook. "Does anyone know where Park Jimin is?" the man called out, across the many heads seated at many desks.

Jimin cowered. Glancing up, he spotted Jungkook stood at the printer, who had his back facing everyone. Then, as multitudinous faces turned to stare at him, Jimin stood from his desk. "I-I'm here."

The man's expression became firmer, before he spoke once again. "Come with me please."

"Yes..." He was in for a shit storm. And this one would certainly wreak havoc. Jimin could feel the pairs of eyes gunning him down as he slid by each desk and person, the murmers errupting from every crevice of the office while he exited the room. Jungkook hadn't turned from the printer. Which was probably for the best. Jimin wasn't sure if the last thing he wanted to remember before getting fired was the smug look on the youngers face.

Jimin didn't say a word, as he followed the suited man into the elevator, all the way up to the top floor. This was turning into serious...official stuff. It had only been a slap! This was...going over the top...and as he silently argued back and forth in his mind, cursing his past self whilst trying to rationalise his thoughts the man opened a door into a wide, empty room.
There were two people seated at the tables closest to the window. Were they...?

"Mr Park," one of them spoke, snapping the pink haired man out of his thoughts. "Take a seat, please."

"Yes sir..." Jimin mumbled, as he reluctantly pulled out a chair opposite them. Jimin was sure, that these two, or at least one of them was part of the board of directors.

"Do you know why you're here?" one of the men questioned. He was older, maybe in his fourties, with a stern expression and a gold ring encircling his wedding finger. The other was almost the same, minus the wedding ring, and was seated staring blankly at the younger with a pen in hand and paper below him.

"I think so..." Jimin replied, as he clasped his hands together. "Regarding this morning..."

"A large group of staff," the man interrupted, "witnessed you hitting one of your coworkers, your superior, Jeon Jungkook. Is this true?"

"I..." He couldn't lie. Jimin took a breath in. "Yes, I did."

The one seated on the left started taking notes, whilst the other continued to speak. "Why did you take this course of action?"

"W-what?"

The man's expression became tighter. "Would you care to explain why you did so?"

Jimin swallowed. He couldn't exactly tell the truth in this scenario...either way he was getting fired. If it was found out that himself and Jungkook had a kind of 'history' then Jimin was of course going to get either transferred or penalised. It wasn't like anything happened between them, but because it has in the past gotten between their work...it would be necessary for the entire team. Jimin didn't want to be taken off of this project. He was finally doing something big, being a part of something important...and because of his rashness it was falling away from him. But then again...Jungkook really was an important figure, in this entire company. He's respected, well known amongst his peers, amongst the board of directors even. And Jimin couldn't scratch that...even if he wanted to.

"Well?"

"Um...there was no reason," Jimin spoke up. "I just...did it."

"For no reason at all?" the man questioned. "You just decided to raise a hand against your boss?"

"N-no, I mean, well...we were talking and...I was in the wrong!" Jimin suddenly said, his voice raising slightly to his own surprise. "I shouldn't have done what I did, and bringing in personal problems to work shouldn't be done because it effects everything else," he continued. "I'm sorry..."

The man stared Jimin down, before he leant forward. "I see. Mr Park, this offense no matter what wasn't serious. However, you and everyone else picked to be a part of this project regarding BLACKPINK's cosmetic line were chosen because of the professionalism and diligence that you have. This is important, for the entire company," he spoke, and Jimin looked down as the guilt started eating away at him, "and we cannot afford to waste any time. Working together efficiently is crucial, Mr Park, and since you cannot work underneath Mr Jeon then I'm afraid you will have to be pulled from the project."

Jimin felt his stomach drop, as he stared down at his feet. "I-I understand..."

"Wait."

The door to the room suddenly opened, and closed, before a low voice spoke up behind Jimin.

"Mr Jeon?" the man replied, and Jimin suddenly became glued to his seat as the smell of Jungkook's cologne became stronger. "We were just discussing this mornings incident-"

"Don't take him off of the team," Jungkook suddenly interrupted. Jimin felt his heart speed up, and he frowned to himself as he remained still. What did he just say?

"Mr Jeon, you understand how important this project is. We can't afford any miss ups, including this one."

"Sir," the younger started, and Jimin listened closely as Jungkook's footsteps trailed around the table and closer to the directors, "Mr Park shouldn't have slapped me. It defies the professional atmosphere here in this building, and I'm sure he apologized for it."

"What are you trying to say?"

Jungkook continued, his body slowly easing its way into Jimin's frame of vision. "What I'm trying to say is that this was a tiny mistake, which I also take responsibility for. I was out of line," the younger spoke, as he glanced at the older who's eyes widened, "and Mr Park was only...correcting me. Nevertheless, he is an incredibly important asset to this project. It cannot be finished up to standards without his skills."

The man to the left continued to write notes, and Jimin looked up at Jungkook who stared back at Jimin. His eyes were...soft.

"It's already been decided-"

"Well, un-decide it then," Jungkook interrupted again, his tone now of a more irritated one.

"You can't just barge in here," the director replied, eyeing the younger.

"Actually, Yeong-jin, I think I can," Jungkook replied, his countenance exacting, unsparing as those dark eyes pierced the older men from across the room. Jimin wasn't sure as to what exactly happened, and the stare-off between the director and the project manager was nearingly eerie, but...

The director sighed. "Mr Jeon...you know this project best."

Without hesitation, Jungkook replied, unwavering. "Yes sir."

"And you are sure that yourself, and Mr Park, will make this work?"

Jungkook nodded, his brows furrowed, however not in anger but with assurance. "I am."

"Right. Then, Mr Park," the director turned back to Jimin, who immediately sat up straight upon being addressed, "I suppose since you are needed so badly..."

"Y-yes?" Jimin whispered, hesitant.

The director sighed again, as he scratched the back of his neck. "Just make sure nothing like this happens again. This I say to the both of you."

Like a spring, the pink haired man stood up, almost bouncing, a surge of giddiness jolting through his body as he bowed at the director through and through. "Yes! Thank you, I swear on my life-!" Jimin felt a hand on his shoulder, signalling for him to stand up straight, and when he turned back he saw the younger staring down at him once more. Jungkook nodded at Jimin, before he too bowed slightly at the older men and turned around to walk out of the room. And Jimin looked back at the directors and bowed once more, before he sped out of the room after the younger, his breath jagged from having to endure that suffocating situation.
Closing the door behind him, Jimin turned back to Jungkook, who stood in front of him with his hands in his pockets. Jimin had never seen the younger look...as he did. Jungkook looked maybe even tired, but if anything he looked more exasperated.

Jimin was uncertain as to what to say, but the first thing he did was bend forward and bow deeply toward the younger. "J-Jungkook, thank you-"

"Hey, don't do that."

"But you...if you hadn't done that-"

Jimin heard him sigh. "If I hadn't said the things which I did, then you wouldn't have been put in that situation in the first place. Stand up straight." Wincing, shyly, Jimin did as he was told. When he looked back up, the younger looked away. "I apologize for what I said this morning."

"Huh?" Jimin stuttered, surprised, or maybe shocked at the words which left his boss's mouth. "D-did you just...huh?"

"Jesus, I said I was sorry," Jungkook sighed, as he brought his large palm across his face, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his forefinger and thumb. "Now let it go."

"I-I mean...sure..." the older replied, his heart speeding up and his cheeks flushing. It went quiet momentarily, neither one of them wishing to speak, which only made Jimin feel more embarrassed. "And...I'm sorry for slapping you...it wasn't necessary," Jimin tried to joke, as he squeezed his lips together.

Jungkook said nothing, but only gazed fiercly at Jimin with those intense orbs of his, and Jimin felt his smile slowly die down beneath those eyes. Was he going to say something? Jimin felt his body temperature start to rise, feeling hot, as the younger only remained silent. Out of nervousness, Jimin automatically bit down onto his bottom lip, their eye contact unmoving as a strange gravitational pull lulled Jimin closer to Jungkook. What was happening?

Then, Jungkook sighed, as he took a step toward Jimin. "Don't apologize. I deserved it."

"O...okay...sir..." Jimin whispered, his trail of thought only breaking more and more the closer his boss got.

Jungkook was right in front of Jimin, his expression suddenly darkening, becoming dangerous, becoming almost primal. "Don't call me that."

"Why?" Jimin breathed.

"Because..." the older watched as Jungkook swallowed, before he finally took a step backwards. "Because I told you not to."

Like a gust of wind blowing away the morning fog, Jimin felt his cloudy mind start to...uncloud. Or maybe he was still in a daze, from whatever had just happened because his thoughts were still incoherent and disorderly. Taking a deep breath in, Jimin sighed before rolling his eyes and placing his hands on his hips. "I don't think I'll ever understand you Jungkook."

The younger cocked his head to the side, smirking down at the smaller. "You don't have to. Just learn to deal with me and you'll survive, Mr Park."

Jimin couldn't help but smile. "So, are we good?"

"As good as gold."

Turning away toward the elevator, his boss walked away with those large hands pocketed. Jimin took a moment to himself, as he squeezed his hands together, wiping away the sweat which had just built up against his palms. "Just learn to deal with me and you'll survive, Mr Park."
Those words rung out in his head, over and over. Jimin doubted that very much.

Looking up, Jimin eyed the taller man. His undeniably attractive, sexy, straight boss.

He doubted that very much.
